Southern University (FCS): Southern University A&M College invites applications for the position of Football Strength & Conditioning - Graduate Assistant Coach. The placement will involve a number of the following duties & responsibilities: Assist the Director of Football Strength & Conditioning in the day to day operations of the facility and provide assigned football groups with programs/training that is up to date, attend weekly training seminars, teach athletes proper technique and perform diagnostic biomechanical analysis of an athlete’s movement, assist with supervision of the weight-room (equipment maintenance and cleaning, exercise supervision, safety issues etc.), warm up protocol/program design & responsibility for a position group, assist with the input of test data, research, and testing, and discussion of professionalism, budgets, weight room safety and set-up. Will oversee the development of 1 – 2 position groups. The position is 12 months; beginning August 1st, 2024 through May 30th, 2025 annually (dates will vary based on the academic calendar). The position includes: a stipend from the Graduate School ($3,000 - $4,000 a semester), and housing accommodations in the campus apartments. Qualifications: Potential candidates must have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. Undergraduate degree in related strength and conditioning field. Possess, or be working towards, one of the following certifications: NSCA – CSCS, USAW, CSCCa, and must be up to date on CPR/AED certification. 1 – 2 years football strength & conditioning coaching experience, in the weight room, is preferred. Enrolled in the university and graduate program. All candidates must be enrolled for the 2024 Fall Semester and maintain satisfactory progress towards degree completion to maintain the position.
