Chris Klieman's won 19 games in his past two seasons at Kansas State, and that success has also brought some outside attention.
Namely, Klieman lost former Wildcats star quarterback and K-State's offensive coordinator, Collin Klein, to Texas A&M last month for a high-paying chance to run the offense for Mike Elko's new Aggies program.
Klieman is seeking to keep the momentum going by adding a former Power 5 head coach to his staff.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Klieman is hiring Matt Wells away from the University of Oklahoma.
Most notably, Wells is the former head coach at Big 12 program Texas Tech, as well as routine Group of 5 postseason participant Utah State.
Wells had served the past two years on Brent Venables' Oklahoma staff as a senior offensive analyst.
He's won 57 games as a head coach and advanced his teams to four bowls.
Wells's background includes assistant coaching stints as a passing game coordinator, quarterbacks coach, recruiting coordinator and offensive coordinator.
It is expected that Wells will join with Conor Riley, K-State's current offensive line coach, to help orchestrate the Wildcats's offense.
Riley led the team's offense in the Wildcats's bowl win last week against North Carolina State.
