Sources: Jimmy Rogers leaving South Dakota State to take over at Washington State (FCS Championship)

Jimmy Rogers won an FCS national championship in 2023 and made a return trip to the semifinals this past season atop powerhouse South Dakota State.

Now, Rogers is poised for his first-ever Football Bowls Subdivision head coaching job.

Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Rogers is accepting the top job at Washington State, which lost coach Jake Dickert to Wake Forest earlier this month.

Rogers compiled a 27-3 ledger in his two seasons atop the Jackrabbits program, with the 2023 campaign including a perfect 15-0 run to the national championship.

Matt Zenitz of 247Sports earlier reported that Washington State was targeting Rogers.

Sources told FootballScoop that Rogers has accepted the job and began preparations to travel to Washington State to formally accept the job and be introduced as the next Cougars coach.

Rogers starred at South Dakota State, was a team captain and earned all-conference honors during his playing career. He quickly transitioned into the coaching staff and had served at his alma mater between his playing and coaching careers for nearly two decades.
