Sources tell FootballScoop that former Louisville assistant Chris Klenakis is joining the staff at Florida A&M.
We understand Klenakis will serve as offensive line coach / run game coordinator.
Klenakis previously served as the tight ends coach at Louisville in 2018. He had been with the Cardinals since 2014, originally serving as the offensive line coach before moving to tight ends in 2017.
A college coaching veteran, Klenakis has also previously coached at Arkansas and Iowa State and has served as a held a coordinator title at Nevada, Southern Miss and Central Missouri
This marks Klenakis' first coaching opportunity since being placed on administrative leave at Louisville back in August of 2018, following an arrest for driving under the influence. After reaching a plea deal he spent a few days in jail and paid $700 in fines and fees.
Florida A&M will provide a fresh start of sorts for the college coaching veteran, and the program plans to play a spring football schedule, due to the MEAC and much of the FCS shutting down due to COVID-19 concerns.
The addition of Klenakis adds to a loaded offensive set of minds with Willie Simmons at head coach, James Spady serving as associate head coach / tight ends and Kenneth Black coaching the quarterbacks.
