Despite there only being 11 12 FBS openings thus far, through the first 13 days of December FootballScoop has seen record traffic. We wanted to thank each and every one of you, especially all of you who send us the scoop or answer our calls when we call to verify. 

FAU: Sources tell us Arkansas defensive line coach Charlie Partridge has agreed to become the new head coach at FAU. Here's what you need to know.

Texas: Mack Brown has announced his resignation after 16 years as head coach at Texas. Tremendous career. Great coach. He will be missed. Mack will coach their bowl game against Oregon. Here's what you need to know.

Notre Dame: Brian Kelly stated today that he doesn't expect Mike Elston, or any of his other position coaches, to leave. 

TCU: Sonny Cumbie will join the TCU staff as quarterbacks coach reports Stefan Stevenson. 

Stephen F. Austin (FCS - TX): Sources confirm to us that Central Arkansas (FCS) head coach Clint Conque will be the new head coach at Stephen F. Austin. Conque just completed his 14th season at the helm at Central Arkansas winning over 100 games at the University. 

Weber State (FCS): Sources tell us that Southern Utah (FCS) "director of offense" Steve Clark and receivers coach Fesi Sitake are planning to join Jay Hill's staff at Weber State in similar roles.

Northern Colorado (FCS): Sources tell us that defensive coordinator / linebackers coach Zach Shay does not plan to return to the staff. 

Stillman College (D-II - AL): Defensive coordinator Dedrick Dodge and defensive line coach Jo Nixon will not return to the staff.  

High School Scoop: There were some huge coaching changes at the High School level yesterday. Multiple coaches with 6+ state championships moving to different programs. Don't see that much. 

Miami (Ohio): Illinois State offensive coordinator/offensive line coach George Barnett and quarterbacks coach Eric Koehler will join the staff at Miami (Ohio) the Bloomington (IL) Pantagraph has now confirmed (we originally told you this back on Dec 3 & 4). Brock Spack tells the Pantagraph that assistant offensive line coach Dan Clark will be promoted to offensive line coach and that he is working to fill the offensive coordinator / quarterbacks role from outside the program.

Texas: Mack Brown "will remain head coach of the Longhorns" reports Bobby Burton in Austin. Here's the rundown of one fascinating night

Alabama: Kirk Herbstreit reports that Nick Saban "has agreed" to a multi-year extension. Details to come... And Alabama has now announced they have "concluded a long term agreement" to keep Nick Saban in T-Town. The Strip will be rocking tonight. Update: TideSports.com reports Saban will now make between $7 million and $7.5 million. 

Stephen F. Austin: TCU receivers coach Curtis Luper has withdrawn from the process at Stephen F. Austin per Jeremy Clark

Marquette: Director of Athletics Larry Williams has resigned. 

Aurora (D-III - IL): Sources tell us that Rick Ponx has accepted the head coaching job at Aurora University. Ponx is the former defensive coordinator at North Central (D-III - IL) and has most recently served as their director of transfer admission.

TCU: As we told you this morning on Twitter, Sonny Cumbie has an offer to join the staff at TCU. Will update once a decision is made. 

North Dakota State (FCS): Sources tell us that NDSU offensive coordinator Brent Vigen, NDSU defensive coordinator Chris Klieman and Michigan State quarterbacks / recruiting coordinator Brad Salem are all candidates for the head job at NDSU. 

North Carolina Central (FCS): Sources tell us South Alabama receivers coach Jerry Mack has interviewed and is a candidate for the head job at NCCU. 

Livingstone College (D-II - NC): Livingstone is seeking to fill open dates in 2014. September 6 and 13 and November 15 are all available. Willing to play home or away vs. D-II, D-III or NAIA opponents. Please contact head coach Daryl Williams at 713-291-5040 to discuss. 

West Liberty (D-II - WV): Sources tell us that former All-American quarterback Zach Amedro has joined the staff and will coach the quarterbacks.

James Madison: Last night Matthew Stoss of the Daily News-Record tweeted that John DeFilippo (Oakland Raiders quarterbacks coach), Mike O'Cain (JMU offensive coordinator), and Rod Smith (Arizona co-offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach) are among the finalists for the head coaching job. We've reached out to a few guys and the feedback that we're getting is that DeFilippo has the best shot at this point.

Michigan State: Spartan Nation is reporting that Michigan State is working on a new deal for defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi worth between $800,000 and $875,000 with bonuses that would bring the total compensation to just under $1 million.

