Linwood Ferguson has passed away at age 72. Ferguson, who spent over four decades in the coaching profession, won two NAIA national titles at Elon, and also had stops at East Carolina, NC A&T, Eastern Kentucky, Howard and Indiana. Please join us in praying for his family.
Oregon: Josh Robinson is joining the staff as a special teams analyst, sources tell FootballScoop. He comes aboard from Conroe Oak Ridge (TX) High School and has previously been a special teams analyst at Tulane.
Rose Hulman (D-III - IN): Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is hiring two graduate assistants. Any position will be considered on both sides of the ball. Compensation includes graduate classes at Indiana State University, meals and a $10,000 stipend. Florida: The Gators are adding a young, defensive assistant to new defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong's staff, per source.
William Penn (NAIA - IA): William Penn University is accepting applications for an introductory full-time offensive skills or defensive skills coaching position. The position includes coaching, recruiting, and administrative duties assigned by the HFC. The salary will range from mid $20's to $30K depending on experience. Benefits package included. Houston: In his typical tactful style, it seems as if Dana Holgorsen is laying the groundwork to insulate himself from whatever does or doesn't happen in Houston's first Big 12 season. "Ain't no f---ing hot seat in my mind."
Florida: Central Arkansas linebackers coach Cannon Gibbs has joined Billy Napier's staff at Florida.
Ohio State: With these latest salary numbers, Ryan Day should once again have the highest salary pool for assistants in all of college football.
Defiance (D-III - OH): Per source, veteran coach Eric Hubbard has joined the staff as linebackers coach. Hubbard joins the Yellow Jackets after serving spending last season as the linebackers coach at Michigan Tech (D-II). Also, per source, D'Gary Wallace will continue as assistant head coach / defensive coordinator and will coach the defensive backs.
Eastern Illinois (FCS): Iowa graduate assistant Jordan Walsh has joined the staff as tight ends coach. The hire completes head coach Chris Wilkerson's staff.
Birmingham Stallions (USFL): Sources tell FootballScoop former long-time Northwestern defensive line coach Marty Long has joined the Stallions' staff in the same capacity.
Central College (D-III - IA): Liberty offensive grad assistant Mike Chorowicz is set to join the Central College staff as receivers coach.
Illinois Wesleyan (D-III): Illinois Wesleyan University is seeking a graduate assistant coach. It is a defensive position with knowledge of linebackers or defensive backs. Pacific (D-III - OR): Pacific University, located just outside of Portland, OR is seeking an assistant football coach to work with the wide receivers and or offensive skill positions. This position will assist the head football coach, recruit high school and transfer athletes along with other duties as assigned by the head coach. This is not a full time position. Salary will be dictated by experience and years spent in the game. College coaching experience is heavily preferred. Four year college degree required. Ohio State: Former Nebraska defensive line / outside linebackers coach Mike Dawson is joining the Ohio State staff as an analyst Sean Callahan has shared.
Birmingham Stallions (USFL): Former UAB assistant Daric Riley has joined the Stallions' staff sources tell FootballScoop. Riley coached corners at UAB this past season and has coached outside backers, safeties and special teams over the past decade at UAB, Old Dominion, ECU and SMU.
Lane College (D-II): Tommie Lewis Jr will be the new defensive coordinator at Lane College.
Maryland: Mike Locksley is reportedly targeting a veteran FCS head coach for an offensive spot on staff.
Campbellsville (NAIA - KY): Former record-setting quarterback Jacob Russell has returned to his alma mater as the new head coach of the Fighting Tigers.
