Texas A&M:  Assistant head coach and defensive coordinator Joe Kines is retiring.  In making the announcement head coach Mike Sherman added, "I have no doubt we will attract quality candidates for the defensive coordinator position."

Kansas:  We hear that Richmond defensive coordinator Vic Shealy has spoken with Turner Gill about the defensive backs job.

Illinois State: FootballScoop has learned that quarterbacks coach Luke Huard has been promoted to offensive coordinator.
High School Scoop

FIU: We hear former Kansas defensive coordinator Clint Bowen may interview for the DC position.  Former assistant Greg Laffere is back as the tight ends coach.

Marshall: FootballScoop has learned that Chattanooga defensive line coach Fred Tate has accepted a position on the defensive side at Marshall.

Montana: We hear Utah OC Dave Schramm interviewed for the head coaching job.

Utah State: We hear tight ends coach T.J. Woods will add the title of recruiting coordinator.

Texas Tech: Mike Leach has just been dismissed as head coach.  It will be interesting to see if Texas Tech goes after Tommy Tuberville, Art Briles, or Sonny Dykes (Arizona offensive coordinator).

San Jose State: We hear head coach Mike MacIntyre is interested in Bryant Young as defensive line coach.

Central Michigan: We hear CMU may have interviewed Elon head coach Pete Lembo.

Utah State: We are hearing that Dave Baldwin will likely move over to quarterbacks and offensive GA, Jovon Bouknight (former Pontiac Game Changing Performer), will likely be promoted to wide receivers.

UNLV: Our sources tell us Montana defensive coordinator Kraig Paulson is going to UNLV as the co-defensive coordinator.

Cincinnati: Rivals' Tom Dienhart is reporting J.D. Brookhart has interviewed for a position at Cincinnati.

Arizona State: We wonder if Dennis Erickson is waiting on Idaho to finish their season, in order to name an Idaho assistant as his next OC.  Idaho plays today against Bowling Green.  We hear Steve Axman did interview.

Malone University: Greenville College (IL) head coach Eric Hehman has accepted the head coaching job at Malone University.

Marshall: Our sources tell us The Citadel defensive line coach Sean Cronin has accepted the defensive line job at Marshall University. Cronin previously served as a GA at Florida, working with Doc Holliday.

Utah State: Head coach Gary Anderson has stated that he will consider promoting a grad assistant to quarterbacksc coach.  The position opened up with Kevin McGiven accepted the quarterbacks / passing game coordinator position at Memphis.

Colorado State: FootballScoop has learned that Colorado State has hired Wyoming wide receivers / tight ends coach Dan Hammerschmidt as offensive coordinator. 

South Carolina: We hear App State assistant coach Shawn Elliott has interviewed for the offensive line job.

Illinois State: Our sources have just informed us that former Akron offensive line / run game coordinator Brian Callahan will interview at Illinois State for the offensive line job.
High School Scoop

Southern Miss: We hear Fedora will hire either a running backs or wide receivers coach.  Our source tells us Southern Miss offensive GA Cody Fredenburg has a chance to get the job.  Fedora has flexibility because he could move running backs coach Pat Washington to wide receivers.

Arizona State: FootballScoop has confirmed that Arizona State head coach Dennis Erickson has yet to hire the new OC.  Our source tells us the decision will come in the next two days.

Notre Dame: A report in Knoxville says offensive GA Mitch Browning will be going to Notre Dame as offensive line coach. Kiffin stated this morning that it wasn't a done deal as of this morning.

Colgate: Head coach Dick Biddle has agreed to a 3-year contract extension through 2013.

CAL: We are hearing that special teams coordinator / tight ends coach Pete Alamar will not return.

FIU: FootballScoop has learned that former Akron linebackers coach Vince Okruch will interview for the FIU defensive coordinator job.  We are tyring to confirm another coach as well.

Marshall: Tony Petersen will also carry the title of associate head coach / quarterbacks coach.

Southern University (LA): Baton Rouge Capitol HS head coach Chadwick Germany and Southern University offensive line coach Damon Nivens have interviewed.  Prairie View DC Heishma Northern, Tampa Bay's Doug Williams, Darrell Asberry, and Stump Mitchell have all interviewed.  We hear a decision could be reached by the end of the week.

Western Kentucky: Our sources tell us that Yale University tight ends / recruiting coordinator Mike Sanford has accepted the quarterbacks / passing game coordinator position on Willie Taggart's staff at WKU.  Sanford and Taggart worked together at Stanford.

New Mexico State: Mike Dunbar (former Minnesota OC & Cal assistant) has been hired as offensive coordinator.

FIU: We are hearing that tight ends coach Alex Mirabel will now coach the offensive line.

