Princeton: Temple linebackers coach Jared Backus is going to Princeton as the defensive coordinator. Former defensive coordinator Steve Verbit will be retained, but will now serve as defensive line coach / associate head coach.

Kentucky: We hear Joker Phillips has indeed hired Arkansas offensive line coach Mike Summers.

Cornell: Our sources tell us that Terry Shea is definitely in the mix for the head coaching job.

Georgia: The Tuscaloosa News is reporting Kirby Smart has formally been offered the Georgia defensive coordinator position.  We hear if Smart accepts the job, Nick Saban will almost certainly talk with Tony Grantham (Dallas Cowboy defensive line) regarding the defensive coordinator job. 

South Florida: We hear the South Florida AD is certainly interested in Skip Holtz, Tommy Bowden, and Dan McCarney.  We were told Jim McElwain is interested in the job.

Texas Tech: Our sources tell us that Tubs wants Don Dunn (former Auburn DL) to join his staff.  We hear Tubs will keep the wide open offense that is the staple of Texas Tech football.  Our source tells us he has talked with Steve Ensminger.  According to our source, Eddie Gran will most likely stay at Florida State.  We were told to expect Tubs to keep a couple of current assistants.  We heard Lincoln Riley has done a great job recruiting the South Florida area, which Tubs will want to recruit.  We also heard that Tubs will likely have great interest in keeping Matt Moore (OL) and Ruffin McNeal.  Our source tells us it's unlikely that former Auburn offensive line Hugh Nall will want to go.

San Jose State: We hear Terry Malley (quarterbacks) and Ken Margerum (wide receivers) are in limbo.  Our source tell us both coaches are still with San Jose State at this point. 

Washington Redskins: We hear Shanahan wants Jedd Fisch (Minnesota Gophers OC) to join his staff. 

South Florida: USF hired Chuck Neinas to help with their coaching search. 

Memphis: We just heard Memphis has only filled on defense the DC (Hopson) and DL positions (Dubose).

Marshall: We hear Doc Holliday has invited all the grad assistants to return.

Kentucky: Our sources tell us Joker Phillips is interested in Arkansas offensive line coach Mike Summers.

Texas Tech: We hear Tubs wants James Willis (Alabama linebackers / associate head coach) and Eddie Gran ( Florida State running backs / special teams coordinator) as his coordinators. 

Nicholls State: Our sources tell us interim head coach Kent Keith will not be a part of Charlie Stubbs' new coaching staff.

Central Michigan: We hear Loeffler and Lobotzke withdrew their names, which likely means CMU has their guy. Our source tells us Dan Enos definitely has a shot to get the job.

Texas Tech: Tommy Tuberville has accepted the Texas Tech head coaching position.

Dean College: We hear Matt Chapman has accepted the OC / offensive line position.  Chapman served on the staff at UMASS last season.

Chicago Bears:  We hear Tennessee OC Jim Chaney will interview for the OC job with the Bears.

Washington State: We are hearing former San Jose State offensive coordinator / offensive line coach Steve Morton will be joining the Wazzu staff as offensive line coach.

Seattle Seahawks: LA Times is reporting Seattle is set to offer 5-years and $35 million to Pete Carroll, who would serve as head coach and team president. 

Arkansas: Wide receivers coach Kris Cinkovich will earn $185,000 per year and defensive ends coach Steve Caldwell will make $210,000 per year as part of 29-month contracts set to expire June 30, 2012.

FIU: We hear Mario Christobal may setup interviews with Ed Zaunbrecher (Rice offensive coordinator) and Scott Satterfield (Toledo quarterbacks) for the offensive coordinator position.

Montana: Former North Dakota State defensive coordinator Mike Breske is the new defensive coordinator.  Former Oregon defensive line coach (2008) Michael Gary will serve as defensive line coach. Mick Delany will coach the running backs. Former Montana wide receiver Shalon Baker will coach the wide receivers. Former Houston Texans scout (2007) Bob Beers Sr. will coach the offensive line. Silverton HS (Oregon) head coach Scott Greg will coach the tight ends.  Mike Hudson will remain on staff and coach the linebackers.

Colorado State: We are hearing Pat Meyer has been promoted to offensive coordinator.  Meyer served this past season as offensive line coach / run game coordinator.

Florida: George Edwards' title will be defensive coordinator / assistant head coach.  Chuck Heater's title will be co-defensive coordinator / safeties.

San Francisco 49ers: Larry Mac Duff has interviewed for the special teams position. Al Everest is not returning as special teams coordinator.

