Mario Cristobal: Recruiting isn't about tweeting or making edits, it's about what you consistently do (Featured)

An offensive line coach at his core, there's no mistaking that Mario Cristobal is one hundred percent more about substance than meaningless hype.

That was never more evident than his response to a question on whether playing in the Fiesta Bowl helps the Ducks with recruiting.

"While it's great to have an appearance there, I think that you strengthen your foothold by what you do year in and year out as a program, as opposed to tweeting, or making edits about what you're going to do."

"I think it's important to do what you actually proclaim to do, and I think our program, year in and year out over the last couple years has really continued to advance and the trajectory is excellent."

Is there a program in particular that Cristobal had in mind with that comment? Could he be talking about PAC-12 title game opponent USC? Or was that a comment directed nationally to a different program altogether.

For now, we'll have to let our imaginations fill in the blank on that. While you certainly have to embrace social media and your creative department to a degree to connect with players today, old school coaches and traditionalists will really like that response from Cristobal.

The Ducks will face Iowa State in the Fiesta Bowl on January 2nd in Glendale, Arizona.
