We regret to report that Tim Marcum passed away yesterday. Marcum was the winningest coach in Arena Football League history and also coached at Ranger College (Texas), Rice and Florida. He was 69. Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.
Mississippi Valley State (FCS): Head coach Karl Morgan has been let go. Assistant head coach Terrence Graves has been asked to serve as interim head coach.
Auburn: Gus Malzahn has agreed to a new six year agreement paying $3.85 million next season, rising $250,000 per year thereafter. What a great career move Gus made for himself stepping away from Auburn to become head coach at Arkansas State almost two years ago today (at a salary of $850,000). Outstanding.
Washington: Boise State defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski will join Chris Petersen in a yet undefined role at UW according to local reporter Chris Fetters. Kwiatkowski coached the defensive line at Boise State for a number of years while Justin Wilcox was defensive coordinator and then ascended to DC when Wilcox left. No resolution that we are aware of yet for Wilcox.
USC: Sark has now officially announced the hiring of Peter Sirmon, Johnny Nansen and Keith Heyward from his staff at UW along with Tee Martin from the existing staff at USC.
Washington: Chris Petersen's five year agreement will pay approximately $3.6 million per year per a report from CBS.
Virginia Union (D-II): Sources tell us head football coach (and athletic director) Michael Bailey has been relieved of his responsibilities.
Briar Cliff (NAIA - IA): Briar Cliff is looking for one graduate assistant for the offensive side of the ball, preferably with Running Back experience. This position includes graduate school tuition, a monthly stipend (10 Month) and a small additional stipend to assist with meals. This position is contingent on being accepted into a graduate program at Briar Cliff. Start date is for second semester which begins classes on January 23, 2014. FAU: The names we keep hearing for the FAU head job are Eddie Gran, Everett Withers and current interim head coach Brian Wright. Gran finished up last night and Withers finishes tomorrow. Have to think FAU will have their guy in place by the middle of next week but... We'll keep you posted.
Boise State: Linebackers coach Bob Gregory will serve as interim head coach for Boise State's bowl game.
Houston: Co-offensive coordinator Travis Bush has been promoted to offensive coordinator by Tony Levine per the Houston Chronicle. Bush called the plays in 2012 as well.
Houston Texans: Reports out of Houston say that special teams coordinator Joe Marciano has also been let go. Assistant special teams coach Bob Ligashesky will fill his role for the remainder of the season according to John McClain.
Edward Waters College (NAIA - FL): Interim head coach / defensive coordinator (and former Bethune-Cookman head coach) Alvin Wyatt will be promoted to the head coaching post next week, the school has announced.
Old Dominion (FCS): Head coach Bobby Wilder has announced that Ulrick Edmonds will join the staff and coach the linebackers. Edmonds had previously served in various capacities at James Madision (including coaching the tight ends, and running backs, while also serving as recruiting coordinator) since 2004
Simon Fraser (D-II - Canada): The entire coaching staff other than offensive coordinator Nick Lucey has been released from their contracts.
Stephen F. Austin (FCS): Sources tell us that both UTEP defensive coordinator Scott Stoker and former West Texas A&M head coach Don Carthel are candidates for the head job at SFA.

Boise State: Chris Petersen will not coach the team in their bowl game.
Nichols College (D-III - MA): Sources tell us that Dale Olmsted has hired David Kaizer as his offensive coordinator / recruiting coordinator, and Mark Sullivan to serve as defensive coordinator. Kaizer previously served as the offensive coordinator at WPI and Sullivan comes from Worcester State where he was the defensive coordinator.
Houston Texans: Gary Kubiak has been let go as head coach of the Texans. Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips will be the interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Bob McNair says he will interview Wade for the permanent job at the appropriate time and also indicated that Lovie Smith would be considered.
CFL: Director of officiating Tim Higgins has left his post, effective immediately.

