Sam Houston State: The Sam Houston State Football Strength & Conditioning program is currently accepting applications for volunteer strength and conditioning interns for summer semester of 2024. This is an UNPAID position that will last for the duration of the semester with an estimated start date of June 3rd, 2024 and an estimated finish in August 2024 with the possibility of renewal for the fall. An educational curriculum will be provided as well as practical experience working with student-athletes. Required qualifications include working towards or completion of bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field, strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, a strong work ethic and a strong desire to learn. Preferred qualifications: CSCS or CSCCA certification and current CPR/AED certification. Responsibilities to include, but not limited to: cleaning and maintenance of Ron Randleman Weight Room, assisting or observing training sessions of all sports teams, distribution of supplements and nutrition, set up and break down for all workouts, and other duties as assigned. Role: Assists the Director in the day-to-day operations of the Sport Performance facility and program. Provides assigned student-athletes with a well-rounded scientifically sound training program. Adheres to all rules that govern the program and department. Assists with assigned administrative duties. Educational Requirements Bachelor's from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Other Required Qualifications: Certification through the NSCA (CSCS) and/or CSCCa (SCCC), CPR/AED Certified Required Experience. At least one year of relevant sports performance experience coaching in a high school, college, professional team, or private training facility.
