If you're new to the culture that Deion Sanders has strived to create at both Jackson State (FCS - MS), and now Colorado, there is no gray area. Things are very black and white and players are always held accountable
So as players get set for a pause in practices for spring break, Coach Prime set the scene among his players for the expectations he and the coaching staff have for players during the break in action.
Sanders shared last week that he hates the "honeymoon pause" in the practices, so he and the staff have given Buffs players strict instructions on working out three times a week until they return and challenged them to "figure it out."
"We gave you a workout schedule that is three days a week. Coaches will make sure we're checking with kids during break to make sure you're doing what you're supposed to."
"If you don't do anything over the next several days, because we are going to run you like crazy on that Monday morning."
Then came the vow to clean out lockers, for those that aren't on time that Monday they're slated to start back up.
"If you are late to that [Monday] meeting, there will be consequences. Your locker will be cleared out. It will be cleaned. I'm not threatening you or anything, it just is what it is."
A lot old school coaches like to talk about how technology has negatively impacted student athletes today, but Prime and his staff are harnessing social media and technology to showcase accountability while their guys are on break.
Near the end of his post practice talk, Sanders made it very clear that they're going to post the videos players are being asked to send in on their workouts, so it's very clear for all to see who is putting in the work, and who choosing not to.
