Former LSU special teams coordinator Brian Polian lands new opportunity (Brian Polian)

After 25 years in the coaching profession, Brian Polian is officially taking on a new challenge.

Polian spent last season as the special teams coordinator at LSU under Brian Kelly, before transitioning into a GM role for the program more recently, and was with Kelly in South Bend as part of the Fighting Irish staff before leaving for Baton Rouge.

Today, Polian was announced as the new director of athletics at his alma mater, John Carroll (D-III - OH).

It marks a homecoming for Polian, who played alongside one of John Carroll's most well known alumns in 10+ year NFL veteran London Fletcher. and earned second-team All Conference honors on a great Blue Streaks team in 1996.

Jeff Behrman, the current head coach of the John Carroll program, was also one of Polian's teammates in the mid-90's.

Now, Polian is set to bring his experience back to Northeast Ohio to lead John Carroll athletics into the future.

Before his time with Brian Kelly, Polian served as the head coach at Nevada from 2013-17, where he helped lead the Wolf Pack to two bowl games. He also spent time on staffs at Texas A&M, Buffalo, UCF, and Michigan State during his over two-decades in major college football.

The appointment of Polian as the school's new athletic director is the latest bullet point for that argument.
