South Dakota School of Mines (D-II): Former Central Washington (D-II) head coach Blaine Bennett is joining the staff as receivers coach / pass game coordinator.

Australian Future Stars Camp: Dan Hawkins (former Boise State and Colorado head coach), Cody Hawkins (Ohio State offensive grad assistant), and Joe Seumalo (Oregon State defensive line coach) have been chosen to participate in the 2014 Australian Future Stars Camp.

The College of New Jersey (D-III): Defensive backs coach Ted Florio has accepted the head coaching job at Kennedy Catholic HS (NY), per source.

Utah: Offensive coordinator Dave Christensen will earn an annual salary of $500,000, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.

Utah State: Portland State special teams coordinator/defensive tackles coach Ikaika Malloe has been named the defensive line coach at Utah State. 

San Francisco 49ers: Cornerbacks coach Ed Donatell has signed a two-year contract to remain with the club according to Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News. 

Tiffin (D-II - OH): Receivers coach Craig Yeast has accepted the head coaching job at Fremont Ross HS (OH).

Bemidji State (D-II - MN): Bemidji State has rounded out their coaching staff with two grad assistant hires. Barry Derickson will coach the running backs and Craig Bagnell will coach the receivers..

     Michigan State got the ultimate stamp of approval at the combine

UNC Pembroke (D-II): Sources tell us that Johnny Cox, who previously served as the receivers coach / recruiting coordinator at North Carolina A&T, has accepted the offensive coordinator / quarterbacks job. Also, we hear that defensive backs coach / recruiting coordinator O.C. Williams will be promoted to defensive coordinator.

Bluffton (D-III - OH): Associate head coach Lou Stokes has assumed the head coaching duties while a national search is conducted for a new head coach. Tyson Veidt left for a position on Toledo's staff (see last night).

St. Lawrence (D-III - NY): Per source, Bemi Otulaja has been hired to coach the running backs, and Scott Vallone has joined the staff and will coach the defensive line.

Missouri: Gary Pinkel and Mizzou are closing in on a contract extension that will increase his pay from $2.8 million to just north of $3 million according to Missouri's Rivals site. 

Toledo: Bluffton (D-III - OH) head coach Tyson Veidt has accepted the linebackers/recruiting coordinator job at Toledo. 

West Virginia: Tom Bradley will earn $600,000 in 2014 and $400,000 in 2015 with incentives according to Hoppy Kercheval of West Virginia Metronews. 

Southern Illinois (FCS): Ashton Aikens is the new wide receivers coach at Southern Illinois. He worked previously as special teams quality control at Northwestern. 

UNC-Pembroke (D-II): UNC-Pembroke is looking to hire a full-time offensive line coach. Master’s degree in P.E./Health/Recreation required. Please send resumes & cover letter to Head Coach: [email protected]

North Texas: Head coach Dan McCarney has received a five-year extension through 2018 according to Brett McMurphy; he also reports thew new deal will make McCarney "among the highest-paid coaches in Conference USA."

SMU: Per source, former UCLA running backs coach Steve Broussard will join the SMU staff as running backs coach.

Ohio State: Former Cincinnati linebacker Jon Carpenter has joined the staff as a defensive grad assistant. Jon is the brother of former Buckeye linebacker Bobby Carpenter.

Presentation (NAIA - SD): Presentation College is seeking qualified candidates for the position of RESTRICTED EARNINGS Football Coach - Offense. This is an entry level position, designed to provide the successful candidate coaching and administrative experience. Responsibilities will include coaching a position on the offense to be determined, and assisting the head coach in all aspects of the program (practice and game preparation, recruiting, fundraising, video breakdown, camps, equipment, community involvement, and other duties as assigned). This position pays a stipend of up to $5000, with no housing or benefits, for March 1 – May 31, 2014. Position could be renewed for the 2014-15; June 1, 2014 to May 31, 2015. Bachelor’s degree required, with coaching/playing experience preferred. Interviews will begin immediately and will continue until position is filled. Miami: Miami has landed Booker T. Washington HS (Miami, FL) head coach Tim "Ice" Harris as their assistant DFO. Huge hire.

Minnesota: Minnesota has no current grad assistant positions available.

UConn: Along with coaching the running backs, David Corley will also serve as the director of player engagement.

Adams State (D-II - CO): Former Western State Colorado (D-II) offensive coordinator Tony Case is the new offensive line coach, according to sources.

Minnesota: Sources confirm to us that Mike Sherels will be the new linebackers coach. Sherels is a former Gopher linebacker and spent last season as a defensive GA.

