South Alabama: The University of South Alabama Department of Strength & Conditioning is currently accepting applications for 5 full-time intern positions for the spring semester. Successful candidates can expect to work full time for the duration of the 16-week internship starting Jan. 11th. Application for the internship at the University of South Alabama should include a cover letter, resume, and have a bachelor’s degree or college senior at an accredited institution.  Applications for the spring semester will be due by Nov 15th.  The intern must also be willing to work early mornings and late nights during the week and weekends.  This is a non-paid position but free apparel will be provided to the student during participation.  A liability form must be signed before participation stating the university will not be held responsible for any injuries that may occur during the internship.  If there are any further questions pertaining to the internship feel free to contact, the information is listed below.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; assisting the Full-time Strength and Conditioning Coaches with the design and implementation of sport specific strength, speed, agility and quickness programs.  The coaches at the University of South Alabama are Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist's through the NSCA and are also Certified Sports Performance Coaches through the United States Weightlifting Association.  The Head Strength is also a Strength and Conditioning Certified Coach through the CSCCa and an approved mentor.  After a 640-hour internship is completed at the University of South Alabama the interns will be eligible to sit for the SCCC exam at the CSCCa conference the following May. Maryland: The University of Maryland Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for Volunteer Interns during the Spring Semester of 2012.  The intern positions begin in January and extend through May.  This is an unpaid position.  Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to; assist the supervision and execution of strength and conditioning for Maryland Football, set up and break down for daily activities, routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facilities, and participation in internship curriculum.  Characteristics desired in prospective interns include; outstanding work ethic, strong desire to enhance strength and conditioning knowledge, attention to detail, punctuality, and accountability.  Certified individuals (CSCS or CSCCA) are strongly preferred but it is not a requirement.  Resumes should be in by November 18th.  Please email a cover letter, resume and three references to This email address is being protected from spambots. The Citadel: The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, is currently seeking 2 Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Coaches.  Primary responsibilities (not limited to): serve as the primary S&C Coach for up to 3 programs as assigned by the director, thoroughly communicate with Sport Coaches and Sports Medicine Staff to tailor training programs and monitor progress, directly assist with the implementation of the annual Football S&C program, facility upkeep & maintenance, successful completion of up to 2 classes per semester in The Citadel’s Graduate College.  Requirements: a bachelor’s degree in a Health related field, experience leading athletes in a team setting, skills in the utilization of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint, strong communication & organizational skills, an iron-clad desire to gain experience and develop as a professional.  Compensation: There is no monetary compensation for these positions, but each new hire will receive full tuition, fees and books coverage, access to the campus dining hall, CSCCa mentoring as required for the SCCC certification.  To Apply: Email a Cover Letter, Resume and 3 Professional References to Citadel Director of S&C, Donnell Boucher - This email address is being protected from spambots. Ball State: Ball State Football Strength and Conditioning has openings for 2 interns for the 2012 Spring Semester. The dates for the semester are January 17th-April 28th.  This is an unpaid internship.  These individuals will get to coach at the Division 1 level while earning credit hours toward their CSCCa certification. There is a weekly work requirement of 30 hours.  Applicants must have their CPR and First Aid certification upon arrival, and must be working toward their CSCS, USAW, and/or their CSCCa certification.  Resumes will be collected until October 28th. Tennessee: The University of Tennessee is a proud member of the South Eastern Conference and has immediate openings for Spring 2012 intern positions. Florida Atlantic: FAU, a NCAA Division 1 institution and member of the Sun Belt Conference invites those interested in pursuing a career in Strength and Conditioning to apply for a spring semester internship with the Strength and Conditioning Department. Potential interns will acquire valuable experience and knowledge while being a positive asset to FAU and its student-athletes. Upon successful completion of this internship, one should possess and demonstrate the required abilities to advance in the field of Strength and Conditioning. Duties: Assist Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of strength training, conditioning and speed programs designed for 17 varsity teams (including Football), weight room upkeep, equipment maintenance and other duties assigned by the full time staff members. There will be an opportunity to have responsibility over 1 or more sports teams TBD by your comprehension, prior experience, knowledge and skill level. Qualifications: Potential interns must be self-motivated and possess a strong interest in becoming a Strength and Conditioning Coach. Candidates should have prior weight room experience via previous coaching experience and/or a background as a competitive athlete. In addition, candidates should be pursuing or just completed a Bachelors or Master’s degree in exercise science or a related field as well as working towards a certification with the CSCCa or NSCA. Louisville: Intern - The University of Louisville Football Strength and Conditioning department is accepting internship applications for the Spring of 2012. The planned start dates for this internship will be January 5 (based upon availability) and will continue through the end of April. This is a full-time unpaid internship, responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with the supervision and training of all Louisville Cardinal Football players, assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties, and completion of various educational assignments during the internship are also required.
