Florida Atlantic: Description: FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY, a NCAA Division 1 institution and member of the Sun Belt Conference invites those interested in pursuing a career in Strength and Conditioning to apply for a summer internship with the Strength and Conditioning Department. Potential interns will acquire valuable experience and knowledge while being a positive asset to FAU and its student-athletes.  Upon successful completion of this internship, one should posses and demonstrate the required abilities to advance in the field of Strength and Conditioning. Duties: Assist Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of strength training, conditioning and speed programs designed for 17 varsity teams, weight room upkeep, equipment maintenance and other duties assigned by the full time staff members. There will be an opportunity to have responsibility over 1 or more sports teams TBD by your comprehension, prior experience, knowledge and skill level. Qualifications: Potential interns must be self motivated and possess a strong interest in becoming a Strength and Conditioning Coach.  Candidates should have prior weight room experience via previous coaching experience and/or a background as a competitive athlete. In addition, candidates should be pursuing or just completed a Bachelors or Masters degree in exercise science or a related field a well as working towards a certification with the CSCCa or NSCA. Compensation: Class credit toward graduation requirements, valuable experience and knowledge and earned recommendation to pursue the next step in your career. Green Bay Packers: We hear Packers assistant strength coach Dave Redding has decided to retire and the Packers will hire Zac Woodfin as his replacement.  Woodfin works with Athletes Performance.

Dallas Cowboys: New England Patriots strength coach Mike Woicik accepted the strength job with the Cowboys.  We hear New England will promote assistant Harold Nash to head strength coach.

South Carolina: Our sources tell us South Carolina head strength coach Craig Fitzgerald turned down the NY Jets head strength position.

Purdue: Former San Francisco 49ers strength coach has accepted the director of sports performance at Purdue.

North Carolina: We hear Butch Davis has interest in former Michigan head strength coach Mike Barwis.

Miami (OH): Wayne State head strength coach Paul Harker accepted the head strength job at Miami (OH).

Carolina Panthers: Joe Kenn accepted the head strength job with the Panthers.  Kenn once served in the same capacity at Louisville.

Ball State: FIU assistant David Feeley has accepted the head strength job at Ball State.

Texas Tech: The Texas Tech University football Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for summer 2011 interns.  This is a highly competitive and demanding position. The daily responsibilities will include: 1. Assist the Director and Assistant Director's of Strength & Conditioning with Football 2. Daily clean up and maintenance of the facility and all its equipment 3. Setup and break down of weight room and field for football workouts/conditioning 4.  Assist with program design, organization, implementation, and supervision of training sessions. Qualifications: Must have a strong work-ethic and have a desire to become strength and conditioning professional. Ideal candidates will have a bachelors degree and working towards a certification from one of the following. (NSCA, CSCS; CSCCA, SCCC; USAW) Must have CPR/AED certification; Prior strength coaching experience and/or collegiate playing experience is preferred, knowledge of Olympic lifts, experience working with Microsoft Word/Excel preferred. Compensation: This position will include housing.
