Gardner-Webb: Gardner-Webb University’s Athletic Performance Department is currently seeking qualified intern candidates for the Spring 2013 semester. Applicants should be interested in advancing their career in collegiate athletic performance. Duration of the internship will be performance based, and will begin on January 9th. Individuals chosen for the position are subject to university background checks and standard hiring procedures. This is a non-paid volunteer position, requiring a minimum of 15 hours/week, though more hours will be strongly encouraged. Interns will receive experience working at a Division I program, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities and receive college credit if applicable. South Dakota State: South Dakota State University, is accepting applications for a qualified, highly motivated Graduate Assistant in Strength and Conditioning. Responsibilities include, but are not
limited to, assisting in design and implementation of strength & conditioning programs for assigned sports. Provide proper instruction for safe and effective lifting techniques and equipment usage. Supervise weight room day-to-day activities and conduct periodic performance & strength testing. Qualifications: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree with an emphasis in sports sciences, CPR certification and certified or working to be certified through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC) or National Strength & Conditioning Association (CSCS). In order to be awarded the position the candidate must be admitted to graduate school at South Dakota State University. Compensation includes 2/3 tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. Villanova: Villanova Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for a full time Intern Assistant Strength and Conditioning Position. The internship will begin January 2, 2012. Position will include a $1000/month stipend along with health insurance and meals. Individuals selected will receive a unique experience working with both Olympic Sports and Football. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: monitoring, cleaning, and organizing the sports performance facility; managing a nutrition bar; communicating with the other members of the Strength Staff, assisting head strength and conditioning coaches for Olympic sports and Football in all aspects of the sports performance program. Portland State: Portland State University is looking for 4 qualified applicants for a full time internship position for the winter term, starting January 6. This is an unpaid internship working with football and possibly men’s and women’s tennis. Responsibilities include coaching proper technique and motivating the athletes through off-season weight lifting and conditioning activities, maintenance and cleanliness of the weight room, research projects on various topics, as well as anything else the head football strength and conditioning coach needs assistance with. The applicant will receive valuable experience at the division I level as well as knowledge that will serve them in the field. Along with coaching in the weight room and on the field, there will be structured classroom times for further education. Requirements: Must be able to work full time and whenever you are needed, Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education (or related field) or in final semester, a valid CPR/First Aid certification, and a desire to be a successful strength and conditioning coach.