Detroit Lions: Stan Kwan will not return as special teams coordinator.

Nevada: Former UNLV assistant Mike Bradeson has accepted the secondary position with Nevada.

Akron: Mitch Browning has accepted the offensive line position.

Pace University: Chris Dapolito has been hired as head coach.  Dapolito served this past season as the offensive coordinator at Pace.

Buffalo: Former Cincinnati quarterbacks coach Greg Forest has accepted the offensive coordinator / quarterbacks position at Buffalo. Marty Spieler's title will be tight ends / special teams coordinator.  Juan Taylor will coach the wide receivers / passing game coordinator.  Mike Daniels will coach the running backs. Ernest Jones will serve as secondary coach / associate head coach.  Bill Inge will serve as defensive coordinator / linebackers coach. Adam Shorter is the new offensive line coach.

Arkansas-Monticello: We are hearing quarterbacks / running backs coach Troy Stubbs has resigned.  Stubbs is expected to join the staff at Nicholls State, where his father just accepted the head coaching job.

Grambling: Bob Leahy has accepted the wide receivers job. 

Seattle Seahawks: Mort says, "I would be totally surprised if it's not Pete Carroll.  Multiple sources have told me Pete Carroll is their guy."

USC: ESPN's Bruce Feldman just reported that a couple of USC power brokers have reached out to Oregon State head coach Mike Riley to gauge his interest if Carroll leaves for Seattle.

Adrian College: Football seeks candidates for three entry-level full-time intern positions for the sport of football.  Positions available include: Defensive Backs or Linebackers and Wide Receivers or Running Backs Qualifications:  Bachelor's Degree required; video editing experience strongly preferred.  Appointment Date: ASAP. Delaware State: Our sources tell us Nick Calcutta has accepted the offensive line job at Delaware State. Calcutta previously served as the offensive line and tight ends coach at Howard University.

LSU: Spokesman Herb Vincent said new LSU running backs coach/recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson will be paid $325,000 per year and receivers coach/passing game coordinator Billy Gonzales will be paid $285,000.

Texas Tech: Ruffin McNeal interviewed for a 2nd time.

Seattle Seahawks: ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting the there is mutual interest between Pete Carroll and the Seahawks.  Mort reports Carroll would like to bring USC quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates. Mort sent a text to Carroll.  Carroll's response: "You know I haven't responded to an NFL question in 2 years."

Muskingum University: is no longer accepting resumes for the grad assistant position.

Seattle Seahawks: Jim Mora has been just been dismissed as head coach.

South Florida: Carl Franks has been named interim head coach.

FIU: FootballScoop has just confirmed that UCF linebackers coach / recruiting coordinator Geoff Collins has accepted the defensive coordinator job at FIU.

Buffalo: FootballScoop has confirmed that Jappy Oliver has accepted the defensive line job at Buffalo.

Georgia Tech: FootballScoop has just confirmed that defensive coordinator Dave Wommack will not be back as defensive coordinator. Our sources tell us Paul Johnson considered keeping Wommack as a position coach, but that is not going to happen.  There is a report that Al Groh will likely end up as the new DC, but we have not heard anything on the replacement.

Wayne State College: (NCAA Division II Northern Sun Conference) located in Wayne, Nebraska has an immediate opening for an Offensive Graduate Assistant coach. The Graduate Assistant will be primarily responsible for the Running Back - H Back Position. The position requires a highly motivated person to assist with the implementation of practices, evaluation of prospective student athletes, off and on campus recruiting, scouting opponents, and other duties as assigned by the head coach. Graduate Assistantships are granted based on acceptance into Graduate School at Wayne State College. South Florida: We have been told by that Lawrence Dawsey (Florida State wide receivers) and Jeff Jagodzinski are going after the job. Another source tells us Michigan OC Calvin Magee See our earlier post as well...

Montana: We hear former North Dakota State defensive coordinator Mike Breske has interviewed for the DC position at Montana.  Jonathan Smith has indeed accepted the offensive coordinator position.

Memphis: Columbia DFO Jeff Kupper has joined the Memphis staff in the same capacity.

South Florida: Jim Leavitt has just been dismissed as head coach. Our sources tell us a USF asssistant believes USF will likely talk with Dan McCarney (Florida defensive line), Skip Holtz (East Carolina head coach), and Tommy Bowden (former Clemson head coach). We hear Tuberville is very interested in the job and you can bet agent Jimmy Sexton has been working on it.

