Stanford: Stanford University is accepting applications for volunteer intern coaches to contribute to the Football Sports Performance Program. Qualified candidates will serve the Football program as a non-counted coach that will have the opportunity to assist in all training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules. This unpaid opportunity provides coaching experience assisting the staff implement the individualized, comprehensive injury prevention and performance enhancement program for the Track & Field and Wrestling programs. Potential candidates must possess an enthusiastic spirit, strong character and demonstrate effective organization and communication skills. Required qualifications include achievement or current pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related course of study in addition to current CPR/AED certification . This internship is expected to begin no later than Monday, January 6th 2014, and requires a 6-month time commitment. During this evaluation, interns will have the opportunity to compete and earn a paid full-time internship position on the Football Sports Performance staff. Savannah State: Ken Coggins has been hired as the head strength and conditioning coach and will oversee all 16 University sports. Coggins previously served as the Centerfield Baseball Academy's director of athletic performance.
Clemson: Clemson University Department of Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill Spring 2014 internship positions. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I Collegiate Strength and Conditioning setting. Individuals will also have the opportunity to work with all the Olympic sports that train out of Jervey weight room. It may fulfill course credit if necessary. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs for various sports, attending to daily maintenance of the training facilities, and professional development throughout internship program. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, and a strong desire to become a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach. Morgan State (FSC - MD): Morgan State University Strength and Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. Morgan State University competes at the NCAA Division I level, and is a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Football competes in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision. Applicant will assist the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with all aspects of strength and conditioning department including design, implementation and supervision of strength and conditioning programs for 3-5 teams as assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. The applicant will also assist with football. He or she must also be able to demonstrate and teach all Olympic lifts and have a strong work ethic as well as strong communication and motivational skills. Qualifications: (Required) - Bachelor’s degree in physical education, exercise science or related field, Masters degree preferred; CSCS or SCCC certification; CPR and First Aid certifications; 2 years college coaching experience. Mississippi State: Mississippi State University Strength & Conditioning Department is accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Intern for both Football and Olympic Sports for the Spring 2014 semester. The successful candidate will be required to schedule and maintain a minimum of 40 hours per week with the Strength & Conditioning Department. The program is designed for undergraduate students and the post bachelor professional looking for experience. The daily responsibilities will include: Assisting with supervision of strength training programs; Attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities; Participation in weekly projects and assignments throughout the internship program. UNC-Charlotte: Jimmy Duba has been hired as the new director of strength and conditioning.
Arizona: Troy Ramsey has joined the Wildcats strength staff after spending the last season at Colorado.
Seattle University: Seattle University has an opening for a graduate assistant. The candidate will be responsible for assisting the coordinators of strength and conditioning in program design and implementation. Will assist coordinators in assigned sports and be head strength and conditioning coach for select teams. Graduate Assistant duties include but are not limited to: sport assignments; provide proper instruction for safe and effective lifting techniques and equipment usage; assist in the maintenance and daily upkeep of the Athletic Performance Center; and any other responsibilities assigned by supervisors. Candidate must adhere to all university, WAC, and NCAA Division I regulations. Candidate must also have a strong desire to work in collegiate strength and conditioning post-graduation. The Richard Stockton College of NJ (D-III): Christian Allen has been hired as the new head strength and conditioning coach. Allen previously served as an intern strength assistant with the Philadelphia Eagles, the University of South Florida, and Villanova University.
Seattle University: Alex Keough and Wes Phillips have been hired as coordinators of strength and conditioning at Seattle University. Keough previously served as both an intern and a full time assistant at Seattle and interned at the Universities of Washington and Montana, and Phillips has interned with Stanford, the Seattle Storm, and has had a season job with the Miami Marlins of minor league baseball.
