James Madison (FCS - VA) running backs coach Matt Merritt joined us to talk about his philosophy on creating second-level finishers in his running back group, and how that developed skill set directly correlates to the all-important explosive plays for your offense.
Other great nuggets I picked up from Merritt's presentation:
- How he utilizes the "butter stick" pad
- Why he encourages his guys to try out new moves in practice
- How often he demonstrates his drills showing up in games to his guys
