Nova Southeastern: Nova Southeastern University is currently accepting applications for the position of Graduate Assistant for Strength & Conditioning. The Graduate Assistant reports directly to the Director of Sports Performance, while working collaboratively as a member of the NSU Sports Medicine Interdisciplinary Team. The position is responsible for assisting the Strength and Conditioning staff in all departmental functions. The successful candidate will have full responsibility of 2-4 teams and will assist with the implementation of strength training, conditioning, speed/agility, flexibility and recovery workouts for all 17 NSU athletic teams. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to complete the CSCCa mentorship program and be eligible to sit for the SCCC certification exam after their 1st year. Qualifications: The GA positions are required to work 20 hours per week, which include flexible hours, evenings and weekends. GA positions work 9-month, renewable contracts. Graduate Assistants must be enrolled at a full time status (6 credits per semester) and be in good academic standing throughout their employment. Applicants must be admitted into their respective graduate program before they can sign a contract through NSU Student Employment. Candidates must be certified with at least one of the following organizations CSCCa (SCCC), NSCA (CSCS), or USAW. US Air Force Special Warfare: The United States Air Force 13th ASOS at Fort Carson, CO is currently seeking UNPAID/volunteer Sport Science intern(s). The successful applicant(s) must be ready for a greater than normal internship experience and responsibilities. Penn State: Penn State is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill a summer 2020 VOLUNTARY-UNPAID internship working primarily with football. This position will start in June 2020 and can run anywhere from August to December 2020, depending on performance. Individuals chosen will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I program, as well as future recommendation for employment. Responsibilities: Will include but are not limited to daily operation/maintenance of the weight room, daily operations of fueling station, record keeping, and assisting with any sport science initiatives. Qualifications: Candidates will be certified or actively pursuing certification from CSCCA and/or NSCA. CSCCA mentorship program will be available for candidates seeking to obtain the SCCC certification. Interns must be able to work a variety of times including days, nights, and weekends if necessary. Mississippi State: Mississippi State University is searching for qualified individuals to fill two Strength and Conditioning Paid Intern positions. This is an 11 month paid internship starting July 1, 2020 and running through May 31, 2021. Primary duties of the paid internship include (but are not limited to) the following: assisting with coaching Olympic Sport teams in their respective strength and conditioning sessions, helping conduct any testing we perform with our athletes, along with general maintenance of the Olympic Sports Weight room. The paid interns will also take part in a hands on intern curriculum to help prepare them for future positions in the field of strength and conditioning. Qualifications: Required: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree along with a First Aid/CPR certification. Preferred: Either SCCC or CSCS certification(s). Prior experience in collegiate strength and conditioning Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Professionalism in dealing with coaches and student-athletes; Working knowledge of computers and technology is required; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Ability to critically assess, utilize, and troubleshoot various forms of weight room technology; Working Conditions and Physical Effort Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion. Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dirt, chemicals, etc. Job frequently requires walking, standing, lifting, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and handling objects with hands. Requires handling of heavy weight objects up to 100 lbs. on a regular basis and on occasion up to 150+ lbs. Compensation: Pay for the paid internship position is a rate of $15/hr split evenly over 720 hours during the 11 month position. Texas State: The Texas State University Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for 2 UNPAID interns for Summer 2020. The selected candidates will begin around the last week of May, as our team workouts begin June 1. This position is unpaid but offers the opportunity for advancement in the field of strength and conditioning through earned future recommendations, and will allow the chosen individuals to study under a CSCCa approved mentor. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision of the Texas State Football team, set up and breakdown for daily strength and conditioning activities, routine maintenance, cleaning and organization of the training facility, as well as the opportunity to gain hands on coaching experience. Prerequisites include working toward, or completion of a Bachelors’ Degree, and working toward NSCA or CSCCA certification.
