Former Green Bay Packers assistant, and Edmonton Eskimos head coach Pete Kettela passed away recently. Please keep his loved ones in your prayers.
USC: Ed Orgeron announced earlier today that he is in the process of bringing on his good friend Pete Jenkins as assistant defensive line coach. The move should be official next week.
Miami (OH): During his press conference yesterday, interim head coach Mike Bath announced that the coaching staff will shift around a bit. Bath will serve as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, grad assistant Matt Mountjoy will now coach the tight ends and running backs, Mark Spencer (who had been coaching the running backs) will now coach the receivers. On the other side of the ball, Andrew Marlatt (safeties) and Ron Carpenter (corners) will share the duties of co-special teams coordinator.

Longtime college assistant coach Mike Freidel (who most recently served on staff at South Dakota) passed away on Sunday at the age of 57. Please keep his family in your prayers.

Texas: The Austin-American Statesman's Kirk Bohls reports that Bob Bowlsby is not interested in the Texas AD job and remains committed to his duties as the Big 12 commissioner, stating "I made commitment to Big 12 for at least 5 years, I will not renege on that promise."
USC: Tony Dungy told the Dan Patrick Show USC representatives contacted him to gauge his interest in and to seek his feedback on the Trojans' head coaching job. Dungy said he told USC that he personally isn't interested but offered his assistance in the process. Update: The school now states that call was made by an impostor claiming to be a USC athletics representative.

UAB: Garrick McGee has promoted Jimmy Williams to defensive coordinator. Reggie Johnson remains on staff and will continue to coach the outside linebackers. Williams was coaching the inside linebackers / assistant head coach.
Miami (OH): Head coach Don Treadwell, as well as offensive coordinator John Klacik, have both been dismissed. Sources tell us that quarterbacks/receivers coach Mike Bath will take over as interim head coach. We also hear that Taylor Housewright will join the staff (former quarterback who played under Bath at Ashland).

College Football Playoff: Former Stanford, Notre Dame and Washington head coach Tyrone Willingham and former USA Today reporter Steve Wieberg will join the College Football Playoff selection committee according to Brett McMurphy. Willingham will be the first coach to join the committee. Update: McMurphy also reports former Nebraska coach/athletics director Tom Osborne will also join the committee.

Northwestern: The Wildcats have announced a $10 million endowment for the athletics director position, to be named after Chris and Courtney Combe. Jim Phillips has been Northwestern's AD since April of 2008.
