Western Illinois: Western Illinois University is currently accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant Sports Performance Coaching position. The position of Graduate Assistant for Sports Performance is responsible for directly assisting the Director of Sports Performance in all aspects of developing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for 17 Division I sport programs. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to; implement strength and conditioning programs for assigned sport teams, coordinate times for assigned teams around class and team schedules in conjunction with weight room and strength staff, assist with and conduct periodic performance and strength testing, stay abreast of current trends in the field, and other duties as assigned. This position requires a CSCS and/or a SCCC coaching credential, CPR/First Aid certification and the ability to work flexible hours. Graduate assistant positions include a monthly stipend plus tuition (employment is contingent upon proof of admission to the Graduate School). Illinois: The University of Illinois Football Strength and Conditioning Department is currently searching for an individual to fill a PAID internship position working directly with the football strength staff. The internship program is designed to equip this individual with hands on experience as well as the ability to apply key evaluation, testing and training principles in a team setting. Selected individual will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and understanding of athletic development at the highest level, as well as observe the daily operations and proceedings of a Big 10 program. This position also offers a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge in performance technology and data collection through use of velocity-based training, GPS tracking, Force Frame, Nordbord and force plate implementation. Most importantly this individual will have a chance to earn recommendations for future opportunities in the field of strength and conditioning. Qualified applicants will have already completed or in the process of attaining an NCAA accredited certification (NSCA or CSCCa) and have a strong desire to continue their career in strength and conditioning. Preferred qualifications include previous internship experience and CPR/AED/First Aid Certification. Texas Southern: The Texas Southern University Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for ONE (1) Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach to begin during the summer of 2024. Priority consideration will be given to candidates who possess or are working towards certification through the NSCA, CSCCa or USAW and are CPR / First Aid / AED Certified. Desired attributes include outstanding organizational and computer skills, great work ethic, professionalism and most importantly the ability to command the room. Previous coaching and / or playing experience is a plus. Verbal communication skills with diverse populations is a must. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Set up and breakdown of training sessions for assigned sports, general maintenance and upkeep of Athletic Facilities, communication with Sport Coaches, Athletic Training staff and Administration. Must be able to physically demonstrate strength and Olympic lifts as well as speed progressions and change of direction movements. The successful candidate will assist with Football and Olympic Sports with primary responsibilities to include Women’s Basketball and Men’s / Women’s Golf. Sport assignments are subject to be adjusted based on experience and need. The selected candidate will receive valuable experience in the day-to- day operations of a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Department, program design and implementation, nutrition, speed, agility and explosive training. Must be accepted into a Graduate School program at Texas Southern University prior to hire.
