Hours after we shared that Washington co-defensive coordinator William Inge was set to join Kalen DeBoer's staff, the Tide are set to add an Oklahoma staffer.
According to multiple reports tonight, Jay Nunez is leaving the staff at Oklahoma to join DeBoer in Tuscaloosa as special teams coordinator.
Parker Thune was among the first to report the news.
Nunez worked in a senior special teams analyst role for the Sooners.
Before joining the staff in Norman prior to the 2022 season, Nunez spent five seasons on the staff at Eastern Michigan in a variety of roles.
Nunez reportedly worked in the increasingly modern version of a special teams role at Oklahoma, where he oversaw all special teams units, but because he had an analyst role he was unable to coach them on game day. That responsibility falling on the assistant coaches, as assigned by Brent Venables.
