Arizona State University: Sports Performance Internship . Job Description: The goal of our program is to provide an encompassing view of collegiate strength and conditioning, including programming, exercise technique, facility upkeep and exposure to a diverse array of 21 sports in a high paced environment. As an intern in the ASU Sports Performance program you will have the opportunity to gain real world in the trenches coaching experience; you will also learn under the bar while training in the program. Aside from the daily duties required of the position there will be assigned readings and projects to further the development of your knowledge base. This internship is designed for you to develop the needed experience and skills to make you a stronger candidate in taking the next step in your coaching career – this typically being a graduate assistant coaching position. This internship is intended for those whose #1 goal is to become a Sports Performance Coach at the collegiate level. Qualifications: In pursuit of or recent completion of a Bachelors or Masters degree in an exercise science related field. Experience in a collegiate strength and conditioning setting. A strong desire to become a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level. Certification or working towards certification with the NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa, and/or USAW. Compensation: This is an unpaid position with no housing or meal assistance. Internship credit hours may be obtained. Expansion of your professional network and references. Missouri: The University Of Missouri Department Of Athletic Performance is now accepting applications for the position of Volunteer Intern with 2 positions available for the Spring Semester of 2011. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assistance of supervision for daily activities, set up and break down for daily activities, routine maintenance, weekly projects and reports, and assistance with execution of workout design and implementation for various sports. There is no monetary compensation provided, however, there will be opportunities for professional development. The Pirate Strength & Conditioning staff is looking for very motivated and vocal individuals for this position. Intern responsibilities include: Assisting with the supervision of training programs; Assisting with daily administrative and maintenance items; Completion of various educational assignments during the internship. Intern qualifications include: Strong work ethic; Punctuality; Enthusiasm; Desire to further one’s career in the strength and conditioning field; Ability to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours per week. Preferred qualifications include: Senior status or completion of a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field; CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification; CPR certification. This is an unpaid internship. Missouri State University: Department of Strength & Conditioning is currently accepting applications for intership opportunities for the Spring 2011 semester. The internships are unpaid, but we will make every effort to make sure that the internships meet the necessary curriculum for college credit. Duties will include assisting the Director & Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning with all aspects of the strength & conditioning program including but not limited to: warm-up, strength, speed, agility, and conditioning for respective teams as well as maintenance and upkeep of two intercollegiate facilities. Candidates must have a strong desire to be a strength & conditioning coach. Must have completed or are working towards completing a bachelors degree from an accredited institution. Must also be certified or working towards certification in CPR/ CSCS/CSCCA.