Northwestern State: Longtime Northwestern State head coach (and former Henderson State athletic director) Sam Goodwin has accepted the head coaching job at Alexandria Senior HS (LA). Goodwin spent 17 seasons at Northwestern State before leaving to become the athletic director at Henderson State in 2000.
Wake Forest: The names we hear most prominently on this one from coaches are Pete Lembo and Dave Clawson. Bowling Green plays tonight. Think Wake will have their new head coach before the weekend is over.
Boise State: Sources tell us that Arkansas State's Bryan Harsin will be among the first coaches that Boise State reaches out to. According to his contract, Harsin's buyout is $1.75 million if he were to leave before January 31, 2014.
Washington: Joe Schad is reporting that Chris Petersen is expected to be named head coach at Washington today. Update> We have now confirmed the same. Here's what you need to know. Petersen's contract will reportedly be for 5 years. Also, what does this mean for the Pac-12?
Washington: Huskies athletics director Scott Woodward met with Chris Petersen on Thursday night according to the Idaho Statesman, and Washington has offered to make him "one of the highest-paid coaches in the Pac-12", according to the Seattle Times.

Kentucky: We hear tight ends coach Vince Marrow has been promoted and will add the title of recruiting coordinator.
Texas: Texas president Bill Powers provided a statement to the Austin American-Statesman saying Mack Brown is still the Longhorns' head coach and that the school does not have an agreement in place with Nick Saban. Read more here.
McPherson College (NAIA - KS): Newly named head coach Steve Fox has promoted tight ends / running backs coach Justin Van Houten to offensive coordinator and named the following assistants; Adam Dutcher (offensive line / recruiting coordinator), Quadderrick Sanders (defensive line / special teams coordinator), EJ Peterson (co-defensive coordinator / linebackers coach / strength and conditioning coordinator). There are no staff openings at this time.
Ottawa Redblacks (Canada): Sources tell us that Mike Gibson (offensive coordinator) and Mark Nelson (defensive coordinator) are strong candidates to join the staff. Gibson spent ten seasons as the offensive line coach for the Calgary Stampeders, and Nelson previously served as the linebackers coach for the Montreal Alouettes.
Grambling: We understand that Broderick Fobbs will be hiring an entirely new staff.
Wake Forest: The Muncie Star Press is reporting that Wake Forest director of athletic Ron Wellman flew into Muncie earlier today to interview Ball State head coach Pete Lembo.
Central Washington: The head coaching search has been narrowed down to ten prospects. Athletic director Dennis Francois will conduct on campus interviews once the pool is narrowed down to three to five finalists.
Toronto Argonauts (Canada): Tim Burke has accepted the defensive coordinator job. Burke is the former head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Boise State: University President Bob Kustra has issued a statement, via the Idaho Statesman. “We are fully committed to Coach Petersen remaining at Boise State and, as always, intend to do everything in our power to support him as Boise State’s football coach.” We'll keep you updated.
UCLA: Closing the loop here, Kennedy Pola is officially the new running backs coach at UCLA.
Ottawa Redblacks (Canada): Sources tell us that Rick Campbell will be the first head coach for the expansion franchise.
USC: Washington linebackers coach Peter Sirmon will follow Sark to USC where he will coach the linebackers, according to Washington beat writer Adam Jude.
Sacramento State (FCS): Sources tell us defensive coordinator Anthony Parker and defensive backs coach Steve Roberson have been let go.
McPherson College (NAIA - KS): The school has announced that defensive coordinator Steve Fox has been promoted to head coach. Fox has spent the past two seasons running the defense.
Tennessee-Martin: The search for a new athletic director has been narrowed to four candidates; Robert C. Heller (Central Michigan associate AD), Richard R. Schoeberl (assistant AD at UT-Martin), Julio Freire (UNLV associate AD), and Tim M. Val Alstin (former Western Illinois AD). All candidates will interview by the 17th. Current athletic director Phil Dane is scheduled to retire December 31.
