Maine Maritime (D-III): Maine Maritime Academy is accepting applications for a Football Defensive Coordinator/Strength and Conditioning Coordinator. This position is full-time under the dual supervision of the Director of Athletics and the Head Football Coach. The employee serves as the defensive coordinator of the football team and aids in running the program in accordance with Maine Maritime Academy, NEWMAC, and NCAA rules, regulations and policies. The employee must be committed to promoting academic and athletic achievement in a way that is fully aligned with the mission of Maine Maritime Academy Athletics and the NCAA Division III philosophy. New Research: Addressing Vulnerabilities in Using Cover 1 to Defend RPO’s –Cover 1 structures have been the defensive answer this spring to defend the RPO game. Because the pre-snap disguise element is gone, teaching man cover fundamentals from both press and off position are now put at a premium. Which is why X&O Labs researched how six 4-2-5 programs were implementing man free coverage structures specifically to defend RPO’s. Contributors include defensive coordinators from Morehead State University, Husson University, Bowie State University, Colorado Mesa University, Southern Arkansas University and Utica College. The research is segmented into alleviating the main issues these programs were having in utilizing cover one including: defending compressed and stack formations, teaching perimeter defenders the leverage to play both run/pass components and training box defenders to fit both zone and gap run concepts. Jackson State (FCS - MS): The Jackson State University football program is seeking multiple graduate assistants; best candidates available. Responsibilities include position coaching, film breakdown, recruiting and other duties as assigned by the head coach and coordinators. This is a position to gain valuable college coaching experience as well as references for your career. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, written and oral skills, and be very organized. Bachelor’s degree and acceptance into graduate school is required. Playing / coaching experience preferred. This is a stipend position with no housing or meals. LA Chargers: Mississippi Valley State (FCS) offensive coordinator Ray Caldwell has been selected to participate in the Bill Walsh Diversity coaching fellowship with the Chargers organization, per source.
Kansas City Chiefs: Tim Terry, the assistant director of pro personnel with the Packers, is being hired as the new director of pro personnel, per Ian Rapoport.
Houston Texans: Per Alex Marvez, Jimmy Raye III will replace Brian Gaine as player personnel director. Raye last served as the VP of football operations with the Colts, and he has 22 seasons total in the NFL, with 17 of them with the Chargers.
Western State (D-II - CO): Western State is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of offensive intern (TEs / FBs) for the 2017 season. Preference will be given to those who have previous playing/coaching experience with OL or TEs at the college/high school level. The position will pay a stipend of up to $4,000, with no benefits.
