Maryland: The University of Maryland is currently accepting applications to fill four (4) Spring 2020 volunteer internship positions. Qualified candidates would work with the Olympic Strength and Conditioning Department. This is an UNPAID position that is responsible for assisting the UMD Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the Spring 2020 program (January 20th-May 8th), set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion of Bachelor’s degree by the commencement of the intern program/current pursuit of a graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (USAW, CSCS, CSCCa). UMass Lowell: The University of Massachusetts Lowell is currently accepting applications for their Spring 2020 Volunteer Sports Performance Internship positions (January- May). Interns will have the opportunity to learn from our Sports Performance team and aid in the development of the University’s Division 1 Athletic Programs. Responsibilities: Assist the Sports Performance staff with the day-to-day operations of the weight room, aid in the supervision and execution of the training programs for all of the university’s athletic programs. Qualifications: Applicants should be working towards completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or a related field, and must be looking to pursuing or hold a SCCC, CSCS or USA Weight Lifting Certification. Mercer: Mercer University Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking applicants who are highly motivated to fill internship positions for the spring of 2020 starting the week of January 6th, 2020 and going through May 1st, 2020. This is an UNPAID, volunteer position. Interns will also have the chance to earn additional responsibilities. Academic credits can be applied towards an Exercise Science or related Undergraduate or Graduate program if necessary. With education through experience being our main goal, interns will be provided and challenged with the key qualities of success in the Strength and Conditioning field. This includes professional development and continuing education, daily opportunities to learn and grow as a leader, expansion of network connections, teaching student-athletes proper lifting technique, and daily weight room maintenance. While working with Football, and all other Division I athletic programs, interns will gain practical coaching experience in accordance with the philosophy of the department and can begin to lay the groundwork for future opportunities with a consideration and recommendation for future employment. Qualifications include strong work ethic, attention to detail, enthusiasm, effective communication skills, positive energy, willingness to work, Bachelor’s degree or a degree in process, hold certification(s) and/or seeking to get certified in at least one of the major certifications below. Indiana State: Indiana State Strength and Conditioning is looking for candidates to fulfill internship positions for the Spring 2020 semester. This is an UNPAID volunteer position; however, interns will receive hands on experience working with numerous sports at the Division-1 level. Interns will undergo an intern curriculum that will help better prepare them for future opportunities. Responsibilities include: maintenance of the weight room, setup and break down of training sessions, upkeep and management of the fueling station and other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications include: pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related field, desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, a strong work ethic, willingness to learn and availability. Sanford Power (Bismark - ND): Sanford POWER is now accepting applications for a FULL TIME Strength and Conditioning coach with benefits. Qualifications include a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field of exercise science, kinesiology, health, physical education, recreation or other closely related discipline is required. Master's degree in one of the identified bachelor's degree areas is preferred. Highly desirable two or more years of experience in the strength and conditioning field at the high school, college, professional or private sector. Competency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six weeks of employment and certification required and maintained. CSCS. Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. A team minded professional who embraces growth and challenges. Ability to work in individual, small group and team settings. Thorough understanding of the physiological basis of exercise and the ability to program/instruct according to the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and USA Weightlifting (USAW) guidelines. Ability to administer and interpret results for submaximal cardiovascular and fitness assessments. Assists in the promotion of POWER services and in the development of new programming. Texas Rangers: The Texas Rangers are seeking multiple minor league strength and conditioning coaches for the 2020 season. Positions available range from the Dominican Republic, rehabilitation and full season affiliate strength and conditioning coaches.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and implementing programs including: Speed, Conditioning, Strength Training, Warm Ups, Mobility, and Recovery Modalities.
- Tracking and monitoring player progress
- Implement sports science initiatives
- Need to communicate within and across departments (Nutrition, ATC, Hitting, Pitching etc.)
- Need to constantly motivate and impact young athletes
- Need to be able to effectively schedule daily and weekly training schedules
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in exercise or related field
- C.S.C.S
- First Aid/CPR Certified
- Proficient in information and data management
- Possible Relocation to Phoenix, AZ or the Dominican Republic for the season (dependent on position)

Metropolitan State University of Denver (CO): The Metropolitan State University of Denver Strength & Conditioning Department is actively seeking hard working applicants for internship positions working with all varsity sports within our program for the Spring Term 2020 (January 6th – May 15). Interns will have the ability to learn from a CSCCa Approved Mentor. The intent of the internship is to provide a semester of hands-on training to prepare the candidate to take on the next level position in strength and conditioning as either a graduate assistant or full-time strength coach. Interns are expected to participate in a comprehensive and challenging educational program, including white board discussion and hands-on experience in the following areas: program design, exercise instruction, Olympic lifting progressions and techniques, plyometrics, speed and agility techniques, energy system development, regeneration methods, nutritional basics, leadership and facility and athlete management. Internship responsibilities will include various duties within the MSU Denver Strength & Conditioning Department. Hours will vary throughout the semester and may include early morning, late afternoon hours, and weekends. Previous weight room or athletic coaching experience is a plus. Requirements: 1) CPR/AED/First Aid 2) Must be working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field 3) Must have, or working towards CSCS, SCCC, USAW, etc. 4) Must have strong desire to pursue a career in the strength and conditioning profession 4) Must be pro-active, excellent work ethic, and disciplined.
