Virginia: Head strength coach Brandon Hourigan has resigned.

Southern Miss: We have just learned that former Notre Dame head strength coach Ruben Mendoza, ULM head strength coach John Grieco, John Novack, and Miami (OH) head strength coach Paul Jackson will interview for the head strength job at Southern Miss.

Indiana:  We have learned that Mark Hill will become the new head Strength & Conditioning coach for football at Indiana.  Hill comes from Minnesota where he served as the head strength & conditioning coach for the past four seasons. 

ULL: The University of Louisiana Lafayette Department of Strength and Conditioning is accepting applications for a spring intern.  This is a paid position offering $12,000 for one year.   Responsibilities will begin on or about January 12, 2011 and run through a calendar year.  Responsibilities will include: 1) Assist with development and implementation of sport specific strength & conditioning programs. 2) Office and organizational duties. 3) Daily maintenance of equipment. 4) Assist in supervision of training sessions. 5) Other duties as assigned by strength & conditioning staff.  Preferred applicants should have collegiate athletic playing experience, currently pursuing or have achieved a bachelors/masters in exercise science or a related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, and strong desire to become a College Strength & Conditioning Coach.  Please email Rusty Whitt, Head Strength Coach, The University of Louisiana at Lafayette [email protected] with resume, 3 references, and contact info.

CAL: We hear Mike Blasquez has been promoted to head strength coach at CAL.

Texas: We have learned that Tennessee head strength coach Bennie Wylie accepted the same position at Texas.

Morgan State University: Accepting applications for Spring 2011 Intern.  Responsibilities will begin on or about January 24, 2011 and run through May 9, 2011.  Responsibilities will include 1.) Assist with development and implementation of sport specific strength & conditioning programs.  2.) Office and organizational duties.  3.) Maintenance of equipment and training facilities.   4.) Other duties as assigned by strength & conditioning staff.  Required qualifications: currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or a related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, and strong desire to become a College Strength & Conditioning Coach.  Preferred qualifications: proficient in Microsoft word and excel, currently pursuing NSCA, USAW, or CSCCa certification(s) Compensation: This is a volunteer position.  No stipend or housing is offered.  Individual will gain experience in a division I college strength & conditioning setting as well as future recommendation.  College credit will be given as approved by their institution.  Applicants please submit a cover letter, resume, and three professional references to Joshua Bush, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, [email protected].  No phone calls please.

Colorado: Washington Redskins assistant strength coach Malcolm Blacken accepted the head strength job at Colorado.

Alabama: Head strength coach Scott Cochran will earn $290,000 this year and $310,000 next year.  Cochran was scheduled to make $225,000 this year.

Temple: Steve Addazio has hired Marshall head strength coach Frank Piraino for the same position.

Maryland: We are hearing that UCONN assistant strength coach Andrew Wilson will become the head strength coach for football at Maryland.

Morehead State University: Grad assistant job. Job Description: This is a 10-month position beginning Jan 18, 2011.  Applicant will assist all aspects of strength and conditioning for all sports.  Applicant will have direct responsibility of 2 or more sports and will assist with others. Qualifications: Must be enrolled in related graduate program.  Must have practical knowledge of, and experience in teaching exercise technique and instruction.  Must have genuine interest in pursuing a career in strength and conditioning and a willingness to learn. Compensation: $5000/Semester Stipend, discounted tuition (in state). How to Apply: Please send cover letter, resume, and references to [email protected]

Furman: Our sources tell us former Vanderbilt strength coach John Sisk has accepted the head strength job at Furman.

Texas A&M Kingsville: is seeking a Graduate Assistant Coach for Strength & Conditioning.  We are a D2 school in the Lone Star Conference.   Females strongly encourage to apply for this position.  This position is responsible for providing instruction in weight training and conditioning for athletic teams.  This position will help with football and then be assigned 2 or 3 other teams. This position will supervise the fitness and weight room facilities; perform cleaning of equipment, and other duties as assigned by the head coach. South Florida:  Head strength coach Ron McKeefery is leaving South Florida to take a job training US Army special forces.  We have been told that he will be based at Fort Campbell, KY.  McKeefery had been with the Bulls for over 10 years.
