Army: Sources tell FootballScoop that Army is interested in South Florida assistant Greg Gregory.  We hear Army really wants to hire a head coach with ties to Bob Sutton and/or Jim Young, and would like to return to option football.  Another coach that Army will likely speak with is Kansas assistant Ed Warriner.  

Florida Atlantic: Our sources tell us that Cypress Bay HS (FL) head coach Mark Guandolo has spoken with Howard Schnellenberger about the offensive coordinator position.  Guandolo is high respected in Broward and Dade county. 

LSU: We hear LSU offensive GA Jason Beck has accepted the quarterbacks position at Weber State.

Auburn: Sources tell FootballScoop that Tennessee Tech head coach Watson Brown is interested in the offensive coordinator job at Auburn.  Brown is the former head coach at UAB.  He is also the brother of Texas Longhorns head coach Mack Brown, who hired Gene Chizik a few years back. 

Florida Atlantic: We expect to have an update on the Florida Atlantic offensive coordinator job this afternoon.

Syracuse: We hear Nassau Community College head coach John Anselmo will be joining Doug Marrone's staff at Syracuse.  Anselmo will likely coach the secondary.

USC: Pete Carroll has offered the offensive GA position to Justin Mesa, who served as an administrative assistant with the Trojans this season.

UT-Chattanooga: We hear search is down to Russ Huesman (Richmond DC) and Jason Simpson (UT-Martin head coach).  Sources tell FootballScoop that Dave Clawson is making a strong push to hire Huesman as the defensive coordinator at Bowling Green.  Richmond plays in the D-IAA national championship game this weekend, so a decision should come soon.

Washington: Steve Sarkisian is not expected to retain any current members of the UW coaching staff including long-time Washington assistant Chris Tormey. 


Tarleton State University: a Division II member of the Lone Star Conference, is taking applications for a restricted earnings QB Coach Position.  The position will include a 10 month contract and full benefits.  A Masters Degree is required and the position will start on January 15, 2009.  Please email resumes to Coach McElroy at <This email address is being protected from spambots. Illinois State: Purdue defensive coordinator Brock Spack has been hired as the new head football coach at Illinois State.

Yale: We hear the finalists for the head coaching job at Yale are Don Brown (UMASS head coach) and Tom Gilmore (Holy Cross head coach).

Washington: Steve Sarkisian has hired Cal offensive line coach Jim Michalczik as the Huskies new offensive coordinator.

Illinois State: Sources tell FootballScoop that Illinois State will hire a defensive minded head coach.  Georgia Tech's Jeff Monken and Georgia State's John Bond are no longer candidates.