Lambuth University: We hear current assistants Tom Allen and Ron Dickerson are candidates to fill the head coaching position.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff: Our sources tell us that Central Arkansas wide receivers coach Jerry Mack talked with UAPB head coach Monte Coleman regarding the OC position. Coleman has interviewed 3 or 4 candidates and will make a decision soon.

Illinois State: Our sources tell us head coach Brock Spack will likely stay in-house for the OC position, vacated when Steve Farmer left for ULM.  We hear wide receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield could be the guy.

Duke: Defensive coordinator Marion Hobby has added the title of assistant head coach.  Linebackers coach Jim Collins has added the title of assistant defensive coordinator.  Jim Knowles will carry the title of defensive coordinator / safeties coach.

Texas Tech: Mike Leach has been suspended indefinitely as university officials investigate how Leach treated a player's injury.  Defensive coordinator Ruffin McNeal will serve as head coach during the Alamo Bowl.

Butler: Our sources tell us former Miami (OH) defensive backs coach ('08) and current Indiana defensive quality control, Tim Cooper, is a candidate to fill the DC position at Butler.

Marshall: FootballScoop has learned, contrary to earlier reports, that Doc Holliday is talking to 3 or 4 coaches about the DC position.  Our source tells us that Rick Minter has not been rehired as the defensive coordinator at this point, although it is a possibility.  Mike Cassity and Phil Ratliff are the only coaches that have been rehired to this point.

San Jose State: Our sources tell us Hugh Freeze (Lambuth HC) accepted the offensive coordinator job.

Western State: Our sources tell us Chadron State defensive backs / special teams coach Jas Bains has accepted the DC position at Western State.

Memphis: We hear Utah State assistant Kevin McGiven has been offered the quarterbacks / passing game coordinator position at Memphis.

Carolina Panthers: A report just released in Charlotte says that Panthers' organization has told John Fox that the head coach and his entire staff are welcome to return next season. Fox is not being offered a contract extension.  He would be in the last year of his contract next season.

Nicholls State: We hear Grambling OC James Spady interviewed for the head coaching job.

Florida: Tim Tebow just talked about when Urban Meyer announced to the team that Steve Addazio would serve as the interim head coach.  Tebow stated, "The team was so excited for Coach Addazio.  We  clapped and the ovation was one of the biggest ovations I have ever seen.  Our team must have clapped for 3 or 4 minutes.  Everyone is 100% behind Coach Addazio.  It was loud."

Memphis: New offensive coordinator Eric Price will coach the wide receivers.

Butler University: FootballScoop has learned that that Butler University defensive coordinator Neil Kazmierczak has resigned.

Washington State: We hear the offensive line job is open at Washington State.

Montana: Our sources tell us Montana is conducting a couple of phone interviews today.

Washington Redskins: Mort (ESPN) just stated, "Mike Shanahan is going to be the coach.  We know that."

Grand Valley State: We hear GVSU has setup in person interviews with a few coaches.

South Carolina: We hear coaches from all over were recommending candidates to Spurrier for the offensive line coach.  Our source tells us different coaches called to recommend Frank Verducci (former Notre Dame), Rick Mallory (former Memphis), Greg Adkins (Syracuse), and more than six or seven coaches from the NFL.  We hear over twenty coaches in the NFL applied for the job.  Of course, Spurrier's first year quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus coached with MTSU offensive line coach Jimmy Ray Stephens for several years.

Kentucky: Rich Brooks told his team that he probably will retire.  After the Music City Bowl, Brooks said, "I think it may be time for a change and time for Joker to take over.  Not totally sure.  I just felt like maybe it's time."

Memphis: We hear Eric Price has accepted the offensive coordinator position.  Price, most recently, coached the wide receivers for the Kansas City Chiefs for 4 seasons.

Louisville: We are hearing Charlie Strong is interested in hiring Syracuse running backs coach Stan Drayton. Strong and Drayton coached together at Florida.

Minnesota: AD Joel Maturi stated on the radio yesterday that he will offer Tim Brewster a contract extension.  "To dot the I's and cross the T's sometimes takes time," Maturi told the Pioneer Press. "We need stability in our program. Coach Brewster deserves the opportunity to coach the kids that he's brought in. We feel good about the recruiting class that we're going to bring in. Coach and I - when the season is done - we'll talk about an extension."

Notre Dame: Rivals' is reporting Jeff Genyk will serve as the OC / quarterbacks coach at Notre Dame.  Genyk is the former head coach at Eastern Michigan. The report says Charlie Molnar, Bob Diaco, Willian Inge, and Mike Elston will be joining Brian Kelly's staff.