Army: Former Florida Atlantic defensive coordinator Jovan Dewitt and The Citadel offensive coordinator Bob Bodine have officially joined the Army staff, the academy announced today. 

Ave Maria (NAIA - FL): Ave Maria has made a few changes to their coaching staff. Brad Vojcak has been hired to coach the OL after previously serving as an offensive GA at Eastern Michigan, Malcolm Pearson has been hired to coach the DBs (coached corners at Bethel College, KS last year), and Zach Opsal has been hired as special teams coordinator / video coordinator (was a GA at Northern Illinois last year). Also, within the staff, Michael Armstrong will move from secondary to TEs and will remain as DFO, and Ryan Gravel will move from offensive assistant to WRs.

Becker College (D-III - MA): Becker College is looking for a defensive assistant coach to start immediately. The position includes free housing, meals and a stipend over 12 months. The position will be responsible for coaching own position group and recruiting a geographic area. Mississippi Valley State (FCS): Shawn Gregory has returned for his second stint as the Delta Devils' offensive coordinator. 

TCU: Per source, director of high school relations Kenny Perry will be promoted to corners coach. Perry previously served as a head high school coach, most recently at Bowie HS (TX).

West Virginia: Dana Holgorsen stated that senior associate head coach Tom Bradley will work with the defensive line and Damon Cogdell will work with the linebackers.

Grand Valley State (D-II - MI): Per his Twitter, EJ Whitlow is the new defensive line coach at Grand Valley.

Bucknell: Sources tell us that Northwestern offensive grad assistant Rickey Jackson has joined the staff and will coach the receivers.

Lafayette: Per source, Northwestern defensive grad assistant McNeil Parker has joined the Lafayette staff as corners coach.

Northwestern: Sources tell us that Northwestern has promoted Dan Hernandez from offensive quality control to offensive grad assistant.

Northwestern State: Per source, former Southeastern Louisiana head coach Mike Lucas is the new defensive coordinator at Northwestern State (FCS - LA). Last season Lucas coached the defensive line at Indiana State.

Northeastern State (D-II - OK): Ellsworth (CC - IA) head coach Josh Lattimer has resigned to become the defensive coordinator at Northeastern State (D-II - OK).

Texas State: Sources tell us former Arkansas State defensive coordinator John Thompson will join the Texas State staff, likely as defensive coordinator. 

Gardner-Webb (FCS - NC): Gardner-Webb University, a FCS institution in Boiling Springs, NC, is looking for a home football game on October 11 or September 13, 2014. If interested, please contact Chuck Burch, Vice President for Athletics at (704) 406-4342 or [email protected].

Tiffin (D-II - OH): Tiffin University has hired Matt Edwards as defensive coordinator. Edwards previously served as the defensive line and special teams coordiantor at FAU. Sources tell us Tiffin is interviewing candidates for the defensive backs job this week. 

UConn: The Daily Press is reporting that William and Mary receivers coach / passing game coordinator David Corley has accepted a position with the UConn staff and will coach the running backs.

Miami Dolphins: Jack Bicknell Jr. has joined the staff as the assistant offensive line coach. Bicknell previously coached the offensive line for the Steelers.

Kentucky: Per source, Texas State defensive coordinator Craig Naivar has accepted a position on Mark Stoops' staff. He will coach the special teams.




Saturday March 1, 2014 

Longtime Delaware assistant and University of Delaware Athletics Hall of Famer Irv "Coach Whiz" Wisiniewski passed away Wednesday at age 89. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. 

Miami Dolphins: The club announced Saturday that John Benton has been promoted to offensive line coach. He came aboard in January as assistant offensive line coach. 

UC Davis (FCS): The Aggies have hired three assistants to replace the trio that followed Jeff Tedford to Tampa Bay. Paul Creighton will leave the Colorado State-Pueblo staff to coach tight ends. Former Utah offensive line coach Dan Finn will take the same position and Fresno Hoover High School wide receivers coach (and former Aggie wide receiver) Anthony Soto is the new offensive quality control coach.  

Arizona State: Per source, Washington State GA Ray Brown is leaving to be a GA at Arizona State. 

Bethany College (D-III - WV): Bethany College is seeking qualified applicants for one internship level assistant football coach. Positions will report to the Head Football Coach and duties will include coaching, recruiting, and fundraising. Additional duties may be assigned by the Head Coach or the Director of Athletics. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree, a valid driver’s license, and playing experience at the collegiate level. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience coaching at the collegiate or high school level. Experience coaching or playing defensive back is preferred. Knowledge of and adherence to Bethany, NCAA Division III, and Presidents’ Athletic Conference rules and regulations are also required. The start date for this position is immediate. Employment will continue through the end of the academic year with the possibility of rehire for the following year. Compensation includes stipend, room, board and a graduate school tuition waiver into Bethany’s Master of Arts in Teaching program. Fresno State: Sources tell us Marcus Woodson, formerly of Charleston Southern, is the new defensive backs coach at Fresno State. 

