Gardner-Webb: Gardner-Webb University is seeking a full-time assistant strength and conditioning coach. Applicant must possess a strong knowledge of teaching technique of Olympic-style lifting exercises. Introduce and teach the objectives of each training phase to student-athletes. Duties will include assisting with the day to day Football program as well as covering assigned sports by the Director. San Jose State: San Jose State University is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate for the position of VOLUNTEERINTERN in the Athletic Performance Department for the Fall Semester. The capable candidates will have the opportunity to advance their competence while gaining knowledge and experience in the field of Athletic Performance at a Division 1A institution. Responsibilities for both NON-PAID positions are: assist AP staff with all daily maintenance and operational duties, involvement in volunteer/intern professional development program, as well as other duties assigned by the Head Athletic Performance Coach.Qualifications: Applicants should be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field. Must have a strong desire to be involved in Athletic Performance at the collegiate level; proficient in Microsoft Excel; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; must be diligent and willing to learn; adhere to all university, conference and NCAA regulations. Stetson: Stetson University Strength & Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for (volunteer) Strength & Conditioning Interns for the 2013-2014 school year. Responsibilities include: designing & implementing year-round strength & conditioning programs for select teams at SU (TBD), assisting in the complete training of all teams, student workers, projects, scheduling of teams, cleaning and maintenance of facilities. University of Pennsylvania: University of Pennsylvania is accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning Interns and/or Volunteer Assistants for the Fall and Spring semesters. UPenn is a member of the Ivy League Conference. Responsibilities include: assisting with the supervision and training of UPenn's 31 Division I intercollegiate athletic programs; assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties; completion of various educational assignments during the internship are required. Qualifications include: strong work ethic; punctuality; enthusiasm; desire to further one’s career in the field of Strength & Conditioning. Villanova: Villanova Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting volunteer intern applicants for Fall 2013. Daily responsibilities include: assisting with the set up and break down of weight room and football field for conditioning workouts, daily clean up and maintenance of the weight room and equipment, intern will assist with supervision and demonstration during the training sessions. Applicants must be highly self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, a desire to learn, and a strong work ethic. Applicants are encouraged to either possess or be preparing to sit for a field related professional certification. Potential interns with CPR/AED certification will be given preference. This is an unpaid position; however, volunteers will receive a unique experience working with both Football and Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning Coaches. At the conclusion of the internship, volunteers will be better prepared to sit for professional certification exams, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit, if applicable. Northwestern: Northwestern University Sports Performance is looking for Olympic Sports Intern Fall 2013. This is an unpaid internship position working with male and female athletes across 18 teams. Candidates should be pursuing a career as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach or a similar field. Candidates should be dedicated, hardworking, and outgoing and will be expected to assist in daily facility duties, execution of team workouts, and complete assignments pertaining to the field. Positions are open to all applicants but past collegiate weight room experience and certifications are preferred. Candidates are expected to uphold rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA and Big Ten conference. James Madison: Christian Carter, from East Tennessee State University, has accepted the senior assistant strength coach position. Carter was a grad assistant strength coach at Virginia Tech before doing his doctoral work at ETSU. Also, Jake Patton, former head strength coach at American University, is the associate director of strength and conditioning for football at JMU.

Shenandoah University: James Madison assistant strength coach Quintrel Lenore has accepted the head strength and conditioning position at Shenandoah University.

Washburn (D-II - KS): Washburn University, a NCAA Division II member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association Conference, is accepting applications for a Paid Intern/Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the school year 2013 - 2014. Applicants must have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. This position offers no benefits. Washburn University seeks qualified individuals preferably with collegiate experience to assist with all 10 Division- 2 varsity athletic sports and cheer squad. Primary responsibilities include assisting with the supervision and execution of training programs, assisting the strength staff in all phases of the program including upkeep of facility. Secondary responsibilities will be working with assigned sports. Qualifications include strong work ethic, punctual, and enthusiastic. Also prior weight room experience via previous coaching experience and/or a background as a competitive athlete. Bachelor's degree in a related field required. University of Great Falls (NAIA - MT): The University of Great Falls is seeking a highly motivated, dedicated professional for the position of Graduate Assistant in the strength and conditioning department. The dates of responsibility will be September 1-June 30 and is a part-time position. Compensation includes Tuition remission plus $5,000 dollar stipend. The candidate will need to be accepted into the university’s graduate program, as well as maintain an AED/CPR and current First Aid Certification This position offers the opportunity to gain direct experience training athletes, encompassing strength and conditioning program design and implementation for student-athletes in all 14 sports; involving education and instruction on proper lifting technique, running mechanics, speed development, agility training, flexibility and recovery methods. A Bachelor’s degree is required. The successful candidate must possess significant expertise within the strength and conditioning field; excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; the ability to motivate student-athletes and work cooperatively with coaches and the sport medicine staff; a commitment to excellence and value of education; familiarity and comfort working in an environment with a strong academic commitment; and sensitivity to cultural differences. Proficiency with computer applications, general office software and knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations required. Certification by CSCS, USAW and/or CSCCA needs to be actively pursued if not already obtained. Tartleton State (D-II - TX): Tarleton State has hired assistant strength and conditioning coach Adam Biehl from Gardner-Webb to be their first ever full-time assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Maryland: Sources tell us that former Maryland and Wofford strength assistant Josh Siemens is now working at the US Olympic training center in San Diego.

Cumberland (TN): Cumberland University Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting two volunteer (UNPAID) strength and conditioning intern positions for the fall 2013 semester. Internship will begin immediately through December 6, 2013. Qualifications: Completed or working towards Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field; current CPR/AED certification; previous internship/coaching experience; desire to pursue career as a strength and conditioning coach, strong work ethic. Must have a flexible schedule. Preferred: Currently possesses or working toward CSCS or SCCC certification; ability to work with Microsoft Office programs. Responsibilities: Setup and breakdown of equipment for training sessions, assisting strength and conditioning coaches with warm-ups, coaching proper lifting form and technique, and weight room maintenance. THIS IS A VOLUNTEER POSITION; THERE IS NO COMPENSATION. Interns will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field as well as fulfill school internship hours if necessary. Yale: Mike Harris, who worked as a strength and conditioning assistant with the St. Louis Cardinals minor league program, has accepted a strength and conditioning position at Yale.

North Carolina Central: North Carolina Central University’s Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting two volunteer (UNPAID) strength and conditioning internships for the fall 2013 semester. Qualifications: Candidates must have a strong desire to become a Strength and Conditioning professional; Must have completed or are working toward completing a bachelors degree at an accredited college/university; Must volunteer a minimum of 20 hours per week; knowledgeable in exercise physiology and biomechanics; Must have a current CPR/AED certification. Preferred qualifications: 2 semester commitment, bachelors degree completed, previous internship and collegiate athletic experience, and one of the following certifications; CSCS, SCCC, USAW, or FMS. Thomas University (NAIA - GA): Samford strength intern Brandon Joyner has accepted a grad assistant position at Thomas University.

TCU: TCU currently has one internship position available for the 2013 Fall Semester Internships through the TCU Strength & Conditioning department are currently available for the Fall 2013 semester for those who would like to pursue a career in Strength & Conditioning. The TCU Strength & Conditioning Department is a teaching department that offers our interns hands-on experience as well as prepares them to become qualified Strength & Conditioning professionals. Interns will have the opportunity to work with all sixteen (16) of TCU’s Men’s and Women’s sports totaling more than 400 student-athletes. This is a non-paid position but offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours towards a degree program.
