Thursday Morning: Coaches Quick Hits

Hudson Catholic HS (NJ): Former Rutgers assistant coach Chris Demarest is the new AD / head football coach at Hudson Catholic HS.

Savannah State: McCormick HS (SC) offensive coordinator, C.J. Frye, has accepted the running backs job at Savannah State.  Frye once served as a graduate assistant coach at South Carolina.  Also, former Appalachian State wide receiver, Hans Batichon, has joined the staff as wide receivers coach. 

Montana: Former University of Oregon wide receivers coach, Robin Pflugrad, has joined the Montana staff as wide receivers coach.

Youngstown State: Former Central Michigan special teams coordinator, Mike Kolakowski, has joined the Youngstown Staff a few weeks ago.  Kolakowski will coach the safeties.  Kolakowski served as the defensive coordinator at Youngstown State from 2004-2006.

Chowan University: Former Texas Tech intern, Roy Rodriguez, has accepted the defensive line job at Chowan.

Western New England College: Our sources have just told us that Brian Cain has accepted the defensive line job at Western New England.  Cain was most recently the head coach of the Oslo Vikings in Norway.  He previously coached the defensive line at Loras College and Kenyon College.

Lambuth University: FootballScoop has just learned that veteran coach Ron Dickerson has accepted the defensive backs job at Lambuth University.  Dickerson was once the head football coach at Temple University and Alabama State.  He was also the first ever president of the Black Coaches Association. 

SMU: Former Hawaii offensive lineman Adrian Klemm has joined the SMU coaching staff as offensive line coach.  We hear offensive line coach Dennis McKnight will take over the special teams.

Southeastern Louisiana University: We are hearing the Angelo State co-defensive coordinator / defensive line coach, Brandon Lacy, has accepted the defensive ends job at SLU.

2010 and 2011 Open Dates Database: Coaches and athletic directors are welcome to submit their open dates.  We would like to release the 2011 database sometime next week.

Johns Hopkins: Former Towson head coach, Gordy Coombs, has joined the Hopkins' staff at a volunteer coach.  Coombs will coach the strong safeties.

UT-Martin: Former Miami (OH) defensive line coach, Jimmy Lindsey, is the new defensive line coach at UT-Martin.  Lindsey served as the defensive line coach at Miami (OH) under former head coach Shane Montgomery. Also, offensive graduate assistant Carter Barfield has been promoted to a full-time assistant coaching position.  Barfield will coach the UTM quarterbacks this season after working with the wide receivers last season as a GA.

Peru State College: in Peru, NE is looking to fill a video coordinator/assistant coach position.  This is a part-time position August thru December and pays $3,000. East Central University (OK): We hear Justin Deason has been hired as the defensive coordinator.  Deason previously served as the outside linebackers / special teams coach at West Texas A&M.  Former defensive coordinator, Todd Fugett, has retired.

Tiffin University: Ashland University video coordinator, John Rini, has accepted the offensive GA position at Tiffin University.

Stephen F. Austin: Jack Willingham has accepeted the running backs job at SFA.  Willingham previously served as the inside receivers coach at West Texas A&M. 

Trinity Catholic HS (FL): Your boy Reidel Anthony has joined the staff as the wide receivers coach.  Anthony was a standout wide receiver at the University of Florida and with the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Kentucky State: Head coach Fred T. Farrier will not return.

UNC: UNC has promoted Wes Satterfield to offensive GA.  Daniel Inman is set to serve as offensive quality control.

Tulane: Our sources have just told us that former Fleming HS (FL) assistant, Joel Brighton, has just accepted the defensive GA position at Tulane.

It always happens this time of year.  Right before August practice begins, 2-3 really good jobs open up.

Portland State University: an NCAA FCS institution and a member of the Big Sky Conference, is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Assistant Football Coach/Wide Receivers.  The position is responsible for assisting in all aspects of developing and advancing a competitive football program in the Big Sky Conference. This includes, but is not limited to: coaching, recruiting, and counseling student-athletes; managing selected administrative duties of the program; fundraising and public relations; supervising assistants. Compliance with all the rules and regulations of the university, NCAA, and Big Sky Conference is expected. Qualifications: Bachelor?s degree required or NFL Assistant coaching experience.  Minimum three years collegiate coaching / collegiate competition required. Preferred qualifications: Masters degree with five years collegiate coaching experience and/or NFL coaching experience.  Demonstrate excellent professional/interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrate a commitment to the total welfare of student-athletes.  Demonstrate a commitment to developing a successful Division I football program both academically and athletically. Must become 1st Aid/CPR certified before on field coaching occurs.
