Sunday November 28, 2009

The next three days could get quite interesting.  Let us know what you are hearing.  Send us an email or text message.  Since 1999, FootballScoop has served as the premier source for coaching job information.

Valpo: Head coach Stacy Adams has resigned.

Memphis: We hear Larry Porter has agreed to a 5-year contract worth $750,000 per year.

Virginia: We are hearing Virginia has hired Chuck Neinas to help with their coaching search.

Georgia Southern: FootballScoop has learned that Georgia Tech assistant Jeff Monken has accepted the head coaching job at Georgia Southern.

Notre Dame: Bob Stoops sent a text this morning to a reporter, "On the record, I am not (interviewing).  First I've heard of this (rumor)."

Hampton: We have heard there will be a change on the offensive side of the ball at Hampton.

UVA: Head coach Al Groh will not be retained.  AD Craig Littlepage made the announcement moments ago.  Richmond head coach Mike London is certainly in the mix for the Virginia head coaching job.

Syracuse: Our sources tell us a defensive position coach could be on the way out at Syracuse.

Marshall: FootballScoop has learned that Marshall head coach Mark Snyder has been dismissed just moments ago.  Our sources tell us that Marshall AD Mike Hamrick has interest in talking with Virginia Tech assistant Bud Foster and Oklahoma State co-offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer.  Brewer coached the Marshall wide receivers in the late 90's when Marshall went 50-4.  Foster is just a couple of hours away from Huntington, WV, serving as the defensive coordinator at Virginia Tech.  We have also heard Hamrick will likely talk with Richmond head coach Mike London.

Eastern Illinois: In very sad news, offensive line coach Jeff Hoover was killed in a car wreck yesterday after the EIU vs. Southern Illinois playoff game.  An Eastern Illinois spokesman said that Hoover apparently swerved off the road to avoid a deer.  Please keep Coach Hoover's family in your thoughts.

Notre Dame: AD Jack Swarbrick stated that he has not contacted any other coaches at this point.

The Coach Tracker: With The Coach Tracker database, your staff gains access to the cell number, email address, and all the important information you need on high school coaches and athletic directors.  Our database is updated daily.  Over 100 college coaching staffs have subscribed to The Coach Tracker database service.  This database is highly recommended to all staffs, especially to the new coaching staffs that will soon form around the country.  Call 225-445-8223 to subscribe or email This email address is being protected from spambots. Louisville: We have heard that Louisville AD Tom Jurich is very intrigued with Houston head coach Kevin Sumlin. We have also heard Mike Leach's name associated with the Louisville job.

Itawamaba Community College: Our sources tell us ICC will talk with 2 candidates this week about the head coaching job.

LSU: Les Miles will now have to replace running backs coach Larry Porter, who has accepted the head coaching job at Memphis.  After the 33-30 OT win against Arkansas, Miles stated, "We've enjoyed him and will enjoy him for as long as he stays.  I remember this young coach when he interviewed for a job at Oklahoma State. I always interview four or five guys, and he was just a standout."  It will be interesting to see if Miles trys to lure Syracuse running backs coach Stan Drayton, Miami running backs coach Tommie Robinson, or Tennessee wide receivers coach Frank Wilson.  Drayton, Robinson, and Wilson are three of the most respected assistant coaches in the profession.  Robinson coached the running backs at Oklahoma State in 2001 when Miles' served as the head coach. Drayton joined the Syracuse staff this season before coaching the running backs at Tenneessee and Florida for the previous few years.  Wilson (a New Orleans native) has experienced more success recruiting Louisiana than any D1 assistant in recent years.  Before joining the Tennessee staff, Wilson coached the running backs at Ole Miss under Ed Orgeron.

Murray State: Our sources tell us that Murray State is certainly interested in Colorado offensive line coach Denver Johnson.

FootballScoop is now on Facebook:  Join us on Facebook. This is a great way to keep up with FootballScoop and other coaches. Over 1,200 coaches are on our page, are you?  Search "FootballScoop" within Facebook or visit our page by clicking the link below:

Gavilan CC (CA): Gavilan has a defensive line job open.

Louisville: FootballScoop has learned just moments ago that Steve Kragthorpe has been dismissed. Our sources tell us that Phil Fulmer is certainly in the mix and will be considered strongly by AD Tom Jurich.

Jackson State: Offensive coordinator James Woody will not return. Offensive line coach Bruce Johnson will not return.
