Notre Dame: The Strength and Conditioning department at the University of Notre Dame is currently accepting applications for internship positions for the Summer 2014 semester. Interns will have the opportunity to work with all 25 Olympic Sport Teams at the University of Notre Dame. Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in an institution of higher education AND be receiving class credit. Candidates must possess or be working toward a certification through the CSCCa, NSCA and/or USAW. Candidates must possess one year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletic experience. Candidates must have outstanding work ethic and attention to detail. Candidates must have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Compensation: There is no monetary compensation provided. However, the position offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours toward a program degree. Interns will receive hands on experience with elite level Olympic Sport teams. University of San Francisco: The University of San Francisco Strength and Conditioning Department is looking for two (2) enthusiastic candidates to fill the positions of VOLUNTEER/INTERN for the Spring 2014 semester. This is an unpaid position in which the potential candidates will develop and gain experience through research-based training modalities aimed at injury prevention, performance preparation and the physical, psychological and cognitive development of our student-athletes. Required Qualifications: Applicants should have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or a related field. Preferred Qualifications: Pursuing or completed Master’s degree in Exercise Science or a related field and working towards CSCS, USAW, CSCCa, or SCCC. Qualified candidates must have a relentless work ethic; a strong desire to be involved in Strength and Conditioning at the collegiate level; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; must be diligent and willing to learn; passionate about teaching/motivating student-athletes; work cooperatively with coaches and sports medicine staff; familiarity and commitment to working in culturally diverse, strong academic environment; proficient at various computer/technology applications; adhere to all University, West Coast Conference and NCAA regulations. This position requires a minimum of 30 hours per week. Compensation: 1). Gaining valuable experience in a Division I Strength and Conditioning department. 2.) Washington: The University of Washington Football Strength and Conditioning department is accepting internship applications for the winter quarter 2014. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to; assisting with the overall production and cleanliness of the training environment along with participating in weekly projects and activities. Intern/ Volunteer qualifications include: punctuality, relentless work ethic, positive communication skills and enthusiasm. Preferred qualifications include: senior status or completion of a bachelor’s degree, competitive sport background along with the ability to volunteer a minimum of 30 hours a week. Pepperdine: Pepperdine University’s Strength and Conditioning Department is currently seeking qualified paid and non-paid intern candidates for the Spring 2014 semester. Applicants should currently be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Current CPR certification is required. Duration of the internship will be performance based, and will begin on January 5th. Individuals chosen for the position are subject to university background checks and standard hiring procedures. Paid intern positions require a minimum of 15 hours/week, NSCA-CSCS and prior strength and conditioning experience. Gardner-Webb: Gardner-Webb University is seeking a Graduate Assistant strength and conditioning coach. Applicant must possess a strong knowledge of teaching technique of Olympic-style lifting exercises. Introduce and teach the objectives of each training phase to student-athletes. Duties will include assisting with the day to day Football program as well as covering assigned sports by the Director. Louisville: The University of Louisville Football Strength and Conditioning department is accepting internship applications for the Spring of 2014. The planned start dates for this internship will be January 5 (based upon availability) and will continue through the end of April. This is a full-time unpaid internship, responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with the supervision and training of all Louisville Cardinal Football players, assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties, and completion of various educational assignments during the internship are also required. Qualifications: All applicants must be HIGHLY MOTIVATED individuals looking to advance their career in strength and conditioning.