Albany (FCS - NY): Sources tell us Hampton (FCS - VA) defensive coordinator Bernard Clark Jr. will join Greg Gattuso's staff at Albany. 

Eastern Michigan: Chris Creighton has a 5 year deal worth $400,000 annually.

Rutgers: Kyle Flood is close to hiring Mitch Browning as offensive line coach per Tom Luicci of the Star-Ledger. Browning is currently the assistant head coach / offensive line / tight ends coach at Davidson  (FCS - NC). Luicci adds that Flood isn't expected to name a new defensive coordinator until after their bowl game in late December. 

Texas A&M: Kevin Sumlin's new deal will be a six-year contract worth $5 million a year with a $5 million buyout on Sumlin's end through 2016. If Sumlin is dismissed at any time, Texas A&M would have to pay him the remaining amount due under the contract.  

Houston Texans: With defensive coordinator Wade Phillips elevated to interim head coach, defensive backs coach Vance Joseph will call plays Sunday at Indianapolis. 

BC Lions (CFL): Mark Washington has been named the Lions' defensive coordinator. Washington coached the team's defensive backs for the past four seasons. 

Boise State: Bryan Harsin's agreement is five years / $6.5 million. Harsin will be paid $1 million in each of first two years. Boise State is paying the $1.75 million buyout to Arkansas State. The total salary pool is estimated at $2.2 million. (h/t @IDS_BroncoBeat for the info). 

Notre Dame: Co-defensive coordinator/cornerbacks coach Kerry Cooks will serve as defensive coordinator for the Irish's December 28 bowl game against Rutgers, the school has announced. 

UConn: The university confirms that Bob Diaco's contract begins at $1.5 million ($400,000 base salary plus $1.1 million additional) and increases by $50,000 per year over 5 years total. Diaco's incentives include one month's base salary for making a bowl game, up to $400,000 for winning the national championship. If Diaco remains head coach on December 31, 2018, he will receive a $500,000 retention bonus. Here's our write-up from today's press conference.

Southern (FCS - LA): Athletic director Will Broussard said today he granted permission to NCCU to speak with Dawson Odums but that it is his hope to be able to extend coach Odums' contract at Southern. 

Whitworth (D-III - WA): Former Idaho and Nevada head coach Chris Tormey is one of three finalists for Whitworth's head coaching job, according to the Spokesman-Review. The article also states that an offer will likely be made to one of the three finalists by Friday.

TCU: The Frogs have officially announced the hiring of Doug Meacham as offensive coordinator. 

Nevada: Defensive coordinator Scottie Hazelton put word out today that he is not, and never was, a candidate at North Dakota State. Hazelton loves being a defensive coordinator. 

Ave Maria (NAIA - FL): Ave Maria University is still looking to fill open dates on 8/30 or 9/6 for the upcoming 2014 season. Please contact Michael Armstrong if interested at [email protected].

Coffeyville CC (KS): Northwest Mississippi CC defensive coordinator / defensive line coach Ricky Coon has been added to the staff and will serve as defensive coordinator.

Arkansas Tech - (D-II): Arkansas Tech University (D-II): Arkansas Tech University is looking for football graduate assistants (defensive line and defensive backs). Qualifications include acceptance into the Arkansas Tech University Graduate Program. Graduate Assistant package includes 6 hours of tuition a semester, as well as a monthly stipend. Coaching or playing experience on the defensive line or defensive secondary is preferred but not required for the position. Review of candidates will begin immediately.          USA Today has released their 2013 database of Assistant Coaches salaries

Jim Harbaugh: Adam Schefter reports that Jim Harbaugh "flat out rejected" inquiries from USC earlier and states that he won't be a candidate at Texas. 

Pima CC (AZ): Jim Monaco has been elevated to interim head coach. Monaco coached the defensive line and served as the recruiting coordinator the past two seasons and steps in for former head coach Pat Nugent, who resigned back in November.

West Alabama: Sources tell us they don't expect any of the full time assistants at Kennesaw State to join Brett Gilliland's staff at West Alabama. 

Eastern Michigan: We are now told that new head coach Chris Creighton will not be bringing many, if any, of his staff from Drake. Will update...

Weber State (FCS): Utah tight ends / special teams coordinator Jay Hill will be the new head coach at Weber State. Salt Lake Tribune broke the news. Hill had been on staff at Utah in various capacities since 2001. 

