Sam Houston State: David Beaty (Kansas wide receivers), Darrell Dickey (New Mexico OC), Willie Fritz (Central Missouri head coach), Kim Helton (UAB OC), Mike MacIntyre (Duke DC), Wesley McGriff (Miami DB's), Guy Morris (Texas A&M-Commerce), Jason Phillips (Houston co-offensive coordinator), David Smith (Klein Oak HS), Ross Rogers (former HS head coach), Chris Thomsen (Abilene Christian HC ), and Scott Wachenheim (Washington Redskins TE's) are the 12 candidates. 4 candidates will be brought in for interviews.
Kansas: Twin City TV stations are reporting Minnesota head coach Tim Brewster has talked with Kansas.
Says Minnesota AD Joel Maturi: "I'm smart enough to know that (Brewster's) not going to tell me; nor is the athletic director (Lew Perkins) at Kansas going to tell me until it's a done deal," he added. "I chatted with (Brewster) about it very, very briefly. I told him I'm getting tired of all of these Kansas calls. That's kind of been my conversations with him. I know how the game is played. I know how it is. I'm respectful of that. I'm not going to believe the rumors until they're fact. I'm not going to knee-jerk react one way or the other because of it."
Georgia: Asked by reporter Doug Crise of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette if he had spoken to Bulldogs coach Mark Richt about the possibility of joining UGA's staff, Kirby Smart didn't say yes or no.
"I haven't really thought about it, to be honest," Smart said. "All I've done since the game against Florida is get ready and go recruit. I'm happy at Alabama and my wife's happy at Alabama. We're not looking to go anywhere."
Murray State: We hear Shane Beamer is not a candidate. A different source tells us Murray State was extremely high on Dan Werner (former Miami and Ole Miss OC). From what our sources tell us, Werner was the leading candidate, but pulled his named out yesterday due to family reasons. We hear former Georgia Southern head coach Chris Hatcher, Duke defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre, and East Carolina assistant Steve Shankweiler. According to our source, Murray State had a great talk with Hatcher. There is also a dark horse in this thing from what we hear.

Bradley University: Bradley has named Michael Cross as AD. Cross previously served as the Executive Associate AD at Princeton.
West Georgia: We hear the linebackers coach will not return and the defensive coordinator will likely be reassigned. Our sources tell us Georgia Southern DC Ashley Anders will be in the mix.
Florida State: FootballScoop has learned that Arizona defensive coordinator Mark Stoops interviewed yesterday with Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher.
Alabama: The university has canceled all classes from January 6-8 with the Tide playing in the BCS championship game. Gotta love that!
ULM: We hear ULM talked with Terry Bowden, but Bowden is no longer considered a candidate.
Marshall: Noleinsider is reporting FSU offensive line coach Rick Trickett will interview with Marshall this week.

Notre Dame: ESPN's Joe Schad is reporting a decision was made for no formal interview with Brian Kelly today. Kelly has already had direct communication with reps for Notre Dame.

Chattanooga: Head coach Russ Huesman has stated that he is not interested in the Richmond head coaching job. Huesman previously served as the defensive coordinator at Richmond.
Calgary Stampeders: Special teams coach Craig Dickenson will not return.

Florida State: According to TideSports, as of Monday night, Alabama linebackers coach Sal Sunseri has not talked with Jimbo Fisher. ESPN's Chris Low reported yesterday that Sunseri would talk this week with Fisher.
Youngstown State: The entire city of Youngstown is anxious to find out why Mark Stoops has yet to be named head coach at YSU. We wonder if a major BCS program is interested in Stoops as a DC. Jimbo? Some people believe if Arizona AD Jim Livengood in the next few days, Livengood would turn around and hire Stoops as the UNLV head coach.
Waldorf College: The position posted is a newly created position.
Stanford: Jim Harbaugh was asked by Michelle Tafoya last night in Green Bay, "Will you be back at Stanford next year?" Harbaugh's response: "I love Stanford and ah yea, God willing, I will be back at Stanford."

Akron: We hear Kansas OC Ed Warriner interviewed today.
Florida State: Chuck Amato, Jody Allen, Dexter Carter, and strength coach Todd Stroud will not be retained. Eddie Gran will also have the title of "associate head coach."
Virginia: London gets 5-year deal at 1.7 million per year. Assistant coaching salary pool is $2 million.

Southern University (LA): Offensive line coach Damon Nivens has been named interim head coach. We hear Southern University (LA) will almost certainly talk to Tuskegee head coach Willie Slater.
Stanford: Moments ago, Jim Harbaugh was interviewed live by Michelle Tafoya on the field in Green Bay. Harbaugh says there is no meeting planned with Notre Dame. The New York Times report is a rumor. The Stanford AD also says Harbaugh is not interviewing with Notre Dame.
USC: ESPN's Adam Shefter just reported that Jeremy Bates will be the top candidate to take over the Chicago Bears offense. Bates serves as the assistant head coach - offense / play caller at USC. Bates coached Cutler in Denver.
Idaho: Head coach Robb Akey is close to contract extension. Akey said this morning, "I'm hoping by next weekend that we'll have something hammered out."
Syracuse: We hear Doug Marrone has interest in New Orleans Saints quarterbacks coach Joe Lombardi. We wonder if former Syracuse / NFL wide receiver Rob Moore is interested in the wide receivers job.
Princeton: We hear Princeton is interested in Pete Lembo (Elon head coach), Mickey Fein (offensive coordinator at Lafayette), Joe Susan, Mike Bajakian, Bob Davie, and Stan Clayton (assistant coach - Lafayette). We have also heard that one of the assistant coaches at Akron is in the mix. Although we haven't confirmed that Akron assistant, defensive coordinator Jim Fleming has experienced great success as a head coach at Sacred Heart. Walt Harris has also experienced great moments as a head coach in his career.
Ole Miss: FootballScoop has learned that Houston Nutt has not talked with Kansas AD Lew Perkins. Ole Miss AD Pete Boone has stated that nobody from Kansas has asked permission to talk with Nutt and the entire thing is a rumor.

