Tulane (Defensive Staff): A few weeks ago, FootballScoop highlighted Tulane defensive coordinator O'Neill Gilbert.  Read our recent write-up "Deserving Credit."  The coaching performance of the week certainly goes to Gilbert and the Tulane defensive staff.  A week after blasting Clemson's defense, Alabama couldn't muster much vs. a much well improved, better conditioned, and more physical Green Wave defense.  The Green Wave defensive unit held Alabama to 172 yards, 3/11 3rd down conversions, sacked the Crimson Tide 4 times, and allowed only 1 offensive touchdown in the 20-6 loss to the Tide.

O'Neill Gilbert (Defensive Coordinator / Linebackers)
      Jason Rollins (Defensive Backs)
      Grant Higgison (Defensive Line)
      Greg Jackson (Safeties)
      Duane Price (Defensive GA)
McNeese State (Offensive Staff): Let's give credit the McNeese State offensive staff.  Over the weekend, the Cowboys scored 52 points against a traditionally stout Delta State defense.  In the 52-27 win, the co-coordinators Tim Leger and Broderick Fobbs led the offense to 452 yards, 22 first downs, while converting 8/17 3rd down conversions against a Delta State defensive unit that finished #2 in the country in total defense just one season ago.  Sure, Delta State is a DII opponent while McNeese State is D-IAA.  But wait a minute, McNeese State racked up 22 first downs, 391 yards, and converting 9/19 3rd downs last week at North Carolina.  McNeese State fell to the Tar Heels 35-27, but showed impressively on offensive.  This week, Cal Poly visits Lake Charles, LA to play the Cowboys.  There could be 80 points scored in this one!

Tim Leger (Co-Offensive Coordinator / Quartberacks)
Broderick Fobbs (Co-Offensive Coordinator / Wide Receivers)
      Jeffrey Breaux  (Tight Ends)
      Carlos McGee  (Running Backs)
      Reggie Nelson  (Offensive Line)
Middle Tennessee State (Offensive Staff): MTSU offensive coordinator G.A. Mangus helped lead the Blue Raiders to the program's 1st landmark win in the Rick Stockstill era by upsetting Maryland 24-14.  Magnus' offense gained 402 yards while holding on to the football for nearly 40 minutes in the game.  The key was 8/20 3rd down conversions and only 1 turnover.

G.A. Mangus (Offensive Coordinator / Quarterbacks)
      Jimmy Ray Stephens (Offensive Line)
      Justin Watts (Wide Receivers)
      Brent Brock (Tight Ends)
      Willie Simmons (Running Backs)
      Zach Johnson (Offensive GA)
Oklahoma State (Offensive Staff): How in the world do you average 9.6 yards per play?  Wow!  New offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer had the Cowboy clicking this past Saturday in their 56-37 win over Houston.  In the game, Oklahoma State tallied 699 yards including 397 rushing.  Can you believe the Cowboys finished 10/13 on 3rd down conversions?  Furthermore, wide receiver Dez Bryant is the recipient of the Walter Camp Foundation National Player of the Week award (9 rec, 236 yards, 3 TD, and 71 yard punt return for TD).  The only downside to the Cowboy's performance was the 3 turnovers.  It appears Coach Gundy made a smart move in promoting Gunter Brewer to offensive coordinator.

Gunter Brewer (Co-Offensive Coordinator / Quarterbacks)
Trooper Taylor (Co-Offensive Coordinator / Wide Receivers)
      Doug Meacham (Tight Ends)
      Joe Wickline (Offensive Line)
Curtis Luper (Assistant Head Coach / Running Backs)
      Glen Elarbee (Offensive GA)

East Carolina (Defensive Staff): Although West Virginia doesn't appear as explosive this season, let's give credit to the East Carolina defensive staff.  In the 24-3 win over West Virginia, ECU held the Moutaineers' offense to only 12 first downs and 251 total yards.  The ECU defense forced 2 turnovers and held WVU to 3 of 12 on 3rd down conversions leading to Pat White's post game comment, "They beat us up."   The ECU defensive staff must be proud of their players including defensive back Van Eskeridge, who was named the CUSA Player of the Week.

      Greg Hudson (Defensive Coordinator)
Vernon Hargreaves (Defensive Ends / Special Teams Coordinator)
      Rock Roggeman (Defensive Tackles)
Rick Smith (Defensive Backs / Assistant Head Coach)
      Tim Carter (Defensive GA)