Wofford (FCS - SC): Defensive coordinator / defensive line coach Jack Teachey has resigned and accepted a position with a local church. This was Coach Teachey's 20th season on staff at Wofford. 

Minnesota - Crookston (D-II): Mike Fritze had the "interim" tag removed today and is now head coach at Crookston. 

Drake (FCS): Drake has promoted special teams coordinator/offensive line coach Rick Fox to head coach following the departure of Chris Creighton. 

UConn: Sources tell us Notre Dame defensive coordinator Bob Diaco will be the new head coach at UConn. Sources tell us the deal is being papered now and will be official later tonight. Here's what you need to know.

Eastern Michigan: Sources tell us Drake head coach Chris Creighton will be the new head coach at Eastern Michigan. Here's what you need to know. Early word from sources is that Creighton will bring a significant portion of his staff from Drake to EMU. We will update...

FAU: Interim head coach Brian Wright has been told that he will not be the new head coach by AD Pat Chun (per Dieter Kurtenbach). 

Washington: Chris Petersen has brought the following Boise State assistants with him, according to the Bronco Beat; running backs coach Keith Bhonapha, defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, associate head coach / offensive line coach Chris Strausser, and secondary coach Jimmy Lake.

Central Washington (D-II): The four finalists for the head coaching job are Chris Tormey (former Idaho and Nevada head coach), Ian Shoemaker (co-offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach at St. Cloud State), Mat Taylor (head coach at Skyline HS), and John Graham (Eastern Washington associate head coach / defensive coordinator), according to the Yakima Herald.

Carnegie Mellon (D-III - PA): After 28 years as the offensive coordinator (and 29 overall with the program), Rich Erdelyi has announced that he will retire, effective June 30, 2014.

Elon: Ball State offensive coordinator Rich Skrosky will be the new head coach at Elon. Skrosky has been an innovative and highly successful offensive coordinator on Pete Lembo's staff for years (been with Lembo since 2006). We think he will do well at Elon. 

Nebraska-Kearney (D-II): The University of Nebraska Kearney seeks highly qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Football Coach (receivers) / lecturer for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Kinesiology and Sport Sciences Department. Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field and must work toward completion of a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology and Sport Sciences field, Master’s degree in Kinesiology and Sport Sciences or related field, more than 5 years coaching experience in intercollegiate football at the Division II or higher level. Virginia Union: Former Virginia Union and Hampton head coach Joe Taylor will be announced as the new athletic director.

North Carolina Central: Sources tell us that Southern head coach Dawson Odums is interviewing for the head job at his Alma Mater, NCCU. 

UConn: Sources tell us that after meeting with UConn athletic director Warde Manuel this morning Pat Narduzzi has turned down the opportunity to become UConn's next head coach. Additional details to come...

Qualifications include acceptance into the Dakota Wesleyan University Graduate Program. Graduate Assistant package includes a 2/3 tuition waiver and a small stipend. Housing options are available. Arkansas State: Defensive coordinator John Thompson will coach the Red Wolves in their Jan. 5 bowl game against Ball State. 

North Dakota: With the deadline to apply for the head coaching position now behind us, here is a full list of who has applied for the job. Lots of notable names are in the mix.

Wyoming: Details of Craig Bohl's contract have been unveiled - Bohl has signed a five-year deal paying him at least $750,000 in 2014 and at least $950,000 in 2018. 

Hardin-Simmons (D-III - TX): Wide receivers coach Joey McQueen will be the new head coach at Florence (TX) High School.

Boise State: Sources confirm to us that Bryan Harsin will be the new head coach at Boise State. Update> ESPN and others confirming the same now. Steven Godfrey reports that Koetter "had hesitations and a formal offer was made to Harsin last night." 

Maine: The three finalists for the director of athletics position at Maine are Karlton Creech (senior associate AD at North Carolina, Jim Herlihy (director of athletics at the University of Montevallo), and Scott Kull (associate AD for external operations at TCU). Candidates will begin interviewing on December 15.

Virginia Military (FCS - VA): VMI is in need of a home game on October 18, 2014. Will pay guarantee or return in 2017. If interested, please contact Tom Shupe, Associate Director of Athletics, at 540-464-7529 or via email at [email protected]

Holy Cross (FCS): The search for the next athletic director is down to two candidates according to The Telegram. Central Connecticut State director of athletics Paul Schlickmann, and University of Maryland deputy athletic director Nathan Pine are the two finalists for the position. Back in July, current athletic director Dick Regan announced that he would be stepping down.