Delaware State (FCS): Former North Carolina Central offensive line coach Rod Milstead has accepted an offer to coach the offensive line at Delaware State. Milstead is a Delaware State graduate and played eight seasons in the NFL. 

MidAmerica Nazarena (NAIA - KS): Bruce Pielstick has accepted an offer to be the offensive coordinator at MidAmerica Nazarene. He had previously been the offensive coordinator at Sac State. 

Bryant (FCS - RI): Columbia offensive line coach Ed Argast has joined the Bryant staff, but Ron Tyner remains the offensive line coach. 

Oregon: Oregon released updated information on its staff salaries on Friday. They are - head coach Mark Helfrich, $1.8 million; defensive line coach Ron Aiken, $500,000; defensive coordinator Don Pellum, $500,000; offensive line coach Steve Greatwood, $379,250; offensive coordinator Scott Frost, $367,584; special teams/tight ends coach Tom Osborne, $367,584; wide receivers coach Matt Lubick, $325,000; defensive backs coach John Neal, $325,0000; running backs coach Gary Campbell, $300,000 and inside linebackers coach Erik Chinander, $275,000.

Edmonton Eskimos (CFL): Jonathan Himebauch was announced as the offensive line coach today. 

Widener (D-III - PA): Former Winnipeg Blue Bombers head coach Mike Kelly will be the new head coach at Widener. Kelly replaces Bobby Acosta, who accepted the tight ends job at Syracuse earlier this month. 

Florida State: Jimbo Fisher officially announced the hiring of Bill Miller as linebackers coach. 

Louisville: Louisville released the details of Bobby Petrino's contract on Friday. It's a six-year deal worth $3 million a year with a $10 million buyout should he take another job before 2017. Read more here.

Western Oregon (D-II): Western Oregon is seeking applicants for an assistant football coach who will coach the defensive line. The position is 12 months with pay being between $16,000-$20,000 based on experience. Starting date preferred is April 1st. Newport News Apprentice (D-III - VA): Sources tell us that Paul White is the new head coach. White coached the linebackers last season and is the longtime head coach at Matthews HS (VA).

Bowling Green: Vincent Marshall has been added to the staff as an offensive grad assistant, per sources. Marshall played receiver at Houston and played in the CFL for a few years prior to getting into coaching.

Edmonton Eskimos: Per source, Northeast HS (FL) head coach Kez McCorvey has joined the Eskimos staff. McCorvey previously coached the receivers for the Toronto Argonauts in 2012.

Notre Dame: Brian Kelly stated today that Kerry Cooks, who coached the corners last season, will now coach the corners and safeties. Also, DC Brian VanGorder will coach the inside linebackers and Bob Elliott, who coached the safeties last year, will now coach the outside linebackers.

Minnesota: The football office and coach Claeys are no longer accepting applications for the linebackers job. All future applicants need to apply online via this link. Thank you all for your interest in Gopher football.

Rutgers: Former quarterbacks coach Rob Spence has accepted the head coaching job at Chattanooga Christian HS (TN). Spence also served as offensive coordinator at Syracuse, Clemson, and Bethune Cookman dating back to 2005.

Alabama: Per source, Valdosta State defensive backs coach Doug Belk has accepted a grad assistant job at Alabama working with the secondary

Albany (FCS - NY): Former tight ends coach Kevin Ross has accepted the head coaching job at John S. Burke Catholic HS (NY). Kevin, the son of Bobby Ross, formerly served as offensive coordinator at Army.

Rose Hulman (D-III - IN): Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is seeking applicants for a graduate assistant linebackers coach. The position includes a $10,000 stipend, graduate classes at Indiana State University and meals during the academic year. Bucknell: Sources tell us that quarterbacks coach Mike O'Connor is being promoted to offensive coordinator and RD Montgomery is being promoted to full time status coaching the tight ends and fullbacks.

Utica (D-III - NY): Utica has a defensive graduate assistant position available. Secondary or linebacker experience preferred. Stipend, Housing, Meals, and 12.0 credits per year included. Wyoming: The University of Wyoming is looking to fill a graduate assistant quality control position. It will consist of breaking down offensive film, and splitting time with recruiting office. College level coaching experience is preferred. Must have experience with XOS Thunder, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
