Already this off season, the NFL has raided a number of college staffs for key positions and plucked away a handful of coordinators.
According to a report this afternoon, that trend continues with Western Michigan offensive coordinator / tight ends coach Jake Moreland leaving for a job with the Jets.
Pete Thamel shares that Moreland will be Robert Saleh's assistant offensive line coach.
Moreland, who had a short NFL career as a player that started as a tight end for the Jets back in 2000, joined the Western Michigan for second stint back in 2017. Prior to that, he coached the tight ends at Air Force and the tackles and tight ends at Syracuse.
Other stops in his coaching career include Elmhurst (D-III - IL), and Saint Joseph's (D-II - IN), where he served as an assistant at both stops
During his time coaching the tight ends at the major college level, Moreland has had three semifinalsts for the John Mackey award that goes annually to the best tight end in college football.
Moreland played his college ball for WMU in Kalamazoo, and was named the Broncos offensive MVP in 1999.
The move brings the total number of offensive coordinator changes in college football over the 30 mark.