Florida: ESPN is reporting that Urban Meyer's leave of absence has not yet started.  Meyer is involved in Florida recruiting and staff hires.

Jacksonville Jaguars: There is a report that head coach Jack Del Rio will meet with team owner Wayne Weaver next week to discuss his Del Rio's job.

Texas Tech: Asked if he is going to interview Kirby Smart, AD Gerald Myers said last night, "That's something that I'm not aware of.  I know he's a good young coach and a good young prospective coach, but at this point we haven't made any plans to contact him.''

Virginia: We are hearing former Cavalier's quarterback Shawn Moore will be joining the staff, possibly as wide receivers coach.  Also, Jim Reid will carry the title of associate head coach in addition to serving as defensive coordinator.

FIU: Our source tells us former Western Kentucky head coach David Elson and Tuskegee defensive coordinator Reginald Ruffin both talked to Mario Christobal about the defensive coordinator position. Our source tells us Christobal is very interested in Geoff Collins.

Kentucky: WKYT in Kentucky is reporting offensive line coach Jimmy Heggins and defensive line coach Rick Petri will not remain with the Wildcats.

Montana: We hear Idaho quarterbacks coach Jonathan Smith has interviewed with Montana head coach Robin Pflugrad for the offensive coordinator position.

Lambuth University: Ron Dickerson has accepted the head coaching position. Dickerson coached the defensive backs this past season at Lambuth.

Syracuse: We hear JD Brookhart talked to Doug Marrone.

Mississippi Valley State: We hear L.C. Cole is under consideration for the head coaching position.

Florida: We hear it's a done deal.  Our source tells us Edwards will coordinate the defense.

Florida: FootballScoop has learned that Florida has interviewed Miami Dolphins linebackers coach George Edwards. Our source tells us Edwards will definitely not be with the Dolphins next season. We hear Edwards is close to a deal that could include the title of "co-defensive coordinator" with the Gators.

Virginia: We hear Carolina Panthers quarterbacks coach Rip Scherer interviewed today for the OC position.

Fort Lewis: We hear defensive coordinator Cesar Rivas will likely be promoted to head coach.

New Mexico Highlands: We hear former Fort Lewis head coach Ed Rifilato will be the defensive coordinator.

Cincinnati: We are hearing that Phil Zacharias was on campus today at Cincinnati and will be joining the staff.  Our source tells us Stripling, Banks, Elder, Mahoney, Bajakian, and Jancek were all on campus today.

Akron: Former Syracuse defensive line coach Derrick Jackson has been hired in the same capacity at Akron.

Sam Houston State: Ben Beasley has been retained and will coach the safeties.  Former Central Missouri wide receivers coach Jeff Conway has been added to the staff.

Clark University (Atlanta, GA): We are hearing Saint Augustine's College running backs coach Daryl McNeill has accepted the head coaching job.

Texas Lutheran: We hear O'Connor HS head coach Danny Padron has accepted the head coaching position.

Cleveland Browns: ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting the entire Browns' coaching staff including head coach Eric Mangini will return.

Houston Cougars: ESPN is reporting that Kevin Sumlin offered the DC position to R.C. Slocum, but Slocum declined.

UAB: Our source tells us UAB will promote video GA Charles Marrow to defensive grad assistant.

Utah State: Jovan Bouknight has indeed been promoted to wide receivers coach.  Administrative offensive GA Ryan Zimmerman will now move into Bouknight's previous role as offensive grad assistant. Dave Baldwin is moving from wide receivers to quarterbacks.

Tennessee: Lane Kiffin has yet to hire a special teams coordinator / running back coach.  ESPN reported two weeks ago that Tampa Bay Bucs special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia would be joining the Tennessee staff.  We hear the delay could all have to do with Jon Gruden.  Our source tells us that if Gruden lands the Cleveland Browns' head coaching job, he really wants Bisaccia to join him on the staff.  It will be interesting to see what happens in the next several days.

Buffalo: We hear former Cincinnati staff associate Mike Daniels has accepted a position coaching job at Buffalo.

Bethel University (TN): We hear Willie Tillman will be the new defensive coordinator.

Princeton: Brown University quarterbacks coach James Perry has accepted the offensive coordinator position.

Fort Scott CC: We hear Fort Scott head coach Jeff Sims has talked with former UCF defensive volunteer Craig Johnson.

Central Michigan: We hear Florida quarterbacks coach Scott Loeffler did interview.

Syracuse: We hear Doug Marrone will talk with Walt Harris about a position on the offensive side. 

