Auburn: Oklahoma State running backs coach Curtis Luper has accepted an offer to join Gene Chizik's staff at Auburn.  Luper is expected to coach the running backs.  Also, despite reports on the internet, FootballScoop has confirmed that South Carolina defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson is not a candidate as Auburn's defensive coordinator.  We do hear that Chizik is also interested in hiring Oklahoma State wide receivers coach Trooper Taylor.

Cal Poly: Oregon offensive line coach Steve Greatwood is interested and has spoken with Cal Poly officials about the head coaching position.  San Francisco 49ers special teams assistant Dave Fipp is longer a candidate.

Central Florida: Tim Salem will move from offensive coordinator to tight ends / special teams coach.  Charlie Taafe has been hired as the new offensive coordinator.  George Godsey moves from quarterbacks to running backs.  Brent Key moves from tight ends to offensive line.

Illinois: We hear TCU offensive coordinator Mike Schultz will join the Illinois staff in the same capacity. Defensive line coach Tom Sims will not return to the staff.

Illinois State: Sources tell FootballScoop that Illinois State has hired Louisiana-Monroe offensive coordinator Steve Farmer.  Farmer will serve as offensive coordinator at Illinois State.

LSU: We hear Chavis wants to bring former Tennessee defensive line coach Dan Brooks to LSU.  We've also heard the Chicago Bears assistant Brick Haley is a candidate to join the LSU staff. 

Miami (FL): Sources tell FootballScoop that NY Jets assistant Noel Mazzone is interested the Miami offensive coordinator job.  We also hear the Randy Shannon has interest in Kentucky quarterbacks coach Randy Sanders.

North Carolina A&T: We hear that Tennessee State coach James Webster is no longer a candidate.

Rice: Head coach Dave Bailiff has agreed to a new 5-year contract.  Also, former Michigan running back Sam McGuffie is transferring to Rice.

San Diego State: We hear that former Cal wide receivers coach and current St. Mary's HS head coach Dan Ferrigno will join Brady Hoke's staff at San Diego State.

Tulsa: We hear Clemson assistant Ron West will interview with Tulsa head coach Todd Graham.  West coaches the outside linebackers at Clemson.


Wayne State College: Defensive Graduate Assistant. Wayne State College (NCAA Division II Northern Sun Conference) located in Wayne, Nebraska has an immediate opening for a Defensive Graduate Assistant. The Defensive graduate Assistant will be primarily responsible for the Linebacker Position. The position requires a highly motivated person to assist with the implementation of practices, evaluation of prospective student athletes, off and on campus recruiting, scouting opponents, and other duties as assigned by the head coach.  Graduate Assistantships are granted based on acceptance into Graduate School at Wayne State College. Belhaven College (MS): As FootballScoop first reported, Bacone College head coach Joseph Thrasher will be named head football coach at Belhaven College.

Clemson: Alabama head defensive coach Kevin Steele will become the new defensive coordinator at Clemson.

Iowa State: Scott Fountain has been retained.  Fountain will coach the tight ends and tackles.

Miami (OH): We hear Mike Haywood has hired Bill Elias.  Elias is the current athletic director at Gannon University and is a former LSU assistant.

Oklahoma State: Sources tell FootballScoop that Pittsburgh defensive coordinator Phil Bennett is interested in joining the Oklahoma State staff as defensive coordinator.

UCLA: Sources tell FootballScoop that UCLA head coach Rich Neuheisal is interested in talking with veteran defensive coordinator John Thompson and Montana head coach Bobby Hauck regarding the Bruin's defensive coordinator job. 

UT-Chattanooga: UT-Martin associate head coach Marcus Satterfield will be the offensive coordinator.  Former Hofstra defensive coordinator Mike Elko is the new defensive coordinator at UTC.  Tennessee State offensive line coach Russ Ehrenfeld will coach the offensive line.  Sewanne University assistant Carter Cardwell will be a defensive assistant.  Jason McManus and Fred Tate have been retained.  McManus will coach the wide receivers and serve as recruiting coordinator.  Tate will coach the defensive line.  Former University of Memphis player, Marcus West, will be a defensive assistant.  West coached at Wartburg College in Iowa last season.

Cal: Head coach Jeff Tedford has agreed to a 2-year contract extension.

New Orleans Saints: We hear Denver Broncos assistant Bill Johnson is expected to talk with New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton about joining the Saints staff as defensive line coach.

LSU: The Times-Picayune Newspaper is reporting that San Francisco 49ers secondary coach Vance Joseph could be joining the LSU staff. 

Kansas State: Oregon assistant Robin Pfulgrad is not a candidate to join the staff at Kansas State.

Miami (OH): We hear head coach Mike Haywood has talked with Morris Watts and Carl Reese about joining the Miami staff.

San Francisco 49ers: We hear the Jason Tarver may become the next linebackers coach for the 49ers.

Syracuse: Sources tell FootballScoop that former Michigan defensive coordinator Scott Shafer has agreed to become the new defensive coordinator at Syracuse.

Lincoln University (MO): We hear interviews begin next week.  Ryan Held (former SW Oklahoma head coach), Nathan Cochran (Blackburn College), and one current assistant coach will interview for the head coaching job.

Louisville: We hear that former Utah State head coach Brent Guy has accepted a position on the Louisville coaching staff.  It is likely that Guy will coach the linebackers.

North Alabama: Former Auburn head coach Terry Bowden has accepted the head coaching job at University of North Alabama.

Tulsa: Head coach Todd Graham has agreed to a new 10-year contract.  There is a buyout in the contract.  Tulsa hopes to keep Graham at least through the 2018-2019 season.

Tennessee: As FootballScoop reported earlier in the day, multiple reports about Ed Orgeron joining the LSU staff were inaccurate.  FootballScoop has now learned that Orgeron has now accepted the associate head coach / recruiting coordinator / defensive line position at Tennessee.  ESPN is reporting Orgeron will make $650,000 per year.