Tennessee: With Frank Wilson and Eddie Gran departing over the weekend, Lane Kiffin is in search of two assistant coaches. Kiffin talked over the weekend about taking his time and actually conducting real interviews with candidates. Kiffin last season raided other SEC coaching staffs to lure coaches. We hear some of the names already mentioned to Kiffin have been Jay Graham (South Carolina - running backs), Notre Dame wide receivers coach / recruiting coordinator Rob Ianello, and MTSU defensive coordinator Manny Diaz. Diaz once served as the special teams coordinator at NC State and has always done a terrific job recruiting the Miami / Fort Lauderdale area, which is the same area Eddie Gran recruited.

Louisville: AD Tom Jurich met with Charlie Strong for several hours in Gainesville this afternoon. One report mentions that Florida wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales would be Strong's choice for offensive coordinator if he got the job. Gonzales said tonight, "As far as I know, I'm not going anywhere."
LSU: NewOrleans.com is reporting, "Les Miles is speaking to former LSU assistant Tyke Tolbert about the vacancy. Tolbert is currently an assistant coach with the Buffalo Bills." As far as we know, there is no official opening at LSU as of tonight.
Virginia: FootballScoop has learned that Virignia has planned a news conference tomorrow at 1pm to announce Mike London as their new head coach.
Virginia: A Virginia newspaper is reporting that Mike London has a job offer from UVA.
Central Michigan: "I have not been contacted by anyone," AD Dave Heeke said. "Nobody has called me or contacted me or asked to talk to Butch."
Florida State: Our sources tell us Jimbo had talked with Gran about the "assistant head coach" title.
Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles are close to agreeing on a long-term contract extension with head coach Andy Reid.
Akron: Akron has asked permission to speak with Richmond head coach Mike London. Virginia has also asked permission to speak with London.
Florida State: FootballScoop has just learned moments ago that Tennessee special teams coordinator / running backs coach Eddie Gran has accepted a position on Jimbo Fisher's staff at Florida State.
Charlie Weis: "I'm going to coach in the NFL next year. I have no idea for who," Weis said, according to Rivals.com. All those stories that there have been 100 teams that have contacted me, that's a bunch of garbage. First of all, I wouldn't talk to anyone until after I was fired.
"I'll coach on Sundays next year," said Weis. "I don't know where. But the dust will settle, and in January, I'll probably end up taking a job."

Kansas: We are hearing that Kansas will interview Buffalo head coach Turner Gill.
Itawamba CC: Jeff Carter (offensive coordinator at Itawamba, William Jones (East MS CC defensive coordinator) and Bill Ashley (former Hinds CC assistant) have all interviewed.
East Central CC: We are hearing East Cental is down to three guys, Freeman Horton (AD and head football coach at Coahoma), Brad Peterson (head coach at Louisville high school) and Brian Anderson (the interim head coach).
Notre Dame: Brian Billick says he has not been contacted, but would be interested.
Arizona State: AD Lisa Love has agreed to a four-year contact extension.

Florida State: We hear Jimbo has interest in Kansas defensive coordinator Clint Bowen. We have not heard the specific position.
Georgia: Our sources tell us the 3 assistant coaches at UGA that will not return are not going to coach the Bulldogs as they begin bowl practice. Head coach Mark Richt had opened the opportunity for the three coach to remain on through the bowl game.

Tennessee: Our sources tell us will Frank Wilson's departure, Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin will likely have interest in Central Florida running backs coach David Kelly. Two Tennessee staff members including Lance Thompson have worked with Kelly at Central Florida. Kelly, a former wide receivers coach (LSU, Georgia Tech, Stanford) has many years of experience recruiting Louisiana, Georgia, and Florida.

Jacksonville State: Our sources tell us, despite a report in Alabama, head coach Jack Crowe has no intentions of retiring. We hear Crowe has a contract through 2011 and has intentions to coach another few years for certain.
Butler University: Head coach Jeff Voris has agreed to a contract extension through 2013-2014 school year.
Florida State: We are hearing that Kansas co-defensive coordinator Bill Miller has talked with Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher about the defensive coordinator job. Miller served as the secondary coach at Florida when the Gators held LSU's offense scoreless in 2003 (when LSU won the national championship). Jimbo served as the offensive coordinator at that time under head coach Nick Saban.

Youngstown State: FootballScoop has confirmed that Youngstown State has not made an offer as of early this morning to Arizona defensive coordinator Mark Stoops. Our sources do, however, tell us that YSU is interested in Stoops.
Western Illinois: Offensive coordinator Mark Hendrickson has accepted the head coaching job. Hendrickson has been serving as acting head coach since September.
Youngstown State: We are hearing Notre Dame special teams coordinator Brian Polian has interviewed for the head coaching job at Youngstown State. We were told that Georgia head coach Mark Richt is interested in talking to Polian.
A Youngstown area TV station is reporting, "The search for a new football coach at Youngstown State is apparently closer to being a done deal. A source close to the Penguins football program tell us tonight that Arizona defensive coordinator and Cardinal Mooney Grad Mark Stoops is the top choice for the job and that Stoops likewise is extremely interested in coming back home. Stoops has already said he won't talk about any position until the Wildcats finish the season. Arizona finishes the regular season Saturday against USC. He could meet with Youngstown State as early as Sunday. YSU Athletic Director Ron Strollo says the search is ongoing."