Texas Tech: We are hearing a really interesting name at Texas Tech.  We are trying to confirm right now.

Marshall: Doc Holliday says he won't make any decision on the defensive coordinator hire until sometime next week. The Herald-Dispatch in Huntington states that Florida assistant coach Chuck Heater is interested in a job at Michigan. Unless Rich Rod does some shuffling, only the linebackers job is open with the departure of Jay Hopson a few weeks ago.

Culver-Stockton (MO): We hear there is a full-time defensive position open.

Syracuse: We hear Doug Marrone is interested in Pitt running backs coach David Walker.

Texas Tech: A report in Lubbock says Art Briles is no longer a candidate and that former Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden is next in line to talk with Texas Tech officials.

Western Kentucky: We hear the staff is set.

Pacific University: Former Portland State assistant Jim Craft has been hired as offensive coordinator.

Florida: We hear Corwin Brown has talked with Addazio and Urban Meyer.

Kansas City Chiefs: Charlie Wies has just accepted the offensive coordinator position with the Chiefs.

Arkansas: As expected, Steve Caldwell has accepted the defensive ends position.  Also, former UNLV wide receivers coach Kris Cinkovich has accepted the wide receivers job.

Florida State: In addition to coaching the linebackers, Greg Hudson will have the title of "assistant head coach - defense."

Rutgers: Schiano once again goes with a coach with plenty of experience recruiting Dade and Broward Counties.  Rutgers has hired Cleveland Browns wide receivers coach George McDonald as wide receivers coach.

Southern Illinois: Minnesota-Duluth defensive coordinator John Stegar has officially accepted the inside linebackers / special teams coordinator position at Southern Illinois.

Notre Dame: FootballScoop has just learned that Charlie Molnar will serve as the offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach.

Buffalo Bills: Peter King just stated on PTI that "Brian Billick is definitely not a candidate at Buffalo." King suggested that Jets OC Brian Schottenheimer has a shot to get the job. Not kidding, King stated he thinks Bill Cowher will get $7 million per season for his next job. Yes...you just read "$7 million." King is probably right.

NY Giants: Defensive line coach Mike Waufle will not return. Perry Fewell will interview for the DC position.

Texas A&M: Despite a radio report and talk in College Station, FootballScoop has just confirmed that neither John Skladany or Jim Jeffcoat have accepted positions at A&M.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Offensive line coach Larry Zierlein will not return.

Furman: We hear head coach Bobby Lamb has interest in UT-Martin defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey.

Florida: We hear Ohio State corners coach Taver Johnson has spoken with Steve Addazio.

Bemidji State: Our sources tell us Wofford video coordinator Yon Boone wil be heading to Bemidji State as defensive grad assistant.

West Virginia: We hear former WVU player AJ Nastasi is interested in the WVU offensive GA position.

Georgia Southern: GA Tech offensive grad assistant Brett Gilliland is now working at Georgia Southern. He accepted the position a few weeks ago, as we reported.

Lambuth: We hear the new head coach will be a promotion from within the staff.  Our source tells us an announcement will come Friday. We hear it will be either defensive coordinator Tom Allen or defensive backs coach Ron Dickerson.Bowie State: We hear quarterbacks coach / recruiting coordinator Robert Johnson stepped down this morning.

Houston: FootballScoop has just learned that Houston defensive coordinator John Skladany will not return.

Texas Southern: Our sources tell us that Jo Nixon has joined the staff as linebackers coach and Manny Martinez has joined the staff on the offensive side of the ball.  The position that Martinez will coach is to be determined.  The offensive GA position is still open. Chicago Bears: ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting the Bears have already contacted USC quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates regarding the OC position.  Schefter reports that Bates and Minnesota Gophers offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch will be two targeted coaches. Charlie Weis has expressed interest in this position.

Texas Tech: The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal is reporting that AD Gerald Myers has requested permission to speak with Art Briles. The paper also mentions that Tommy Bowden is also a candidate.

FIU: We hear no decision has been made on the DC position as of this morning.

Kansas: Texas A&M defensive line coach Buddy Wyatt has accepted the defensive line job at Kansas.

Pitt: A report in The Statesman newspaper says that Pitt defensive coordinator Phil Bennett is not expected to return to Pitt.  Rivals' Tom Dienhart is reporting that he is hearing Bennett will likely land at Texas A&M. We heard Bennett was on the road recruiting yesterday for Pitt.  We should have more about this later on today.

