Saint Leo (D-II - FL): Saint Leo University is currently accepting internship applications for the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters. Qualified candidates should be planning on pursuing a career in Strength and Conditioning. This 17 week internship will afford candidates the opportunity to acquire hands-on experience and knowledge working with all (17) sports while becoming a positive asset to Saint Leo University and its student-athletes. Qualifications Strong work ethic, punctual, and enthusiastic. Junior or Senior, working towards completion of a Bachelor’s degree, as well as working toward a certification with CSCCA or NSCA. Prior weight room experience via previous coaching experience and/or a background as a competitive athlete. Ability to work 30-40 hours plus a week. Compensation This is an UNPAID internship but free apparel will be provided to the student during participation. A liability form must be signed before participation stating the university will not be held responsible for any injuries that may occur during the internship. The ability to earn class credit towards graduation requirements is also available. Colorado: The University of Colorado at Boulder, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Sports Performance Program is accepting applications for the 2014 Spring Semester Sports Performance Internship. Qualifications: Ideal candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exercise Science, or related field of study. Must possess a strong work ethic, a willingness to be open to new ideas and possess a strong desire to enter the Sports Performance field, particularly at the collegiate level. Current certification, or working towards certification with the NSCA-CSCS or CSCCa. CSCCa mentorship program is available to those pursuing the SCCC certification. CPR certification/renewal can be attained during the internship. Compensation: This is an unpaid voluntary position. Candidates will have the opportunity to learn and gain experience at a highly competitive Division 1 Pac-12 institution. The curriculum is structured and designed to prepare candidates to advance a career in the Sports Performance field. Athletic apparel will be provided when available. UMass: The University of Massachusetts Football Strength and Conditioning Department is looking for motivated individuals who are interested in Spring volunteer internship positions. A background in Exercise Science, Sport Science, Kinesiology or related field is preferred but not required. Applicants should also be in pursuit of obtaining a CSCS, USAW, or SCCC certification as well as being CPR certified. Individuals who apply should be highly motivated, have strong work ethic, be punctual, and have a strong desire to become a future strength and conditioning coach. Daily duties will consist of aiding the strength and conditioning staff with assessments of student athletes, sitting in on meetings when designing programs, implementation of programs, performing proper lifting techniques, motivating athletes, and general maintenance/cleaning of the strength and conditioning facility. Interns will receive experience working at a Division I program, better understand program design, and have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities. Maine: University of Maine is currently seeking applicants for our Spring Semester 2014 Speed, Strength & Conditioning Internship Program. Must adhere to the rules of the NCAA, The University of Maine Intercollegiate Athletics Department, Colonial Athletic Association, America East Conference, and the Hockey East Conference. Required qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or a related field, and/or a strong desire to become a Collegiate/Professional Speed Strength & Conditioning Coach. Preferred qualifications: Currently pursuing NSCA, USAW, or CSCCa certification(s) Compensation: This is a non-paid volunteer position. Rutgers: The Rutgers University Football Strength and Conditioning department is accepting applications for the position of Football Volunteer Intern for the summer of 2014. This is an unpaid/voluntary internship so if this position is not an economically feasible option for you, please do not apply.  This position is responsible for assisting the Rutgers Strength and Conditioning Staff implement the off-season program and assist in all departmental functions.. Central Connecticut State: Central Connecticut State is seeking applicants for their internship program. Description: Central Connecticut State University is accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Intern for spring 2014. Central Connecticut State University competes in the Northeast Conference, and currently has 18 Division 1 Varsity intercollegiate athletic programs. The successful candidate will be required to schedule and maintain a minimum of 30 hours per week with the Strength and Conditioning Department. The program is designed for current undergraduate students who want to continue into the field of Strength and Conditioning and gain experience. Compensation: Division 1 intercollegiate experience, earned recommendation toward further success as Strength and Conditioning Coach, gear and college credit towards graduation if applicable Qualifications: Must have a strong work ethic and have a desire to become a Strength and Conditioning professional. Villanova: The Villanova Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting volunteer intern applicants for Spring 2014. Daily responsibilities include: assisting with the set up and break down of weight room and turf field for conditioning workouts; daily clean-up and maintenance of the weight room and equipment; assist with supervision and demonstration during the training sessions. Applicants must be highly self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written, desire to learn, and have a strong work ethic. Applicant should already possess or be eligible and preparing to sit for the CSCS, CSCCA, PES, and/or USAW. Interns MUST be CPR/AED certified. This is an unpaid position; however, volunteers will receive a unique experience working at a Division I program with Olympic Sports. At the end of the internship, volunteers will better understand program design, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit, if applicable. Western Michigan: Sources tell us that Florida offensive graduate assistant Dan Wenger has accepted a full-time assistant strength and conditioning job with Western Michigan. 

