Clemson: Dabo Swinney has been named head coach at Clemson.

New Mexico: We hear that Oklahoma assistant Joe DeForest is not a finalist.  Sources tell us that New York Jets assistant Noel Mazzone has expressed interest.  New Mexico has spoken with Oklahoma State assistant Curtis Looper.

Saint Paul's College (VA): Defensive line assistant Bernard Griffin is no longer with the staff.

Toledo: We hear that the job is down to Dan McCarney and one more candidate that isn't getting a lot of press.  McCarney is currently the defensive line coach at Florida.   He previously served as the head coach at Iowa State.  Our sources tell us that Arizona assistant Mark Stoops is not going to get the job.

Alcorn State: FootballScoop has just learned that changes have been made at Alcorn State.  More to come on the Alcorn State situation later.

Missouri: Gary Pinkel is looking for an offensive line coach to replace Dave Christensen.  We hear Pinkel is interested in University of Memphis offensive line coach Rick Mallory.

Tennessee: South Carolina assistant David Reaves has officially joined the Tennessee staff.

Virginia Union University:  Defensive coordinator Craig Cox will not return for the 2009 season.


Curry College (MA): D3, located 7 miles from Boston, MA is seeking a football intern, starting in January, 2009 to May 30, 2009, then again from August 1, 2009 to May 30, 2010. Present intern is going back to grad school. Position is for the offensive side of the ball and working directly with the head coach developing game plans, practice plans. Other duties include recruiting and various tasks as assigned. This is an intern position with the responsibility of coaching an offensive position on your own, it is much more than just an intern. Position pays a stipend of $900 + a month, no lodging, meals are included in this plan. Ellsworth College (IA): in Iowa Falls, Iowa is looking for one and or possibly two coaches.  Applicants with O Line, D Line experience along with strength and conditioning will be highly considered.  All positions are encouraged to apply we are looking for the best fit.  Expectations will be full time responsibility in recruiting, year round player monitoring and developing with part time pay.  We are looking to build on our

East Central University (OK): Sources tell FootballScoop that Brad Calip is a candidate.  Calip is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame and former All-American at East Central.  He has coaches most recently on the college level at Tulsa in 2006.

Iowa State:  Shawn Raney (secondary) and Tony Petersen (quarterbacks) will not return.  Wayne Bolt has been demoted from DC to linebackers.  Robert McFarland has been demoted from OC to OL.  Iowa State is looking to fill both coordinator positions. 

Marshall: Mark Snyder will return as head football for the 2009 season.

Akron: We hear the staff at Arkron is safe.

South Carolina: FootballScoop has learned that assistant coach John Hunt will not return.  Hunt recently finished his 4th season coaching the offensive line at South Carolina.  We hear Spurrier will contact Vanderbilt offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell.

Wyoming: Missouri offensive coordinator Dave Christensen will be named head football coach.

Bowling Green: Bowling Green has an interest in Purdue assistant Brock Spack.

Eastern Michigan: Sources tell FootballScoop that Eastern Michigan will interview Scott Loeffler (Detroit Lions - QB's), Erik Campbell (Iowa - WR/TE's), and Corwin Brown (Notre Dame - DC).  We hear that Michigan State assistant Don Treadwell has already interviewed. 

Miami (OH): We hear that Mitch Browning is interested in the job.  Browning was a long time assistant at Minnesota before joining Greg Robinson's staff at Syracuse.

North Carolina A&T: Sources tell FootballScoop that North Carolina A&T is very interested in hiring Southern Miss assistant Frank Wilson as the new head football coach.

Syracuse: Illinois assistant Mike Locksely has moved to the top of the Syracuse list.

Tennessee: ESPN is reporting that Monte Kiffin will join his son at Tennessee.

UNLV: It appears Mike Sanford will return as head coach in 2009.