Maryland: Defensive line coach Greg Gattuso, who recently accepted the head coaching job at Albany, will remain with the team through the Military Bowl before heading to Albany full time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of former Arkansas State head coach Steve Roberts today. His father, Carl, has passed away. 

Texas: Fort Worth Star-Telegram reporter Stefan Stevenson reports tonight that "Source close to Texas executive council of regents says Nick Saban will be the next Longhorns coach." Simply fascinating to watch this unfold...

Alabama: Gil Brandt has reported that Nick Saban is in negotiations with the Crimson Tide for an extension in the $7 million range. Just a reminder that a deal isn't a deal until it is signed.  

Hawaii: Defensive coordinator Thom Kaumeyer and linebackers coach Tony Tuioti will not return to the staff according to Bruce Feldman. 

Wake Forest: Dave Clawson said at his press conference today he'd like to bring Bowling Green offensive coordinator Warren Ruggiero, defensive coordinator Mike Elko and special teams coordinator Adam Scheier with him to Wake Forest. Clawson mentioned that one of his coordinators was a candidate for the Bowling Green head job. Through a separate source we had heard that Scheier was a candidate for the job, but have not confirmed that. 

Allegheny (D-III - PA): The school is no longer accepting applicants for their assistant coaching job.

Boise State: Sources tell us Dirk Koetter is working out the details but we have not yet confirmed. Update >> Boise State's Rivals site (as well as numerous other outlets) is reporting that Bryan Harsin has reportedly withdrawn from the search process. Also, Jeff Tedford has interviewed for the job as well. 4pm ct Update> Sources tell us its down to Tedford and Koetter. We were told to expect resolution tonight. 

Ole Miss: Hugh Freeze has received a one-year contract extension, pushing his salary to $3 million. The Rebels' assistant salary pool will also increase by $400,000. 

Texas: Chip Brown of Orangebloods is reporting that Mack Brown will step down this week. Chip states that Mack will move into a special assistant to the President of UT role. Both the university and Mack have said the decision has not been finalized yet (but this is still happening folks). Here's what we have so far. More to come...

Eastern Michigan: Louisville running backs coach / special teams coordinator Kenny Carter has interviewed for the Eastern Michigan job. Eastern Illinois head coach Dino Babers has also interviewed and is considered by some we speak with to be the favorite for the job. Expect a decision this week. 

Fordham: Joe Moorhead has signed an extension through the 2021 season. Nice. 

Texas A&M: The Texas A&M Board of Regents will approve Kevin Sumlin's contract extension Thursday according to Kate Hairopoulos of the Dallas Morning News. 

Iowa State: Sources tell us that the most likely situation at Iowa State is that offensive line coach Chris Klenakis or receivers coach Todd Sturdy get promoted to offensive coordinator. New hires will then fill in the appropriate positions based on best fit within the staff. 

North Carolina Central (FCS): Winston-Salem State head coach Connell Maynor was on campus yesterday interviewing for the head coaching vacancy, according to Journal Now.

Gardner-Webb (FCS - NC): Gardner-Webb University has two openings on their 2014 schedule. The open dates are September 13, October 11, or October 25. They are interested in a home and home series with a FCS opponent or a home game with a NCAA D-II or NAIA program. Southern Utah (FCS): Head coach Ed Lamb has received a contract extension taking him through the 2020 season. Lamb led the program to the FCS playoffs this season and an 8-5 record (tied for most in school history).

Stephen F. Austin: Sources tell us TCU receivers coach Curtis Luper is interviewing this week for the head job at Stephen F. Austin. Luper is an SFA alum. 

USC: Sources tell us that Baltimore Ravens assistant offensive line coach Todd Washington is a strong candidate to join Sark's staff as offensive line coach.  

Mercer: Head coach Bobby Lamb has agreed to an extension through the 2019 season. Lamb led the Bears to 10 wins in their first season.  

Bowling Green: The program has announced that special teams coordinator / tight ends coach Adam Scheier will serve as the interim head coach.

North Dakota: Just a reminder, today is the last day to apply for the head coaching job. We'll provide an update on this one later.

Valpo (FCS): Sources tell us that Lehigh offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Dave Cecchini will be the new head coach at Valpo.

Albany (FCS): Greg Gattuso has signed a five year deal worth $230,000 annually, according to the Times Union.
