Duke University: Tom Long hired as head video coordinator for football.  Long, a former video assistant with the Washington Redskins, joins the Blue Devil program after working for XOS Technologies, Inc., in the technical support field. He is a 2004 graduate of Maryland where he served as a video assistant for football.

Ohio University: Ohio University has signed head coach Frank Solich to a five-year contract extension through 2013.  The Bobcats finished 6-6 last season. Solich led the team to the GMAC Bowl the previous season.

The Citadel: Head coach Kevin Higgins has signed a five-year contract extension that will run through 2013.  Higgins led The Citadel to an impressive 7-4 overall record last season, going 4-3 in the Southern Conference.  In three seasons, Higgins is now 16-17 as the head football coach at The Citadel.

Portland State: Jesse Thompson has been hired to coach the running backs at Portland State.  Thompson spent last season as the running backs coach at Northern State University.

North Carolina: Former Mississippi State graduate assistant, Paul Gonnella, has been hired as the director of player personnel at UNC. 

North Carolina A&T: John McKenzie will be the offensive coordinator.  Tayrone Odums will assume the responsibility of defensive coordinator.  Myron Jackson named defensive line coach.  Chris Robinson named outside linebackers coach.

Samford University: Joe Sicolla hired as director of football operations.  Sicolla previously served as an assistant coach at Gulf Shores High School in Alabama.

UW-Stevens Point:  Mike Heffernan hired as offensive line coach / recruiting coordinator.  Heffernan coached the defensive line at Northern State in 2007.  Also, Casey Morgan and Nick Venden have been hired as graduate assistant coaches. 

Washington Redskins: Veteran coach Don Breaux is retiring after 27 years due to a heart condition. Breaux spent 17 years coaching in Washington.

JOB OPENINGS:

Aurora University: Matt Kalb has been named offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach.  Kalb previously held the same position at Loras College.  Brandon Sturman joins the staff as the linebackers coach after spending the past two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Valparaiso University.  Additionally, Luke Cutcomp has been promoted to defensive coordinator for the Spartans.

University of Houston: Wes Nurse hired as defensive quality control at Houston.  Nurse previously held the position of defensive restricted earnings coach at The Citadel.

Wagner College (NY): Ivery Gaskins hired as wide receivers graduate assistant at Wagner College.

The Citadel: Former Alabama defensive back, Gerald Dixon, has been hired as defensive quality control at The Citadel.  Dixon coached last season at Coral Park High School in Miami, FL.

Lane College: Head coach Dearrion Snead and assistant coach Leon Gray Jr. will not return to the staff.  The vice president of institutional advancement for Lane College claims the coaches will not return due to a "deliberate alteration" of a student transfer document.  The information was changed regarding whether a "prospective transfer student was under any type of disciplinary probation."  Trent Boykins has been promoted to head coach.

South Alabama: Head coach Joey Jones has hired former Southern Miss offensive line coach, Mitch Rodrigue.  Rodrique will continue to coach the offensive line at South Alabama.

Susquehanna: Nate Milne hired as offensive coordinator.  Milne was the offensive line coach at SUNY-Cortland.

West Virginia: George Shehl returns to his alma mater at West Virginia University as a defensive graduate assistant.  He previously served as a defensive graduate assistant at The Citadel.