Hiram College: has a position opening for an Assistant Football Coach. The coach will be responsible for the quarterbacks and coordinating the passing game.  The college is a member of the North Coast Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III.   The Assistant Football Coach position is a full-time, 10-month professional staff position which reports to the Director of Athletics.  The assistant coach will also assist the head coach with all aspects of the football program to include successfully; implementing a recruiting/retention plan, integrating the program into the campus community, organizing/administering practice, structuring game plans, and supporting student-athlete academic success. Additional duties will include an administrative responsibility and teaching in our Exercise/Sport Science program. A Master's Degree is preferred while a Bachelor's Degree is required. Memphis:  Our sources tell us that Larry Porter has offered the offensive coordinator position to Eric Price.

Georgia Southern: Former Memphis assistant Brent Pry is the new defensive coordinator at GSU.

Florida: Urban Meyer just said he expects to be back leading the Gators at the beginning of next season.  Said Meyer, "I do in my gut believe that will happen."   Steve Addazio will lead the team in the meantime.  Meyer will coach in the Sugar Bowl.

Montana: We hear DC Kraig Paulson did interview.

Southern University (LA): Tampa Bay Bucs director of pro personnel, Doug Williams, interviewed for the Southern University head coaching job.  Williams once served as the head coach at Grambling University.

Western State: We hear Western State has talked with several coaches for the DC position including CSU- Pueblo defensive backs coach Donnell Leomiti, former Adams State head coach Wayne McGinn, Chadron State defensive backs coach Jas Bains, and one of the coaches at Fort Lewis College.

Tennessee: We hear Lane Kiffin has offered the special teams coordinator / running backs position to Tampa Bay Bucs associate head coach / special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia.

Pitt State: Blue Valley HS coach Steve Rampy has been hired as offensive coordinator.

Georgia Southern: FootballScoop has learned that McKendree College defensive coordinator Trent Poelker has joined the staff at GSU.  We hear Poelker will be coaching the defensive backs.

Florida: ESPN's Chris Mortensen is now reporting that Urban Meyer may not resign.  Instead, Meyer is considering taking a leave of absence for the entire 2010 season while Steve Addazio takes over the team.

Marshall: Rivals' Tom Dienhart is reporting that it appears Doc Holliday will retain Rick Minter (DC) and Mike Cassity (defensive backs).

Texas Southern: We hear TSU has talked with former Alabama State DC Joe Nixon.  TSU has a couple of jobs to fill.

FIU: FootballScoop has just learned that the defensive coordinator job has opened up at FIU.  Head coach Mario Christobal is now looking to fill both the OC and DC positions.

New Mexico State: The last guy to interview for the New Mexico State offensive coordinator position was Russ Martin (Nebraska-Kearney OC).

Edmonton Eskimos: Former Washington State defensive line coach Mike Walker has accepted the defensive line coach with Edmonton.  Walker last coached in 2007 at Wazzu.

Marshall: As expected, South Dakota wide receivers coach Tony Petersen has officially joined the Marshall staff under Doc Holliday as the quarterbacks coach.  FIU offensive coordinator Bill Legg has joined the  staff as offensive coordinator / offensive line coach.

Georgia: The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports, "It was getting ready to happen," said Foster, who is in town with the Hokies to play Tennessee in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on New Year's Eve. "Mark and I talked on several occasions ... and then Tech stepped up to the plate. He [Richt] said he would be excited to have me as coordinator. It was going in that direction."

Florida: Urban Meyer is stepping down as head coach. There is no immediate health issue, but Meyer talked about the importance of health and family in his statement.  He says that he will remain in Gainesville.

Notre Dame:  There is a report that Grand Valley State head coach Chuck Martin will be joining the Irish as defensive backs coach.

Murray State:  We hear former Georgia Southern offensive line coach Shawn Bostick and former defensive backs coach Keith Hatcher will be joining the Murray State staff.

Kansas: Former Buffalo linebackers coach Robert Wimberly will join Turner Gill's staff at Kansas.

Rutgers: We heard that Schiano talked with UCF wide receivers coach David Kelly in St. Petersburg. Another source tells us that Rutgers may have already talked with Ohio wide receivers coach Dwayne Dixon as well. Rutgers has yet to fill the wide receivers position vacated with Brian Jenkins accepted the head coaching job at Bethune-Cookman.

Tabor College: Our sources tell us former Tabor College head coach Mike Gottsch is the new head coach at Sapulpa HS in Oklahoma.

Otterbein College (OH): Westerville, OH - Has a full-time defensive secondary position opening with a possible coordinating role. Duties will include: Assist with day to day operations of the football program, position group responsibility (defensive secondary), scouting, recruiting area, strength & conditioning, game day duties, administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.
