Florida Atlantic University: Description: FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY, an NCAA Division 1 institution and member of the Sun Belt Conference invites those interested in pursuing a career in Strength and Conditioning to apply for an internship with the Strength and Conditioning Department. Potential interns will acquire valuable experience and knowledge while being a positive asset to FAU and its student-athletes.  Upon successful completion of this internship, one should posses and demonstrate the required abilities to advance in the field of Strength and Conditioning.  Duties: Assist Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of strength training, conditioning and speed programs designed for 20 varsity teams, weight room upkeep, equipment maintenance and other duties assigned by the full time staff members.  Qualifications: Potential interns must be self motivated and possess a strong interest in becoming a Strength and Conditioning Coach.  Candidates should have prior weight room experience via previous coaching experience and/or a background as a competitive athlete. In addition, candidates should be pursuing or just completed a Bachelors or Masters degree in exercise science or a related field a well as working towards a certification with the CSCCa or NSCA.  Compensation: Class credit toward graduation requirements, valuable experience and knowledge and earned recommendation to pursue the next step in your career. Ball State: Our sources tell us that Ball State has promoted from within for the head strength position.  We hear former head strength coach Aaron Wellman joined Brady Hoke's staff at San Diego State.

Sacramento State: We hear there is a head strength position open at Sac State.

Wisconsin: We hear head strength coach John Dettmann will now oversee the entire strength program within the athletic department at Wisconsin.  Strength assistant Ben Herbert will take on the role of head strength & conditioning coach for football.

USC: Former Southern Cal player and current Delta College assistant, Gary Hyman, is joining the USC strength & conditioning staff as an assistant.

Northern Arizona University: Strength & Conditioning Department has an immediate opening for the position of Strength and Conditioning Paid Intern for the Spring semester. The successful candidate will be required to work irregular hours and weekends with the strength & conditioning department. The program is designed for the post bachelor professional looking for experience. The daily responsibilities will include:  1.  Assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs.  2.  Teaching student athletes proper techniques and equipment use.  3.  Attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities  4.  Participation in weekly projects and assignments throughout the internship program - Compensation: This is a temporary position without expectation of continued employment. This position will pay $325 per month with no benefits or relocation assistance. Division 1 experience with earned recommendation for future career opportunities is also provided.  Time Line of Internship: ASAP, through May 15, 2009. Qualifications: Must have a strong work-ethic, high levels of energy and have a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor's degree and a certification from one of the following: NSCA, CSCS; CSCCA, SCCC; USAW.
