Jim Harbaugh's departure for the Chargers, and the subsequent naming of Sherrone Moore as the new head coach in Ann Arbor, continues to spark moves in Ann Arbor.
In addition to Doug Mallory joining the Ravens, as we wrote about last night, and the departures of Jay Harbaugh (to the Seahawks) and Jessie Minter (to the Chargers), the Wolverines are reportedly set to lose another staffer to the NFL.
Dylan Roney, a graduate assistant for the program, is expected to be joining Jim Harbaugh's staff in LA according to a report from MLive.
Over the last two seasons, Roney has contributed on the defensive side of the ball, working closely with defensive line coach Mike Elston as well as with the Michigan outside linebackers
Roney, a former three-year starting defensive end at Division II power Ferris State, has a undetermined role with the Chargers at this point, the report adds.
Before joining the Michigan staff, Roney served as a defensive analyst at Illinois and worked as a graduate assistant with the defensive line at Western Kentucky in 2019.
At the conclusion of his playing career, he briefly joined the coaching staff at Ferris State, first as a graduate assistant and then as a defensive line coach / recruiting coordinator for Tony Annese's staff.
In LA, he would join fellow Michigan staffers in Minter and strength and conditioning coach Ben Herbert, both of which have yet to be formally announced.
