Tuesday September 30, 2008 Ole Miss (Special Teams Staff): Ole Miss special teams coordinator, James Shibest, had a little payback for Urban Meyer and the Gators. In the 2006 SEC Championship game, the Gators pulled an important fake punt vs. Akransas while Shibest served as the special teams coordinator. This week, the Rebels and Shibest handed the Gators a dose of their own medicine with a very similar fake punt conversion. Additionally, in the Rebels 31-30 win in The Swamp, the Ole Miss coverage units held in check Florida's dangerous return game throughout the game. But the biggest play in the game came when the Rebels blocked a Florida PAT late in the 4th quarter to leave the score 31-30 Rebels. Furthermore, the Rebels had an important 40 yards kickoff return and also pressured Florida into a crucial 11 yard shank punt. The Ole Miss special team units were certainly a difference in the 31-30 upset win in Gainesville.

Syracuse: If indeed the Syracuse job becomes available, FootballScoop has confirmed there is at least one very influential Syracuse person who will push for Doug Marrone as the next head coach. He has since coaches a places such as Georgia Tech, Georgia, Tennessee, New York Jets, and the New Orleans Saints.