Weber State: We hear quarterbacks coach Jason Beck is moving to wide receivers.  Our source tells us former Montana Western head coach Tommy Lee will be the new OC.  Our source tells us Cecil Thomas has accepted the offensive line position.  We hear the defensive line job is open.

Jackson State: We hear former New Mexico State running backs coach Ernest Wilson will be the new offensive coordinator.

Nevada: We hear defensive tackles coach Jim House will not return.

Florida: The Gators have hired Syracuse running backs coach Stan Drayton.  Drayton coached with the Gators a few years ago. DJ Durkin's title will be "Linebackers Coach."

Southern Miss: Larry Fedora has stated he will likely stay in house for the offensive coordinator position.  We hear if Fedora stays in house, quarterbacks coach Blake Anderson will be the guy. 

Mississippi State: Our sources tell us no interviews are expected to take place between now and the convention.  We hear Dan Mullen will likely get things wrapped up shortly after the convention, where he will talk with the next defensive coordinator.

Louisiana Tech: We hear head coach Derek Dooley is interested in Texas Tech defensive ends coach Charlie Sadler for the defensive line position.

Chattanooga: We hear assistant coach Tony Coode will be moving over to the defensive side of the ball.

Grand Valley State: We hear Matt Mitchell will likely promote defensive line coach Matt Yoches to defensive coordinator.

Cleveland Browns: Mike Holmgren will interview Eagles GM Tom Heckert for the same position with the Browns.

Washington Redskins: GM Bruce Allen is negotiating a contract with Mike Shanahan's agent.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Quarterbacks coach Ken Anderson has decided to retire.

Chicago Bears: Ron Turner (offensive coordinator), Pep Hamilton (quarterbacks), Rob Boras (tight ends), Harry Hiestand (line), Luke Butkus, and Charles London will not return to the staff.

Arkansas: FootballScoop has confirmed that neither Steve Caldwell or David Kelly have accepted positions at Arkansas, although both coaches could end up in Fayetteville.  Our sources tell us Caldwell will interview tomorrow. Kelly does have an offer and is considering the move, but we hear that another SEC school is in the picture.

Central Michigan: One of our sources tells us Curt Mallory (Illinois) is still in the mix for the head coaching job. 

Coastal Carolina: Our sources just told us that former Hofstra defensive line coach Kevin Mapp has accepted the defensive line job at Coastal Carolina.

Florida State: FootballScoop has learned that Rice defensive line coach / recruiting coordinator Darin Eliot will be joining the FSU staff. We had heard on December 15th that a Rice assistant would be going to Florida State.  At the time, we thought wide receivers coach Larry Edmondson might be the guy because he had coached with Jimbo Fisher at Auburn back in the day.  Our sources tell us that Eliot is the guy and he will be coaching the defensive ends at FSU.

Richmond: It appears Byron Thweatt (linebackers), Dave Legg (cornerbacks/special teams), Kevin Lewis (defensive tackles), Stacy Tutt (running backs) and Bill Polin (offensive line) will all be rehired and work on Latrell Scott's new coaching staff at Richmond.  Fork Union Military Academy assistant Tripp Billingsley will coach the wide receivers.  Devin Fitzsimmons (tight ends) and Chad Wilt (defensive line) will also join the staff.  Fitzsimmons served as a GA at Virginia last season.  Wilt coached the Virginia defensive line.

Central Michigan: Our sources are telling us that Michigan State running backs coach Dan Enos will interview for a third time with Central Michigan.  We hear Wake Forest offensive coordinator Steed Lobotzke is one of the three finalists along with Enos.  At this time, we haven't been able to find out the remaining candidate.

Texas Tech: Tommy Tuberville is interviewing.  We hear Texas Tech officials picked up Tubs at the airport today.

Southwest Minnesota State University: invites applications for a full-time athletic fixed-term Assistant Football Coach/Athletic Administration position to begin February 12, 2010 or a date to be negotiated.  SMSU is located in the town of Marshall (pop. 13,000) in southwest Minnesota.  The Assistant Football Coach will be the defensive coordinator and will be involved in all aspects of coaching responsibilities including recruiting, practice, organization, scheduling and trip organization. Nevada: Our sources tell us that Stanford co-defensive coordinator / linebackers coach Andy Buh will be going to Nevada as the defensive coordinator.

Michigan: Former Domino's Pizza CEO Dave Brandon has accepted the AD position at Michigan.

Western Kentucky: We hear Willie Taggart offered a position to Stanford defensive backs coach Clayton White.
