Jason Simpson is making a key addition to his UT Martin offensive staff, sources tell FootballScoop.
Simpson is tabbing Nick Cochran to become the Skyhawks wide receivers coach, sources tell FootballScoop Friday.
A former University of Alabama equipment manager who has determinedly climbed the coaching ranks, Cochran also logged multiple seasons at the University of Maryland under Terps head coach and former Alabama offensive coordinator Mike Locksley.
After two-plus years at Maryland, Nick Saban hired Cochran back to the University of Alabama, where he had served as an offensive analyst.
At UT Martin, Cochran is poised to join one of the top offensive staffs in FCS, headlined by Simpson -- who's among the longest-tenured coaches in all of FCS.
A 115-game winner atop the Skyhawks program, Simpson has led Martin to 25 wins in its last three seasons, a trio of first-place conference finishes and to the second round of the FCS Playoffs in 2021.
