Minnesota Gophers: "He's our football coach, and I expect him to be our football coach," athletic director Paul Maturi said. "There's always issues there. You know me -- I don't like to be dishonest. And I don't want to be [Alabama coach] Nick Saban and say 'yes,' and then two weeks later say 'no.' But I expect [Brewster] to be our football coach.

everything. If they want to pull that trick, we'll just shake the dirt off our feet and go to Europe or go on a long cruise or something. They'll have to fire him for him not to go another year ... If they've got guts enough to do it, let them do it."

Of course, Beamer is the son of VA Tech head coach Frank Beamer, who once roamed the sidelines at Murray State. Also, don't be surprised if Murray State makes a run at one of Houston Nutt's top assistants, Chris Vaughn. Vaughn serves as the cornerbacks coach / recruiting coordinator at Ole Miss. He is a former Murray State player and 1 of 26 college assistants to participate in the NCAA Coaches Academy last May to help prepare for head coaching responsibilities. Nutt is a former successful head coach at Murray State.
