Highest Paid Strength Coaches:There are some new names atop the highest paid strength coaches in college football.
Charlotte: University of North Carolina at Charlotte seeks applicants for Sports Performance Internships for the Spring ‘21 Semester. This internship will provide an intensive, hands-on approach to the principles and methods of strength & conditioning covered in the Charlotte 49er Sports Performance Program Responsibilities: Successful candidates will assist in the organizing & implementing of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Olympic Sports Performance Program. This includes, but is not limited to, the areas of movement assessment, exercise technique progression, dynamic warm-up, speed & movement training, strength training, soft tissue/mobility, and performance testing for all student-athletes. Interns will also be responsible collecting and interpreting testing data, the daily maintenance of equipment and facilities, and the development of strength & conditioning manuals, instructional videos and updating social media sites. This position will not work with Football or Men’s Basketball. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required, First Aid and CPR certified. Certified or working toward the CSCS, SCCC or USAW certification and Division I coaching experience. This position requires background knowledge in Kinesiology or a related field and as well as the ability to teach exercise safety as well as enforce weight room rules and regulations. Intermediate computer skills required. Good verbal communication a must. Applications will be accepted until position is filled. Background check required at own expense if hired. Houston: The University of Houston Strength and Performance Department is seeking highly motivated, hard- working individuals who are in pursuit of experience in the field of human performance. The University of Houston Strength and Performance Department is looking to fill 2021 Winter/Spring internship positions. If accepted for this position, you will be expected to start January 19th. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with and observe all athletes that train in the Elmer Redd Strength and Conditioning Center. This is located in the University of Houston Athletics/Alumni center. Daily Responsibilities will include but not limited to: Assisting with supervision, set up, and clean-up of various strength training programs every day. This will also include attending to daily maintenance of the facility. Expected to take part in an internship curriculum that will include exercise science, the art of coaching, educational presentations, debates, homework assignments, and practical application of strength and conditioning knowledge. Qualifications: Be in pursuit of an undergraduate/graduate degree in exercise science or related field. Certified in CPR/First aid. Have a strong desire to be a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach and pursuing CSCCa-SCCC and/or NSCA-CSCS certifications. Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work varied hours. UAB: UAB Basketball is accepting applications for volunteer strength and conditioning internship positions for Spring 2021. Report date is January 19 th and will run through the end of April. This position will be included in all activities on and off court for the UAB men’s and women’s basketball programs. This position will be utilized in a coaching, sports nutrition, sports science, and operational role through the 20-21 basketball season. This is an unpaid position; however, you will gain valuable experience in a collegiate basketball strength and conditioning program as well as potential references for future employment in the field. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who have a strong desire to pursue collegiate strength and conditioning and are willing to commit a minimum of 20 hours/week with early mornings, long days, and evening hours. Mercer (FCS - GA): Mercer University Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking applicants who are highly motivated to fill internship positions for the Spring of 2020 starting the week of January 11th, 2021 and going through May of 2021. This is an UNPAID, volunteer position. Interns will also have the chance to earn additional responsibilities. Academic credits can be applied towards an Exercise Science or related Undergraduate or Graduate program if necessary. With education through experience being our main goal, interns will be provided and challenged with the key qualities of success in the Strength and Conditioning field. This includes professional development and continuing education, daily opportunities to learn and grow as a leader, expansion of network connections, teaching student athletes’ proper lifting technique, and daily weight room maintenance. While working with Football, and all other Division I athletic programs, interns will gain practical coaching experience in accordance with the philosophy of the department and can begin to lay the groundwork for future opportunities with a consideration and recommendation for future employment. Qualifications include: strong work ethic, attention to detail, enthusiasm, effective communication skills, positive energy, willingness to work, Bachelor’s degree or a degree in process, hold certification(s) and/or seeking to get certified in at least one of the major certifications below. Preferences (but not limited to): CPR/AED/First Aid Certified, CSCS, SCCC, USAW. Northwestern State (FCS - LA): Northwestern State University is currently accepting applications for the position of Associate Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree is required, master’s degree preferred. Experience at the collegiate level is also preferred. It also will be required that this individual have one of the following two certifications – Certified and Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. RESPONSIBILITIES: Successful candidate will report to the Director of Strength and Conditioning and will assist with all facets of the program, including but not limited to planning for and overseeing strength and conditioning sessions with emphasis on sport specific training and with measurable outcomes for each team. This individual should create and demand a positive culture of accountability and success. The Associate Head Strength Coach will have direct oversight for teams, interns, and graduate assistant as assigned; assist with administrative duties; and maintain a strong commitment to NCAA, Southland Conference, and State of Louisiana rules. Finally, the coach must be committed to the personal development of each student-athlete. Communication with coaches from each sport, the administration and the sports medicine staff will be expected. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