Missouri: On the Mike and Mike show this morning, Gary Pinkel announced that he will be staying at Missouri. "I'll be quite frank, I'm staying at the University of Missouri. I'm a Missouri Tiger."

USC: Wide receivers coach Tee Martin will remain on staff. Johnny Nansen and Keith Heyward from Sark's staff at Washington are both headed south as well according to Adam Jude of the Seattle Times.
Washington: Quarterbacks coach Marques Tuiasosopo will lead the Huskies in their bowl game according to Joe Schad.
John Gagliardi: The 63-year head coach at Carroll (Mont.) and St. John's (Minn.) will be honored with the Contributions to College Football Award by the National College Football Awards Association on December 12. Read more here.
Sul Ross: Sources tell us Tarleton State offensive coordinator Justin Carrigan is a candidate for the head job at Sul Ross.
North Dakota: We're now up to 41 guys that have formally applied for the head coaching position at UND.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers (CFL): Mike O'Shea has been named the Blue Bombers' new head coach. Additionally, Ted Goveia will join Danny McManus as assistant general manager.
UCLA: Jim Mora is in the process of bringing Kennedy Pola on staff. Its not official; but we hear its headed that way (expect resolution within 24 hours, likely sooner). Pola, the former USC assistant, has been serving as running backs coach at Loyola High with head coach Marvin Sanders.
Southeastern Oklahoma State (D-II): Sources tell us that Bo Atterberry will be the new head coach. Atterberry spent last season on staff as the defensive coordinator and is the former head coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Update> The University has now announced this.
Florida Atlantic: Cincinnati offensive coordinator Eddie Gran will interview for the FAU head coaching job on Wednesday of next week according to Dieter Kurtenbach of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Miami (Ohio): New head coach Chuck Martin will earn $450,000 per season, $50,000 more than predecessor Don Treadwell, according to USA Today's Steve Berkowitz. Martin's contract will last for five years, according to the AP.
Washington: Sources in the profession tell us Scott Woodward is interviewing Marques Tuiasosopo today for the job. We continue to hear that both Chris Petersen and Doug Nussmeier are interested and viable options as well. Will update as more becomes clear...
Lamar (FCS - TX): Head coach Ray Woodard will return next season, athletics director Jason Henderson has announced.
Miami (Ohio): We mentioned it yesterday; but just following up...Illinois State offensive coordinator George Barnett is joining Chuck Martin's staff. More to come... Will update.
FIU: Sources tell us linebackers coach (and former Yale head coach) Tom Williams will not return to the staff.
Grambling: As we told you last Wednesday, Grambling has now made it official. Broderick Fobbs is the new head coach. Fobbs played running back under legendary Grambling coach Eddie Robinson and most recently served as the tight ends coach at McNeese State.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Head coach Mike Tomlin has been fined $100,000 by the NFL for "interfering with a play in progress". Additionally, a "modification or forfeiture of a draft pick" will also be considered by the league.
Eastern Michigan: Colorado State-Pueblo head coach John Wristen will meet with Eastern Michigan officials in Ypsilanti on Thursday.
Westfield State (D-III - MA): Following the retirement of Steve Marino after 24 seasons with the program, defensive coordinator Pete Kowalski has been tabbed the interim head coach. Kowalski has spent the past 18 years as an assistant at Westfield State, and the past nine as the assistant head coach.
Tulane: Tulane athletics director Rick Dickson said he is working on a pay increase for head coach Curtis Johnson and his assistants following this year's 7-5 campaign.
Dickinson State (NAIA - ND): Pete Stanton, who has coached the linebackers for the past 14 seasons, has been named the program's new head coach. Stanton will take over for Hank Biesiot, who recently stepped down after 38 seasons at the helm.
Norfolk State (FCS): Offensive coordinator / receivers coach Howard Feggins will not return next season.

West Alabama (D-II): Michael McCarty (running backs / director of football operations) has been named interim head coach.
