Haverford College: located in the Philadelphia suburb of Haverford, Pennsylvania, is currently accepting applications for position of Strength and Conditioning/Fitness Center Director Intern for the 2010 Fall and Spring semesters.  This position is ideal for qualified, highly motivated students pursuing their undergraduate or graduate degree in the field of Exercise Science. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with the performance enhancement program development and implementation for Haverford's 21 Division III intercollegiate athletic programs; developing and directing fitness programs and/or classes for Haverford's non-varsity athlete population; assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties; and completing various educational projects which match the intern's interests.  Qualifications include: strong work ethic; punctuality; enthusiasm; pursuing Bachelors or Masters Degree in Exercise Science or related field; holding or pursuing a CSCS and USAW certification; CPR/1st Aid certification; and a desire to further one's career in the field of Strength & Conditioning or Fitness Center management.  Volunteer interns will in turn receive hands-on experience working at a highly successful intercollegiate program, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable.  Further information on the internship and application process can be found at: http://www.haverford.edu/athletics/strengthandconditioning/internship.php.  With questions or to apply, please contact Cory Walts, Strength & Conditioning Coach, at [email protected].

University of Pittsburgh: Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Olympic Sports. Full Time position with Olympic Sports, The University of Pittsburgh Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting applicants for the position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Olympic Sports. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach reports to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach of Olympic Sports while working with sport coaches, athletic training staff, and athletes. The successful applicant will be is responsible for developing, coordinating, and conducting all aspects of athletic development for teams and athletes assigned, including but not limited to: speed/agility, strength, fitness, and flexibility programs, including in-season, off-season, and winter/summer break programs. Other duties include athlete testing and evaluation, administrative tasks, scheduling and monitoring the Fieldhouse Weight room, and facility cleaning and maintenance duties as required. Requirements: Master's degree in exercise science, human performance or physiology, kinesiology, applied sport science, or related field; one year experience with a college or university strength and conditioning program; experience with men's and women's teams, specifically previous experience with the following teams: track & field, swimming, soccer, volleyball, cross country; current certifications: NSCA CSCS, USAW Sports Performance Coach or Club Coach and CSCCa; proven experience leading groups of athletes, including warm-ups, speed/agility sessions, stretching, and weight training exercises (including teaching and evaluating Olympic lifts); nationally-recognized certifications in first aid, CPR, and AED. To apply e-mail: Kim King, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Olympic Sports. University of West Florida: Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. The University of West Florida is seeking a qualified, highly motivated graduate assistant candidate to assist with implementation and supervision of strength and conditioning programs for 13 intercollegiate sports. Duties will include but are not limited to assisting the strength and conditioning staff with the implementation of sport-appropriate strength, speed, agility, flexibility and conditioning programs for all sports and working with safety and risk management. A Bachelor's degree and acceptance into the University of West Florida's graduate program are required. Cal Poly: San Luis Obispo strength & conditioning department is now accepting applications for a paid (hourly) internship.  The department sponsors 19 sports at the Division I and Division 1AA (Football) level.  Under supervision of the Head Strength and Conditioning coach, the Strength and Conditioning Intern will assist in comprehensive sport performance training programs for student-athletes.  Intern responsibilities include (not limited to):  1. design and implement strength and conditioning programs for assigned teams, 2. coach training sessions in acceleration, agility, maximum velocity, strength & power, 3. manage, maintain, and clean training facility, 4. Wofford College: FootballScoop has learned that former Missouri State assistant strength coach Todd Riedel has accepted the director of stregnth & conditioning job at Wofford College.  Our source tell us that a paid internship position will soon open at Wofford College as well.
