Every moment is an event.
And the start of Deion Sanders's weekly press conference Tuesday was no different.
Colorado's second-year leader, Deion Sanders was joined at the start of his media gathering with Piper, a young girl from the area who won a contest through Aflac and Children's Hospital of Colorado.
Piper took a couple of scripted questions and then Sanders paused the spectacle for photos, which is when he delivered his jab at Colorado State and head coach Jay Norvell.
The Buffaloes smoked the Rams last week, 28-9, and Coach Prime still hasn't forgotten Norvell's comments that Sanders said targeted his mother. Piper said Deion Sanders had invited her to "help him coach."
"That’s right, Piper. We need all the help we can get," he said.
"Put your shades on, they hate when we do that. Oh, that was last week."
Colorado, now 2-1 with wins against North Dakota State and CSU sandwiched against a road loss at Nebraska, hosts Baylor this week in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams. Fox has the broadcast Saturday night at 8 ET.
The Buffs are slight favorites, according to oddsmakers, and could match last year's 3-1 start with a win.
Sanders has not yet but expects to hear from his close friend, former Baylor Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Robert Griffin III.
"I know I’m going to get a text some way, somehow this week [from Griffin]," Sanders said. "You’ve got to understand, RG3, when he was at Baylor, it was poetry in motion. He had the country by the throat and he was applying pressure.
"I love what he stands for as an athlete, as a father, as a man, period. Especially for our culture. I’ve got nothing but love for RG3. But I’m pretty sure he’s going to be conflicted inside because he wants us to do our thing but that’s his alma mater. I’m pretty sure he’s going to be wearing green with probably a gold necklace on."
As for his team's matchup with Dave Aranda's Baylor Bears, Deion Sanders says this game is no bigger than any other game -- because every game is monumental.
"Every game means a lot to us. Every single game," he said. "We have to approach every game like it’s a dern Super Bowl or like it’s the last one we’ll ever play or be a part of to coach."
But Coach Prime says the visitors will have their work cut out for them defending Colorado's aerial attack -- as long as star quarterback Shedeur Sanders is kept upright.
"Our receivers are a tough cover," Deion Sanders said. "When we’re protecting our quarterback, our receivers are a tremendously tough cover.
"So, I don’t wish that on anybody. I feel like we could do some phenomenal things as they feel like they could shut us down in some areas of concern.
"But, our guys are pretty good. We’ve just got to give our quarterback a little time and we’re okay."