Northwest Mississippi CC: Sources tell us Troy University safeties coach Benjy Parker will join the staff at Northwest as defensive coordinator.
TCU: We have confirmed that Houston offensive coordinator Doug Meacham plans to join the staff at TCU.
UCLA: Jim Mora has chosen to remain at UCLA the school has announced. Mora, who was "in consideration" for the Washington job, has agreed to a new six year agreement (which the LA Times reports includes additional support for his staff). More to come...
Miami (OH): Sources tell us Chuck Martin is building his staff. Will update as decisions are made. We do expect at least one and possibly two grad assistants from Notre Dame to go with him. We hear Illinois State offensive coordinator / offensive line coach George Barnett is likely to join the staff but not confirmed at this time.
West Liberty (D-II - WV): Sources tell us that offensive coordinator Gary Krol is leaving to pursue other opportunities.
West Virginia: Oliver Luck has issued a statement on the WVU football program (saying same info that we told you Sunday). "I strongly believe in our coaching staff, including the work that our strength and conditioning staff is doing. In my opinion, continuity is the key ingredient that will bring our football program back to the high level that Mountaineer fans expect."
South Florida: Willie Taggart said today he doesn't anticipate any changes to his coaching staff.
Miami (Ohio): Notre Dame offensive coordinator Chuck Martin will be the new head coach at Miami Ohio. Here's what you need to know.
Central State (D-II - OH): With the departure of head coach EJ Junior, assistant head coach / defensive coordinator Darrell Suber has been named the interim head coach.
Langston (NAIA - OK): Langston University is looking for two graduate assistants, one on the offensive side of the ball with experience at the running back position and one on the defensive side of the ball working with linebackers. Included in the graduate assistant package are tuition costs, as well as room and board. Please have a copy of GRE test results, as well as official undergraduate transcripts ready to submit to Coach Sanders. If you have not taken the GRE it can be taken on campus at Langston. Iowa State: We hear Iowa State will be posting an opening for an "assistant for football recruiting". This will be an off the field position helping to run recruiting operations. Look for it to be posted today is what we're hearing.
St. Thomas (D-III - MN): The University of St. Thomas has an opening for an assistant coach/offensive coordinator. This is a full-time, 12 month position and UST is now accepting applications; required qualifications and more information is available at: https://jobs.stthomas.edu/postings/15280.
North Dakota (FCS): Here's an updated list of guys that have formally applied for the head coaching job at North Dakota. Just a reminder, December 10th is the last day to apply.
Villanova (FCS - PA): Villanova University is seeking applications for a video coordinator position. Duties include, but are not limited to capturing and editing film, filming practice, data input, creating highlight films, and any other duties assigned by the head coach. Previous football video experience with XOS encouraged. Bachelor’s degree is required. Compensation will be $10,000 stipend over 12 months with a meal plan included. Wyoming: Sources tell us Jeff Tedford is a top target for this opening. We'll keep you posted.
Auburn: No surprise here, but athletics director Jay Jacobs tells the Montgomery (Ala.) Advertiser he plans to renegotiate the contracts of head coach Gus Malzahn and his staff after the season is over.
Sul Ross State (D-III - TX): The school has announced that interim head coach / athletic director John Tyree "will no longer perform those duties". Head baseball coach Bobby Mesker will assume the interim athletic director role on an interim basis, and a national search has begun for the program's new head coach. As we told you back in November, the entire assistant coaching staff has been relieved of their coaching duties.
New Orleans VooDoo (Arena): BJ Cohen, a former VooDoo offensive and defensive lineman, has joined the staff and will coach the offensive and defensive lines.
Howard University: Head coach Gary Harrell has returned to Howard University from his voluntary leave of absence during the 2013 season.

Penn State: Sources tell us that Bill O'Brien has released quarterbacks coach Charlie Fisher and linebackers coach Ron Vanderlinden. In two seasons, Fisher guided Matt McGloin (now starting for the Raiders) and Christian Hackenburg (Big Ten Freshman of the Year).