Merrimack: Merrimack College is seeking applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Intern in the Department of Athletics. Merrimack is a Catholic Institution with more than 2,000 students, and is a member of NCAA Division I Hockey East and also of the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 conference. Responsibilities for the position will entail assisting in implementation of all aspects of Strength and Conditioning programs for 23 intercollegiate sports in a brand- new 5,000 square foot Varsity Weight Room. Interns will assist with all strength, speed, and conditioning training, as well as weight room maintenance and upkeep. Interns may also be responsible for the design and implementation of programs for 1-2 teams. This is an unpaid position. Candidates are required to be working toward a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field, also pursuing relevant certifications, and have a strong desire to pursue a career in Strength and Conditioning. Mercer: Mercer University Football, a Division I FCS member of the Pioneer Football League and future member of the Southern Conference, is currently accepting applications for the position of one (1) Intern Strength Coach. The position is responsible for assisting the Director of Strength & Conditioning in all departmental functions. Duties will include assisting with Mercer University Football’s Strength & Conditioning Program in brand new 5,000 square foot weight room, as well as writing and implementing Strength program for one (1) assigned collegiate team. Qualifications required are experience with teaching and demonstrating the Olympic lifts, Power lifts and other movements to collegiate teams; 6+ months experience in writing and implementing sports performance team work outs; first aid and CPR certified; an accredited certification (preferably CSCS, USAW, or SCCC). Applicants should have a strong desire to pursue a career as a full time, collegiate strength & conditioning coach. Position primarily needed to assist with Football and Lacrosse, and be fully responsible for one of the assigned teams (M&W Tennis, M&W Golf, Cross Country, Cheer; but not limited to only these sports). Wisconsin-Whitewater: UW-W has a Strength & Conditioning Internship for Spring Semester 2014 (Jan. 20-May 9) available. This is an UNPAID internship but great opportunity to gain experience. Duties: Assist S & C coordinator with all aspects of training for all varsity sports. Provide leadership and instruction in the athletic development of student athletes to include skill analysis, teach proper technique and adapt workouts to match each sports specific need. Provide encouragement, motivate, and give feedback to student athletes to ensure maximum development of athletic potential. Assist with outside activities as assigned by S & C Coach. Job Requirements: Strong desire to pursue a career in collegiate strength and conditioning. Excellent work ethic. Ability to adapt to schedule changes. CPR/First Aid certified. Desired Skills: Knowledge and experience in all areas of strength training including Olympic style lifting as well as speed, agility, plyometric, flexibility and conditioning methods. Working towards or completion of an undergrad/grad degree in Exercise Science or related field. Currently certified or working towards certification from nationally known organization. Tulsa: University of Tulsa Department of Athletic Performance is accepting applications for the Spring 2014 Athletic Performance Paid Internship Position. Paid intern responsibilities include: Assisting with the supervision of training programs; Assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties; Completion of various educational assignments. South Alabama: The University of South Alabama Department of Strength & Conditioning is currently accepting applications for 3 full-time intern positions for the spring semester. Successful candidates can expect to work full time for the duration of the 16-week internship starting Jan. 9th. Application for the internship at the University of South Alabama should include a cover letter, resume, and have a bachelor’s degree or be a college senior at an accredited institution. Intern responsibilities include: Assisting with the supervision and implementation of nutrition for Baylor athletics; Assisting with day to day nutrition tasks, administrative and maintenance items; Completion of various educational assignments during the internship.
