VCU: We hear new VCU head basketball coach, Shaka Smart, will hired Daniel Roose as his strength coach. Roose has served as the head strength coach at UNC-Pembroke.

Tennessee: FootballScoop has learned that head strength coach Mark Smith has decided to part ways with Lane Kiffin. Smith joined the Vols' staff in January, coming over from South Carolina. It will be interesting to see if Kiffin goes after North Texas head strength coach Aaron Ausmus. Ausmus worked at USC while Kiffin and Ed Orgeron. Orgeron then hired Ausmus when he became the head coach at Ole Miss.

University of Detroit Mercy - 2009 MotorCity S&C Clinic: The Strength and Conditioning Staff at the University of Detroit Mercy would like to invite all strength coaches, athletic trainers, and sport coaches to the 2009 MotorCity Strength and Conditioning Clinic on Saturday June 6th, 2009. Speaks for this year's clinic include Rick Court from University of Toledo, Javair Gillett from the Detroit Tigers, and Tim Wakeham from Michigan State University, plus many more. Registration for the clinic begins at 7:45 in Calihan Hall on the campus of the University of Detroit Mercy. South Alabama: The Strength and Conditioning staff at the University of South Alabama would like to invite you to the first University of South Alabama Strength and Conditioning Camp on May 23, 2009. This one-day seminar will provide you with information on different styles of training and how to incorporate them into your program. Founder of Westside Barbell, Louie Simmons, will be speaking on several different aspects of training, including implementation of conjugate periodization, importance of max effort training, the box squat as it pertains to power development, and speed-strength/strength speed development. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach at Mississippi State University, Erik Korem, will be speaking on linear speed development. To conclude the day, the University of South Alabama's Head Football Strength and Conditioning coach, Justin Schwind, will be speaking on the importance of incorporating competition into your off-season program.