Colgate: Head coach Dick Biddle has announced his retirement after 18 seasons. Associate head coach Dan Hunt will succeed Biddle as the program's new head coach. Biddle's duties will officially end at the end of the academic year but Hunt will take over the head coaching duties in the meantime.
VMI: Head coach Sparky Woods has been informed that he will return for the 2014 season. It will be his seventh season leading the program.
Florida Atlantic: Ed Orgeron has applied for the head coaching job, according to Scott Wolf of the LA Daily News. We have not confirmed.
Temple: Matt Rhule announced today defensive line coach Brandon Noble has resigned. (HT @Owls247)
USC: Ed Orgeron has resigned to pursue head coaching opportunities. Offensive coordinator Clay Helton is expected to coach the bowl game, according to Brett McMurphy.
Wake Forest: After 13 seasons, head coach Jim Grobe is resigning. Here's what you need to know.
Michigan: Brady Hoke has stated that he is planning to keep his entire staff intact.

Old Dominion: Linebackers coach Corey Hetherman will not return to the staff.
USC: Vanderbilt athletic director David Williams has stated that he has not been contacted by anyone from USC and has not had any conversations with James Franklin about the USC position, according to The Tennessean. “I have not been contacted by USC. James has not mentioned it. His agent, with whom I have a good relationship, has not mentioned it." Williams explained. "I would be very surprised if James has interviewed for that job – or any job for that matter.”
Illinois: Athletic director Mike Thomas tells local reporter Matt Wettersten that Tim Beckman will return. We hear some staff changes are likely. We'll keep you posted.
UCLA: Running backs coach Steve Broussard has been let go, according to UCLA's Scout.com page. We have confirmed.
Louisburg (CC - NC): Louisburg College, a small, private, Christian school located 30 min NE of Raleigh, NC has an opening for an assistant football coach/head strength coach. Position is to be determined. This opportunity is a 9-month contract beginning in August and offers a $10,000 stipend. This is a football-only position. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE. West Georgia (D-II): Sources tell us that West Alabama interim head coach Desmond Lindsay will join Will Hall's staff at West Georgia.
Westminster (D-III - PA): Sources tell us that former Arizona Cardinals linebackers coach (current linebackers coach at Duquesne) Matt Raich will be a resource for his alma mater with their search but that he is not a candidate for the position.
USC: Joe Schad is reporting that Chris Petersen has withdrawn his name from USC's search.
FootballScoop prediction: In two months nearly every coach in the country will have a profile on Athletic Connections.
Wyoming: As part of his separation, Dave Christensen will receive $190,000 per year for three years. We hear the assistants will remain on the payroll through the end of this month.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers (Canada): Danny McManus has been hired as an assistant general manager and director of U.S. Scouting. McManus spent 17 seasons in the CFL with various teams.
Florida Atlantic: Western Kentucky offensive coordinator Jeff Brohm will likely interview for the FAU head coaching position this week according to a report from Luke Stampini. As we said before, there is a ton of interest in this position. Interim head coach Brian Wright interviews this week as well.
USC: Steve Sarkisian interviewed for the job this past weekend, according to Brett McMurphy of ESPN.
Louisiana-Monroe: Defensive line coach Everett Todd will not return to Todd Berry's staff.
Robert Morris (FCS - PA): As previously announced back in January, head coach Joe Walton is retiring after 20 seasons as the program's head coach, and associate head coach / defensive line coach John Banaszak has taken over the head coaching duties. Walton also served as offensive coordinator, so that position is now open.
Kansas: Just to be clear, Charlie Weis is coming back. Athletic director Sheahon Zenger (who hired Charlie) voiced his support publicly multiple times over the weekend, stating that Weis will return, "I’ve been through rebuilding projects many times, and we’re going to stay the course." he said. "Wins and loses aren’t always indicative of the effort put in by this coaching staff and these players over the past couple of years."
