SIU Edwardsville (SIUE): SIUE is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Graduate Assistant Athletic Performance Coach. Candidates must have a great work ethic, strong communication skills, and be passionate about continually progressing as a strength and conditioning professional. The position requires certification in First Aid and CPR, and progress towards CSCS and or SCCC. Preference will be given to applicants that have already obtained at least one of the aforementioned certifications. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the Director in the design and implementation of training programs; meeting with sport coaches and athletic trainers to collaborate on program design and modifications; weight room supervision; daily upkeep and maintenance of equipment; and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Performance. The Graduate Assistant position is a two-year assignment beginning with the FALL of the 2024- 2026 academic year and includes a tuition waiver for graduate credit hours and a monthly stipend. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2024. Colorado School of Mines: Colorado School of Mines (CO): The Colorado School of Mines Strength & Conditioning Department is actively seeking hard-working applicants for College-Credit internship positions working with all varsity sports within our program for the Spring Term 2024 (June 3rd – August 15th). Interns will have the ability to learn from a CSCCa Approved Mentor. The internship will also work with your department to fulfill credits for course work for qualifying interns. The intent of the internship is to provide a semester of hands-on training to prepare the candidate to take on the next level position in strength and conditioning/sports science/athletic performance as either a graduate assistant or full-time coach. Interns are expected to participate in a comprehensive and challenging educational program, including whiteboard discussion and hands-on experience in the following areas: program design, biomechanics, football, and Olympic program development, exercise instruction, Olympic lifting progressions and techniques, plyometrics, speed and agility techniques, energy system development, regeneration methods, nutritional basics, leadership and facility and athlete management. Internship responsibilities will include various duties within the Colorado School of Mines Strength and Conditioning Department. Hours will vary throughout the semester and may include early morning, late afternoon hours, and weekends. Previous weight room or athletic coaching experience is a plus. Washington: The University of Washington Football S&C department is now accepting applications for Volunteer Interns for Summer 1 2024. Completing this internship provides valuable Power 5 Division 1 Football S&C experience as well as the potential for an earned recommendation from our staff. A number of our former interns have used this experience to propel themselves into very successful careers in S&C. You will be hands-on working with our athletes, participating in a 5 week curriculum, and completing lectures/assignments/labs that will prepare you to be a better Strength & Conditioning Coach. Additionally, our internship counts toward the CSCCA practicum experience requirement. Successful applicants should have a strong work ethic and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. This 5 week volunteer internship will start on Thursday 4/25/24 and end approximately Friday 5/31/24. Georgia Tech: The Georgia Tech Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for Volunteer Interns for the Summer of 2024. This internship will begin May, 2024 and will conclude at the end of August, 2024 with an option to stay another quarter. This is an unpaid position. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for Men’s & Women’s Basketball and Volleyball. All applicants should have, or be working towards an accredited certification (CSCS or SCCC). Other preferred qualifications include previous coaching in a collegiate setting. Wyoming: The University of Wyoming Football Sports Performance Department is now accepting applications for highly motivated volunteer interns for summer 2024 (May 13th through July). These positions are UNPAID. Successful candidates will work directly with football and assist with all training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules. Responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to, the following: hands on experience assisting the staff in all aspects of the strength and speed programs; assisting with GPS, Force Plates, velocity based training, and other performance tracking systems. Data collection and interpretation; setting up and breaking down of training sessions; assisting with routine maintenance of training facilities; as well as other assigned duties. This internship program emphasizes educating, empowering and utilizing interns in a way that will help them become better coaches that are equipped to best serve student athletes and operate professionally at a high level. Minimum Requirements: a current CPR/AED certification. Ideal candidates possess a strong work ethic, punctuality, high level of attention to detail, desire to learn, and a passion to become a strength and conditioning professional. Preferred qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field. SCCC, CSCS, USAW certifications or working towards them. Experience as a collegiate athlete.
