Iona: The Strength and Conditioning Department at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY, is accepting internship applications from college students completing requirements in Exercise Science and other related fields, for the fall, spring, and summer of 2010-2011. Iona College is a Division 1 athletic program competing in the MAAC Conference. The Internship opportunity would provide interns with the opportunity to work directly with student athletes of all 21 Division 1 sports. The intern would have the opportunity to observe and coach the diverse student athlete population. Duties would include assisting Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in all aspects of the program, including programming, strength training, agility training, conditioning, and maintenance of facilities. Interns must have a strong desire to work in strength and conditioning and be working towards or have attained their CSCS. Baylor University: Department of Athletic Performance is accepting applications for Spring 2011 Athletic Performance Interns.  Intern responsibilities include: Assisting with the supervision of training programs; Assisting with daily administrative and maintenance items; Completion of various educational assignments during the internship.  Intern qualifications include: Strong work ethic; Punctuality; Enthusiasm; Desire to further one’s career in the strength and conditioning field; Ability to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours per week.  Preferred qualifications include: Senior status or completion of a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field; CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification; CPR certification. Colgate University: We hear Joel Brown has been promoted to full-time assistant strength coach at Colgate University.

Missouri State University: Department of Strength & Conditioning  is currently accepting applications for intership opportunities for the Spring 2011 semester. The internships are unpaid, but we will make every effort to make sure that the internships meet the necessary curriculum for college credit. Duties will include assisting the Director & Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning with all aspects of the strength & conditioning program including but not limited to: warm-up, strength, speed, agility, and conditioning for respective teams as well as maintenance and upkeep of two intercollegiate facilities. Candidates must have a strong desire to be a strength & conditioning coach. Must have completed or are working towards completing a bachelors degree from an accredited institution. Must also be certified or working towards certification in CPR/ CSCS/CSCCA. SMU: (Spring internship) Assist the Southern Methodist University, Sports Performance staff in the day-to-day operations in the weight room. Duties will include but are not limited to; assist the sports performance staff in the implementation of strength and conditioning programs for 16 varsity sports, instruction of safe and proper execution of all facets of athletic development, and assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Spring interns will work primarily with Football, Men’s and Women’s soccer, swimming, tennis and Women’s Volleyball. Qualifications: Pursuing Bachelors in exercise science or a related field.  Experience in a collegiate setting, and a strong desire to become strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level.  Certification or working towards certifications with the NSCA-CSCS  and/or USAW.   Upon successful completion of this internship, one should posses and demonstrates the required abilities to advance in the field of Strength and Conditioning.  Compensation: This is an unpaid position. Ohio State: Description: The intern will work with Division I college student-athletes in football. The intern program is designed for highly motivated men and women. Interns will help implement the strength and conditioning program and be expected to participate in several professional development projects to complete the CSCCa internship/practicum requirements with Coach Doug Davis who is a CSCCa approved-practicum mentor; Required Qualifications: minimum college senior majoring in exercise physiology or a related field; prior coaching experience; CPR certification; Preferred Qualifications: BA/BS in exercise physiology or a related field; nationally accredited certifications; college athletic/coaching experience; Compensation: College credit, gear when available, CSCCa practicum requirements and ability to sit for SCCC exam upon successful completion of internship and evaluation, Division I college football strength and conditioning experience. Iona College: We have learned that University of Albany assistant strength coach Conor Hughes has accepted the head strength job at Iona College.
