Arizona State: Dennis Erickson just announced that OC Rich Olson will not return.

"It really has nothing to do with what he (Olson) did or didn't do," Erickson said. "It's more about change and trying to get some new ideas. Rich Olson is a good coach, always has been and always will be. I needed to make a change. Our failings offensively had more to do with everybody involved, not just one person by any means."

"He's a good coach and has done a good job," Erickson said. "Our problems are not because of him, believe me. I want people to understand that."

UAB: We are hearing there will be no changes on the UAB staff.

Southern University (LA): Head coach Pete Richardson was given permission by AD Greg LaFleur to pursue other opportunities at the end of the season - if those opportunities arise.

UNLV: Assistant recruiting coordinator Jimmy Morimoto is organizing things.  Only the 2 GA's are still working.  A new coach will not be named until at least the middle of December after a new AD is appointed.

Western Michigan: FootballScoop has learned that defensive line coach Peter McCarty and safeties coach Rick Kravitz will not return.

Murray State: Our sources tell us former Florida State assistant Billy Sexton is in the mix.

Austin Peay: FootballScoop has learned there is no opening at Austin Peay.  The opening from what we understand is a formality.

Tulane: Head coach Bob Toledo will return.

North Texas: UNT has announced head coach Todd Dodge and entire coaching staff will return.

Georgia: In terms of the defensive coordinator position, our sources tell us head coach Mark Richt will almost certainly ask for permission to talk with Kansas State defensive coordinator Vic Koenning, Duke defensive coordinator Mike MacIntrye, and Georgia State defensive coordinator John Thompson.

Georgia: FootballScoop has confirmed 3 assistants on the defensive side are out.  Defensive ends coach Jon Fabris, defensive coordinator Willie Martinez, and linebackers coach Jon Jancek will not return.  Head coach Mark Richt would like for all 3 coaches to coach through the bowl game, but that has not been decided at this time from the coaches.

Akron: FootballScoop has confirmed there is no truth to the speculations that Wayne State head coach Paul Winters is resigning today to become the head coach at Akron.

TCU: We hear Patterson signed the extension today through 2016.  Patterson's contract is believed to reach over $2 million per season.  Big pay raises for the assistants as well.

Georgia: ESPN is reporting that DC Willie Martinez will not return.

Notre Dame: FootballScoop is hearing that an assistant coach in the SEC was asking coaches last night if they thought he should go with Tommy Tuberville to Notre Dame if Tubs got the head coaching job in South Bend.  This makes us wonder if Tuberville has his agent, Jimmy Sexton, in contact with Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick.  Our source tell us Tubs has several coaches already in mind for his next job, a plan that could very well include Texas running backs coach Major Applewhite as his offensive coordinator.  We hear Tuberville was very complimentary of Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson in a radio interview yesterday, and thought Notre Dame might be wise to go after Johnson.  You wouldn’t think the former Auburn head coach would make those comments if he was very interested in the Notre Dame job….or is Tubs playing the cards just right?

Pitt State: As we reported earlier, our sources are now telling us that head coach Chuck Broyles will be resigning early this afternoon.  We hear that offensive coordinator Tim Beck will be named the new head coach at some point.

Coastal Carolina: Sources tell FootballScoop that offensive line coach Jamie Snider, wide receivers coach Hunter Spivey, and defensive line coach Antoine Rivens will not return.

2009 Coaches of the Year powered by Muscle Milk:  Finalists for Quarterbacks Coach of the Year and Running Backs Coach of the Year have been released.

Youngstown State: Here is what we know.  One of our sources tell us that Youngstown had certainly not made a hire as of Monday morning.  There is some speculation that Arizona defensive coordinator Mark Stoops is the guy.  We have not confirmed this news.
Tuesday December 1, 2009

Florida State: It will be interesting to see if Jimbo Fisher targets Alabama linebackers coach Sal Sunseri for the defensive coordinator position at FSU.  Sunseri and Fisher worked together at LSU in the early days of the Nick Saban era in Baton Rouge.  West Virginia defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel could be the top target for the positon from what we hear.  Casteel and FSU offensive line coach Rick Trickett coached for together for years at West Virginia.

Northwestern Oklahoma State: Our sources tell us there is some friction between the AD and head coach Keith Barefield despite three winning seasons, 2 conference titles, and 2 playoff appearances.  Barefield is 24-9 in three seasons as the head coach.  Our source tells us to keep an eye on this situation throughout the week.

Memphis: We hear LSU defensive GA Raasaan Haralson could be on the way to Memphis.  Current Memphis assistant John Wozniak is a former LSU grad assistant (2005 & 2007) who joined the Memphis staff this past season.  Our sources tell us "Woz" and Larry Porter have a good relationship, so it will be interesting to see if Porter makes the decision to hire John.  Don't be surprised to see Porter hire his close friend, Rod Brown, who currently serves as the head coach at Ridgeway HS in Memphis.  Our sources tell us LSU offensive quality control Josh Eargle is likely to join the staff.  Eargle's wife grew up in Memphis and graduated from the University of Memphis.  Eargle coached the offensive line at Nicholls State before joining the LSU staff a few years back.

Syracuse: Our sources tell us a defensive position coach could be on the way out at Syracuse.

Marshall: FootballScoop has learned that Marshall head coach Mark Snyder has been dismissed just moments ago.  Our sources tell us that Marshall AD Mike Hamrick has interest in talking with Virginia Tech assistant Bud Foster and Oklahoma State co-offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer.  Brewer coached the Marshall wide receivers in the late 90's when Marshall went 50-4.  Foster is just a couple of hours away from Huntington, WV, serving as the defensive coordinator at Virginia Tech.  We have also heard Hamrick will likely talk with Richmond head coach Mike London.

Eastern Illinois: In very sad news, offensive line coach Jeff Hoover was killed in a car wreck yesterday after the EIU vs. Southern Illinois playoff game.  An Eastern Illinois spokesman said that Hoover apparently swerved off the road to avoid a deer.  Please keep Coach Hoover's family in your thoughts.

Itawamaba Community College: Our sources tell us ICC will talk with 2 candidates this week about the head coaching job.

LSU: Les Miles will now have to replace running backs coach Larry Porter, who has accepted the head coaching job at Memphis.  After the 33-30 OT win against Arkansas, Miles stated, "We've enjoyed him and will enjoy him for as long as he stays.  I remember this young coach when he interviewed for a job at Oklahoma State. I always interview four or five guys, and he was just a standout."  It will be interesting to see if Miles trys to lure Syracuse running backs coach Stan Drayton, Miami running backs coach Tommie Robinson, or Tennessee wide receivers coach Frank Wilson.  Drayton, Robinson, and Wilson are three of the most respected assistant coaches in the profession.  Robinson coached the running backs at Oklahoma State in 2001 when Miles' served as the head coach. Drayton joined the Syracuse staff this season before coaching the running backs at Tenneessee and Florida for the previous few years.  Wilson (a New Orleans native) has experienced more success recruiting Louisiana than any D1 assistant in recent years.  Before joining the Tennessee staff, Wilson coached the running backs at Ole Miss under Ed Orgeron.

Murray State: Our sources tell us that Murray State is certainly interested in Colorado offensive line coach Denver Johnson.
